REAL talk tho, I haven't learned much from my father when i was young, but you sir managed to teach me so much on this single topic that can be converted into everyday life more so than my father ever had. I LOVE YOUR DAD THOORIN!
I've watched many of your videos thorin and I've never commented before but I feel compelled to now. Your analysis of everything esports is second to none. There is no one who has the intelligence about the game that you do. I'm currently a grad school student and your arguments/analyses are on par with the discussions we have in class. You should be seated on every cs go (my esport) major from now on cause no one can do what you do. You go beyond the score line and for that I thank you sir.
I always love watching games where there is someone who everyone knows is going to win, but only if the side that knows they're going to loose fights tooth and nail. That team has to sit down and think, what are their opponent's advantages and how do we play a non standard game to try to do something to them. They might not win, but that doesn't matter. It's the struggle that matters. If they don't have the determination and attitude to struggle as hard as they can when they know they will loose, they're not going to ever do better than they've already decided. They can only achieve what they decided they will do and worse.
"You don't let a bad decision affect the rest of your game", sounds a great motto for life really. Just because you had some bad decisions in life, it shouldn't be dyed by them for the rest of it.
Dude i fucking love throrin videos where you can take what he says and apply it to not just sports/esports scenarios but in real life too. never lose to your own mistakes.
Another one to bring up in this scenario is Gretzky, regarding "team aspect" of things, didn't win the SC after he got traded away from Edmonton, no matter how great he was the pieces wasn't there.. Crosby as well, greatest player in modern era, great play-off player, 1.18 or so PPG in the play-offs but doesn't have the right pieces.. He get's labeled as a "choker" because he doesn't go ham in the bigger games (even though he has) but he's always there, consistent rather than explosive, but he sort of breaks the rules at the same time since he can win a game by himself.. On the other hand you have the Toews of the world, great player, great in playoffs but people make him out to be better then Crosby because of the rings, without comparing the components, players surrounding them.. Ah well, just wanted to put in some hockey reference, was missing!
I remember you referenced the 'Mountain' analogy in your Grilled interview with Monte, is there are particular work in Philosophy or meditation where this can be found more in depth?
+Anthony Pipe Basic Buddhist principles obviously go back thousands of years, but in general I prefer the Zen flavour, which is about 1600 years old. There are lots of books you can read, a good starting place being 'Mindfulness in plain English' by Henepola Gunaratana. I also like the works of Alan Watts, in terms of philosophy which is related to Zen.
+Thooorin i think dyrus and link were worse at dealing with the pressure in league than aphromoo. both seem to play terrible in finals or really safe. Soon as CLG got rid of link they won playoffs :P
The only alternative left for mankind... Is discipline. Discipline is the only deterrent. But by discipline, I don't mean harsh routines. I don't mean waking up every morning at 5:30 and splashing cold water on yourself until you're blue. Sorcerers understand discipline as "The capacity to face with serenity, odds that are not included in our expectations." For them, discipline is an art. the art of facing infinity without flinching. Not because they are strong and tough. but because they're filled with aura. Sorcerers say that discipline makes the glowing coat of awareness unpalatable to the flyer.
Tom Brady himself had his choking issues(or at least some would call them that) in playoffs, the great Ravens defensive teams with Ray Lewis and Ed Reed, two (hopefully) first-ballot hall-of-famers, managed to beat them multiple times in playoffs during years that Patriots had the best offense in the league(or one of the best at least) I'm not a Pats fan btw, I am a humble Buccaneers fan...
I think both Djokovic and Murray were heavy chokers back in their earlier years; They were great in terms of skill and physical attributes and lacking in experience, but on a mental level they almost always faltered. However, they both manage to overcome this problem - Djokovic to a higher degree. That and, well, Murray is simply just not as good (though the difference is small) and he has had the misfortune of playing in the era of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic.
I think if the players have had problems performing at big events they should actually see a psychologist or someone professional. There's plenty athletes who did this and (at least partly) overcame their problems. Of course they would feel stupid doing it but it would probably help a lot.
+BottomFragger sports psyhologists can help people get over the fixation on result, which stems from a (usually deep seatec) fear of failure. Thorin is spot on, focusing on the moment not the result is vital. The other part is accepting the worst could happen and being okay with anything. The Spanish have an appropriate saying/song - Que sera sera, whatever will be, will be.
+SUNSPYtm Sorry, was too tired to watch the whole vid, I commented when I was about half through the video. Totally agree with you, I just think they should try more to stop from choking. Try Thorin's idea, see a professional if that doesn't work and just do everything you can.
I really wish thooorin would work with fighting games (after a lot of studying of course). He could get really in depth beyond the game that a lot of commentators don't really go in to.
+Thooorin what would be THE australian superteam according to you? Rickeh, Ustilo, Jks, azr seem like great candidates. What are your thoughts on these 4 players?
+Materp I don't think so, considering he was fairly underwhelming at every major except the last one. GuardiaN was one of the most erratic CS:GO players in history up until about 3 months ago. Perhaps we can say that he now displays good composure.
+Materp The player with most composure I've ever seen in CS was markeloff when Na'vi was winning nearly everything in 2010. He always delivered with superstar performance - semifinals or finals, he would win it alone with the AWP. I've been following CS since 2009,so they might be even better players who had more composure, I don't know, in CS:GO flusha is a good candidate or even s1mple - he really looks like he doesn't give a fak,but we will have to wait and see when he attends more LANs.
+TraneOFFCZ markeloff Definitely. im cs go Its pretty tough, there are Players with good composure but they dont really have the titles to back it up. get right would be one , nur he had his ups and downs. flusha would be my pick, Maybe Krimz or the vp Players except pasha and byali
I've never been so stunned in my life as when I watched the ball sail over Peyton Manning's head on the first offensive play of the game against Seattle in the super bowl. Speaking of which - it's not just the center who choked on that first play it was the whole darn team that choked that entire game. It's a bit unfair to blame the QB for the Bronco's collapse versus Seattle - actually, it's a lot unfair. But that's life in the NFL - the QB gets too much credit and too much blame.
+Terp845 While he's an incredible player, I think Tim Duncan's career has been over-hyped. Has had probably the best GM in the history of the NBA and one of the best coaches for his entire career. In some ways he is the Tom Brady of the NBA. Very good player, but over-hyped for reasons which are not entirely to do with him.
Surprised you didn't mention Lebron during the part about people overreacting to chokers, or when you discussed how people aren't "destined" to be chokers and can change. And when discussing overhyped clutch players like Brady, was expecting to hear how Kobe's % on game-winning shots isn't even that good yet he's hyped as one of the best clutch players ever.
You forgot to mention that after making excuses, you should complain to your boyfriend hard enough for him to start a petition on reddit to overturn the result of the game.
really like your comment but I think you could be less preconception against Brazilians , I know that "hue br" is the worst race , however not all are like that, you have some fans in Brazil . Respect and humility are the basics of humanity. sorry for my inglsh and thank you ;)
LOL Makes video about people throwing out terms like choker and fans labeling players and giving them that reputation yet he himself has been constantly calling device a choker for so long now...surely that can't be good for him also the reach thooorin has makes all these idiot fans start calling more people choker choker etc because they've heard thorin say it, so technically what he's disputing in the video is what he is himself...like the overlord of memes
REAL talk tho, I haven't learned much from my father when i was young, but you sir managed to teach me so much on this single topic that can be converted into everyday life more so than my father ever had. I LOVE YOUR DAD THOORIN!
Thorin finaly turned his heating on
+Young Gun
Looks like he is in a hotel. :D
+rikhart nah, think he saved up enough money from alpha draft to pay his heating bill
You don't have to pay for heating in a hotel room, mate.
+Sledginius you kinda do, it comes inbedded in the price :))))

Dude i fucking love throrin videos where you can take what he says and apply it to not just sports/esports scenarios but in real life too. never lose to your own mistakes.
Mate I'm so happy to actually experience that thoughts you put in video. I'm definitely showing that video to my sons...
I love that Thooorin makes comparisons to real life sports often and that knows a bit about Football
oh, thank god you're here!
You mean AMERICAN football?
+Dank Arino no, he means hand egg
Dank Arino Futball vs Football for me :/
+Dank Arino No. He means Canadian hockey
This video helped me think about this for other sports. Thanks Thorin! Best part was at about 19 minutes for me.
Finally paying for heating?
Well it doesnt really look like he is home tho
+Soren Soroush great hotel
+Soren Soroush looks like a hotel m8
Yeah, it looks like a hotel
+Soren Soroush inb4 the pipes burst
Thorin is very knowledgeable about a lot of topics.
I came for the NA roast xD
+itsChristiian Must be disappointed
+itsChristiian yeah I was hoping for a c9 roast
+AsgUnlimited Sure am!
Although I heard C9 were using the excuse of jet lag for the last tournament, so I thought this is going to be related to that.
source144 Um no they didn't?
U sure? I've read something about it on reddit a few days ago lol
Guru Thorin from the Temple of Sick Skrilla has come down from his mountain top peak to bestow upon us great wisdoms.
The IPL moment with stephano was amazing. That guy always had amazing composure.
Another one to bring up in this scenario is Gretzky, regarding "team aspect" of things, didn't win the SC after he got traded away from Edmonton, no matter how great he was the pieces wasn't there.. When you said "people are so quick to throw out terms like 'choking' and 'choker'" my first thought was this had something to do with Richard Lewis.
A video about composure is the first time I see you with a bit less composure, quite many stumblings with words :D
Awesome vid. Quote from the shaman is awesome, i'm linking it to my friend that tilts and gets hella discouraged
This was a refreshingly positive video.
you watch a lot of other competitive sports than just esports. it's pretty rare to find a british guy that has knowledge of american football.
SuperBowl was yesterday :D
+mehunt pedbro I think he's talking about the part about Tom Brady and the Manning's lack defense for such a long time
I know you already did the reflections, but the Cypher video is way overdue :)
I think im going to have a different mind set while playing CS now. Thanks Thorin.

"No matter how the wind howls, the mountain cannot bow to it." - fucking mulan bro

Thooorin needs to upload these onto Spreaker.com
+Thooorin what would be THE australian superteam according to you?
Rickeh, Ustilo, Jks, azr seem like great candidates. What are your thoughts on these 4 players?
Thorin finally realized he can turn on the heater :D
do reflections with happy or guardian. also friberg would be awesome even though you wouldnt ask him. think about it!!
I say the csgo player with the most composure is GuardiaN +Thooorin
+Materp I don't think so, considering he was fairly underwhelming at every major except the last one. GuardiaN was one of the most erratic CS:GO players in history up until about 3 months ago. Perhaps we can say that he now displays good composure.
+Materp id give it to flusha or krimz... did you see those 2 clutch? horrifying
+Materp i would give it to rain
+Materp The player with most composure I've ever seen in CS was markeloff when Na'vi was winning nearly everything in 2010. Thank you for this video
Very good video.
Tim Duncan or Kobe?
+Terp845 While he's an incredible player, I think Tim Duncan's career has been over-hyped. Has had probably the best GM in the history of the NBA and one of the best coaches for his entire career. Am I listening to Thorin talk American football? as an American... I have no fucking clue what he is talking about
I would watch it but 30 mins can't you like shorten these videos they're interesting but way to long imo.

WTF IS THIS? THIS AINT WHAT I SUBSCRIBED FOR? WHERE IS THE COAT?
You are taking those Alphadraft advertisements a bit too far... there might be some weak-willed people falling into a gambling addiction
