just an extra info. rafael nadal is technically a right handed person, but he trained all the time on his left hand trying to strengthen it so he can take an advantage because it is always hard to play against a left handed tennis player. so we should give the guy some credit on that.
Jason Kidd was considered hard to play against because he also was ambidextrous (through practice). Sure, he shoots with his right, but because he doesn't have a weak hand when bring the ball around, its difficult to get a read on him.
Thorin, this video is so good I cannot fathom it is for free! Dude, this "lecture" can be contextualized to fit whatever resultsoriented activity, escpessialy within a group context. I think you could make good money of doing this kind of thing, seminars etc. But please don't! We need a mature and critical voice in the Esports community, who can actually evaluate an issue with integrity and boldness. Keep up the good work! :D
Your mind is fascinating. Clear analysis. You always seem to break things down in a way that leaves me thinking "oh yeah, of course, that's what I was missing".
+xTemph also known as semi-pros also known as tryhards depending on the elo range. Eg Joe the plumber69 whose silver 1 is a tryhard, trick2g(not to be confused with g2 trick) is about semi-pro area
That would be down the lines of self acceptance and/or insecurity.. another mental health aspect of life, usually that doesnt go talked about, but can be googled to learn about.
Phelan Nyvoll Walker not really. Sometimes players think they are better than they are and start doing things their teammates are better at. Markeloff is the weirdest one for me.
hey thorin, instead of the colorful text boxes you can also use a slightly less annoying infobox in the top right, this will also work for mobile users.
Hey thoorin I really want to thank you for this video I am a quite successful fencer but have not found my own styl jet and was trying out a lot of stuff but thanks to this video I will be able to find my very own styl thanks for that video you should really go and do more of these keep it up
style, style is the answer to everything, a fresh way to approach something dull or dangerous, to do something dangerous with style is what i call art, style is a difference, a way of doing, a way of being done.
great piece thorin! I love these deep and reflective videos, I apply these ideas on a macro to micro level, very helpful not just for sportsman, but for people and life, careers, skills and talent! gj
i decided to come up with a style for myself. I like to describe myself as a silent Stewie2k. I'll try and have a ninja playstyle where I walk a lot but have the traits of Stewie. I flash though smokes, and try to get plays.
Done 0:43 What u need me to do now, Left Tennant? General Kilroy already gave Ella her Blond hair, so to steal more Concepts, I and my Ship of Theseus ensured negotiations with Strieb and Keenan were civil. - Shawn and Vig. Much Love. Sincerely.
Love that MJ and RF analogy to pro gamers persona of their strength and weaknesses. Mainly cause I'm a big RF fan since 2004 and we all know MJ is the Goat but my fav will always be Kobe, which is just a MJ copy.
in general you should find people to play with and not play soloq. i have hard time with finding someone to play with aswell. i get tilted after one mm match and im too annoyed too play for the rest of the day
+BOT criteNn my friends for example around my rank got bored of the game and stopped playing (i feel like they just were in the game for skins) the rest that still play are either high ranked or silver 3 -_-.
The thing is I hate my style so much because I barely have any impact or make barely any plays. (talking bout CS here) I'm a very defensive, but close quarters player. Put me in Inferno apps, Mirage underwood/connector, Nuke main and I can get some frags, but outside of that I have 0 confidence and 0 aim. On T side this results in poor stats and especially if my team won't entry. Any defensive player have tips for T side? Have no clue how to play it lol
Well of course if aiming at a range is an issue for you then work on it. As well, watch demos of pros or higher tier players who play your play style well and try to identify the qualities and nuances that make them effective.
make unexpected plays, because mm is all about randomness. for example on mirage, push a aps in one round and in the next, push underground. you should learn how to play more aggressive and if your aim isnt consistent enough go ahead and do some deathmatches, you gotta learn how to hs in long range.
My advice might be bad, but f it. first of all you need to learn some usefull nades so you can get some more playground. Wait in smokes sometimes like in an A long smoke and ask for your teammates to flash ct for you so you can get some easy kills, you can also sometimes push through your smokes in certain situations. Use grenades and molly's to clear corners and use flashes to peek. P.S. in clutch situations use your smokes to block off some positions where ct's will come from or use it as a fake flash. P.P.S i'm gn2 so it might not be reliable since im way too agressive as t and ct, but i try to improve.
Hey Thooorin, Would you mind watching one of my teams demos and telling me how I can improve my IGL'ing? You are a very intelligent analyst and I think you could help me and my UK based team :)
I have a really hard time finding my style. I really dont like entry fragging but i cant find a way to play 3rd man if but if the bomb is planted or my team dies ez 1 v 5
They overlap, but they'r not entirely the same. You can have 2 very aggressive players who has the same skillset (like, let say, fast aim and good intuition) who uses entirely different tools and strategies depending on their "style". One may favor poking the opponent to punish bad plays and push the front lines, while another coordinates very well with the other attackers of the team to make a more unified front and plays a more supportive/repressive role, for instance.
Is Strieb hiring? SQ let me go (severance package was about $300k for a year or two of work in Vape) 🚬😎🍽️ ✨🍂🍂🍂🍂 enchanted crescent, Guelph, After Class. Sweatpants Gambino and NF Maud. Fonolo and Trololo and AnimoTech Liberal Ashe and Luke Valentine. TFSWiggin 🀄✨🌟 John1 and Ogrette2. What is your superpower? Mine is Luck plus PokemonPuzzleLeague and Smash64 Electrode

They're good friends now.
Yeah the world is ending my teacher is literally 85 and she dabbed today...
Wtf???? 85 years old???????

It's a cool jersey, I like it a lot.
its actually insane how much knowledge you have not only about the games but also all the players i start to respect you more nice exampled nice video
Thorin, this video is so good I cannot fathom it is for free!

I fucking love these more 'abstract' videos.
when a Thorin's Thoughts video has no game in the title i click on it the fastest.
Very true haha
Your mind is fascinating. Clear analysis. You always seem to break things down in a way that leaves me thinking "oh yeah, of course, that's what I was missing".
This is amazing thank you so much this taught me so much. Amazing video. (Seriously) This will help semi-casuals and pros or hc-players.
semi casuals?
Normal people that put extra time and effort into the game to get better (I'm guessing)
+xTemph also known as semi-pros also known as tryhards depending on the elo range. Eg Joe the plumber69 whose silver 1 is a tryhard, trick2g(not to be confused with g2 trick) is about semi-pro area
VA7
i know its like the ppl who dont want to compete but do want to get good in pugs and mm.
i know bad wording
Great video Thozzles.
I really enjoy these philosophical videos. It's beautiful when you explore how the mind works in life and in the game together.
next video should be - accepting your style. Some are trying too hard to do something different than they should, even in pro scene.
only because they want to improve, which is good.
He briefly discussed this topic with the examples of n0thing and nitr0 and the example of the league player
That would be down the lines of self acceptance and/or insecurity.. another mental health aspect of life, usually that doesnt go talked about, but can be googled to learn about.
Phelan Nyvoll Walker not really. Sometimes players think they are better than they are and start doing things their teammates are better at.
Markeloff is the weirdest one for me.
he was at the beginning. atleast i remember watching some clips of him on dust2
hey thorin, instead of the colorful text boxes you can also use a slightly less annoying infobox in the top right, this will also work for mobile users.
I'm always watching on my phone and i'm Happy ; )
+maw yeah man, I'll bring my computer around everywhere I go. Use a fucking brain
+maw yeee use a pc when you're on a train or in bed or on a plane or at a restaurant or literally anywhere else you don't have a pc with you
i use a fucking pc. how could i see the coloful text boxes if i did not use a pc.
use your (insert quote) brain before making a nonesense comment.
sry but who got infoboxes activated in 2016 anyways =)?
Finally, a fashion video from Thoorin! Oh wait...
Hey thoorin I really want to thank you for this video I am a quite successful fencer but have not found my own styl jet and was trying out a lot of stuff but thanks to this video I will be able to find my very own styl thanks for that video you should really go and do more of these keep it up

Can't go wrong
+Nunch Loses of course classic banter.
+Nunch Loses lmao
I'm going for HUNDEN's style.
i decided to come up with a style for myself. I like to describe myself as a silent Stewie2k. I'll try and have a ninja playstyle where I walk a lot but have the traits of Stewie. I flash though smokes, and try to get plays.
You have uncanny nack for articulating my own thoughts. Thank you sir.
I like the Freudian concept of style in videogames.
My biggest issue is balancing what I'm good at with what I actually want to do.
thats what he said, do you have the skill to fit your mindset/style etc
Great video, and that ending point is perfect
Yes
the video has been up for like 5 minutes lol
+Bowdosa You don't get it, do you?
The video has been out for a minute and its 30 minutes long the fuck are you talking about
+Daniel Keem Sarcasm mate.

rip EG.n0thing the 1.6 legend straight up roasted
Is Virtus' Pro's 3 year CS:GO record just for CS:GO or is it a record for all CS games?
In soloQ you have to adjust your style to your team. Which is almost every time different.
in general you should find people to play with and not play soloq.
i have hard time with finding someone to play with aswell. i get tilted after one mm match and im too annoyed too play for the rest of the day
Don't expect to be taken seriously when you solo queue. Get some friends
+BOT criteNn my friends for example around my rank got bored of the game and stopped playing (i feel like they just were in the game for skins) the rest that still play are either high ranked or silver 3 -_-.
soloq is easy, ignore troll teammates drop 30 have fun but derank

Thorin wearing an ESL shirt..... What has this world come to!?
do not believe in style. style separates man. it's a process of continuing growth. empty your mind. be formless be shapeless. be water my friend.
I love CT awp and T lurking :D
Great vid mate, onya Duncan.
I have a really hard time finding my style. I really dont like entry fragging but i cant find a way to play 3rd man if but if the bomb is planted or my team dies ez 1 v 5

Thorin, how did you come up with your name?
Thorin from LOTR
+Dave because he last name is Shields and LOTR Thorin is Okenshield (not sure if I spelt it right, probably not)

"Playing to your individual strengths" - Dec 2014

What does "latta" even mean? does he mean "later"?
he said latter, it basically just means what was said last.
Thorin's shoulder shaking thing that he does triggers me
godsent is losing to dig. can you make a vid explaining why ? Thoorin I enjoy for videos
cool commentary!
no scarf = more skrilla
ESL Thorin
This video makes me think of Shroud :/
I like this vid nice idea :)
Another Micheal Jordan anology. It's just not the same without them good old NBA references.
Why dont you pronounce the "g" in strength? I'm triggered.
