That pie chart of dangerous orb weavers is also coincidentally the exact same pie chart for orb weavers I would eat. I'll let you decide if the orange represents disgusting orb weavers or tasty ones.
I love these spiders. Especially the big, yellow ones I used to see when my grandma had her garden. I mostly see the smaller, big butt ones when it's dark. There's one detail about the small, nocturnal ones I would like to mention. When dawn is cracking, they will either eat or break their webs and hide in small corners or even in car doors. I remember touching one when I went to open my car door once. It didn't bite me, but it ran off somewhere else.
I've seen a massive golden orb-weaver spider in the back of my girlfriends place. I knew from looking up spiders recently that I would be okay if I happened to be near one. I used this opportunity to cure some of my arachnophobia and got the courage to touch this massive spider and i actually got to pet it!
A lot of them do that, yes. However, there are thousands of different orbweavers so it's hard to say they "all" share certain behaviors. I've seen some stay in the same web for weeks. I've also seen one throw the web away instead of eating it.
