In the late 80s I heard that someone at Findhorn (whence this dance was introduced to the UK) 'envisioned' the wedding symbolism and it has spread. Certainly nothing in the lyrics about weddings. Also the clapping does NOT match the original choreography, Rivka Sturman in 1956 (th-cam.com/video/CrGj8Nl-z7w/w-d-xo.html the dance at 5:25 is led by Rivka Sturman) Lyrics translated. We will yet return to the ancient melody And the song will continue We'll raise another glass, with bright and cheerful eyes. Our tents are filled with goodness because the dance lifts us up Our tents are filled with goodness as we return to the ancient melody.
Thanks for the succinct effective videos!!

Lyrics translated.
We will yet return to the ancient melody
And the song will continue
We'll raise another glass,
with bright and cheerful eyes.
Our tents are filled with goodness
because the dance lifts us up
Our tents are filled with goodness
as we return to the ancient melody.
I have never seen this one done at a wedding. Not a JEWISH wedding, anyway.
I totally agree! See my comment above.
