@@thedefyingdefinition it helps to know the pace that is 100% for you. I knew the pace I was aiming for and was trying to hold that pace with as little effort as possible. By the second minute, it got harder and harder to hold the same pace
@@TekliDragon yes, pacing is everything in a time trial on an erg or in the boat. As you say, most people blast out at the start because you're fresh and can maintain a very high pace for about 15 seconds with the phosphagen energy system. Then the glycolytic energy system dominates for 40 seconds to a minute and then the oxidative energy system dominates which isn't very efficient. What I do is to determine a realistic time to make the "A" dragon boat and then figure out what is the average pace of this time and stick to that regardless of how good I feel at the start. Only in the last 10 to 15 seconds, as you do, do I "dump" everything into the paddle. Time trials, a love-hate relationship!
How much effort are you putting into your drive? Looks so leisure, like 65-70% of your maximum pull strength
Definitely putting in A LOT of effort. But paced out. Often times people go too much at the start, and then fade really hard.
@@TekliDragon Totally get it. Thank you for responding
