At the moment just about my favourite Russell Crowe film . The title seems to put people off, the producers obviously thought a literary quote from the 1930s would mean something today. Bad move, because it is a wonderful success story, not just the boxing but how a family managed the Great Depression years and after. No walk through for Crowe ,he trained and sparred with boxers ,had ANGELO DUNDEE as one of his trainers ( appears in the film briefly, Russell really appreciates him and it`s mutual).
People need to look up the real true max bear Videos max would never disrespect jim's braddick's wife like that I have talking to people who knew both of the fighters and they would say that movie was not accurate at all.Yes max like to go out to clubs and have a good time but he was very respected in the boxing community
But in real life with max bear.He put Frankie Campbell's kids through college. That movie was not accurate so much with maxbear. He was a good man and a very friendly man and he gave a lot of credit to James Braddock in real life. But what do I know
Thanks for sharing! I did hear this... But Hollywood needed a bad-guy for the movie... and Baer got the honors! I heard his son raised a lot of awareness about his father's good nature.
