This came out (May 82' U.S realease. ) when I was in college T.S.U. Md. -You wouldn't believe how many fingerless gloves and really nice leather jackets got chopped up because of this movie....and Billy Idol..(White Wedding came out in Oct. the same year and kept the fashion slaughter going.

I'm starting to wonder if we might see Mel Gibson in one last MAD MAX film. George Miller has made two movies based on Furiosa, so now I'm thinking he might offer Gibson the chance to return if there is a third film in the modern series.

For us living in Sydney at the time every outdoor scene had an element of OMG thats the X building! Remember that rainy night and the car stopped in a tunnel bridge? I used to walk thorugh that short tunnel on the way from the train station. The bridge is actually the train line above from Central station tot eh "City Circle" which is a bit like our subway. I fell in love w/ Virginia Hey when this movie came out. I pray her cancer is in remission and she is doing well now....God broke the mold w/her. Smart, beautiful, and a very kind/wonderful person from what little I've heard and read about her. God bless you Virginia.

The early Mad Max/Road Warrior movies have some of the best stunts ever put on film. It is too bad about the gent who was almost killed flipping over the truck, I'm very happy he survived. Those Aussies put out some outstanding films, these, "Walkabout", "The Club", "Crocodile Dundee" and anything about the Thylacine, aka the Tasmanian Tiger.

I remember going to see "Elvis the Movie" in 79 and mad Max was the trailer film (This was back in the day when you got two films the Trailer and the Main feature). I was in awe, I fell in love with the Z1's and Z1000's in the film and wound up buying a Z1A as soon as I passed my test in 83. I am 58 now and still ride that Z1 and regularly watch the fist Max Movie and still love every second.

Kawasaki motorcycles were extremely popular outside of Japan long before 1979! The original Kawasaki KZ900 came to the US in 1973 and by 1979 the KZ1000 was available. From 1968 to 1980 Kawasaki also sold the three cylinder H1 MACH III 500 and the H2 MACH IV 750 known as the "Widowmaker"! This was a perfect advertising ploy by Kawasaki, but they were hardly a new brand outside of Japan by the time Max hit the big screen!

The road chase in that movie was all real no CG a great movie.

This was a magical film for me. Incredible in every way.

I remember my first trip to America seeing that movie playing in Texas at a country town theatre looked like a shed and the voices were dubbed over.
