I agree with this list. I love, love Bree. Isengard and Dol Amroth/Gondor S tier too imo. Id put Rohan in B and Harad in C, then Khand in C. Rest is spot on.

I'll back you up on Mordor. I conquered Minas Tirith and killed Faramir, Boromir and Denthor. One of the most satisfying victories I ever experienced in DAC. I did lose 75% of my forces, 100% worth it.
I don't understand why everyone hate moria, they are my favourite. Early game is a little hard, but late game is super fun. Swarming those elite elves with endless hordes of goblins and watching them slay thousands while you slowly extinguish their hope and their lives.. it's so epic to watch :D
I want to like Moria ... but they could be a lot better. I've suggested for the longest time an "Awaken the Balrog" script that could occur when you build the strongest mine in 1 of the Khazad-Dums. This script will split your Tech Tree (so Evil Dorwinion): Side with the Balrog and get access to elite Goblins (Berserker-style I'm thinking, basically worshippers of the Balrog) and Nameless Things (treat them like Mini Balrogs and make them the strongest monstrous infantry in the game), but Mordor sours towards you (potentially make them an enemy). Continue to side with your Goblin Chieftain and get access to Uruks (Mordor is pleased you aren't siding with a rogue Balrog and sends Uruks your way). Either choice will have a percentage of your faction rebel against you (the Balrog Choice should have more, make it the tougher choice) to up the difficulty. With a split Tech Tree, they could use some more Units. The DaC Team don't seem interested in adding new units though, so I'm doubting they'd do something like a split tech tree for Moria, which makes me sad.
@@names_are_useless I've always liked almost your exact idea. Frodo was stabbed in Moria by a Mordor Uruk, so having Moria be defined by choosing either independence or Mordor would have been fun.
Moria has such potential for a cool event: The Balrog. I pitched this idea to the devs a long time ago, but they never got back to me about it. If it were up to me, here's how I'd do the Balrog Script: * After Balin's Attack AND after building a Mithril Mine (so shouldn't be a default build) in Khazad-Dum, every turn you have a % chance to trigger the "Awaken the Balrog" script. * Awaken the Balrog: The Balrog is grumpy that you have awoken it and is climbing up into Moria. You have to choose how you will respond. You will have 2 Options: 1. Fight Durin's Bane: The Balrog is an enemy and a threat to Chieftain Uglag's Power (or whoever is in charge of your faction at the time). Chieftain Uglag was sent by Sauron to Moria to lead the ragtag Goblins and will continue to do so. A small percentage of your Army will turn Rebel, siding with the Rebel Balrog. The Rebel Balrog, with some rebel Goblins around Khazad-Dum and Khazad-Dum West, will attack Khazad-Dum. After defeating The Balrog, your commander that leads to The Balrog's death should gain a "Balrog Slayer" trait, which should be a pretty big bonus. You also gain access to specialized Uruk Units, as Sauron is pleased with your decision. Lastly, you also gain positive faction influence with Mordor. In my headcanon: Sauron and Gothmog (King of the Balrogs) were both Lieutenants to Melkor in the First Age, and so Sauron isn't too fond of Balrogs themselves (they've never worked under him). This should be the easier choice. 2. Worship Durin's Bane: You can choose to worship the Balrog, Durin's Bane. Your current Faction Leader, and a majority of your army, will turn Rebel, fighting alongside your old Faction Leader. The Rebel Faction Leader, and Rebels around the area, will attack Khazad-Dum. Durin's Bane becomes your Faction Leader, with his bodyguard called "Nameless Ones" (basically "nameless things" from the books; they can basically be "mini balrogs" so there is only 1 true Balrog but the units themselves can still be a similar scale to him); they should probably be the best "monstrous infantry" in the game. After defeating the old Faction Leader, you gain access to some new Elite Goblin Units (one idea I had was a type of "Goblin Berserker" with low armor but high damage, and a "Goblin Zealot" that gives major buffs to your army, all representing Goblin fanatics of The Barlog). Sauron, seeing Durin's Bane as a threat to his power, you gain negative faction influence with Mordor (maybe they even become an Enemy towards Moria). This should be the harder choice. I've also thought there should be a specialized event attached to conquering Goblin-town: * Conquering the settlement (while The Balrog isn't your Faction Leader) should give your Faction Leader the title of "King", basically showing that you've united the Goblins and have become the new "Goblin King", giving your Faction Leader some positive traits. Maybe also have some various Goblin Units populate in the settlement, representing the Goblins flocking under the banner of their new Goblin King. * Could be a cool nod if Goblin Town had the weird deformed Goblins in the style of the ones in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (not sure what could be unique about them at the moment). Conquering Goblin Town could unlock these specialized Goblins Units.
Ye man I agree! I love this idea so cool, both the options and also the goblin town ideas. It would certainly make the goblins of Moria better and also less of an annoyance to fight and give you a reason to take them out 😊
I just installed this mod after reminiscing about playing battle for middle earth back in the day . Love this list and will help me with my first pick for a start when I play later. Thank you for the video.
I started playing DnC and I must say, that choosing Dúnedain as a first faction to play was a bad choice but a very fun one. I am currently fighting on 3 fronts against Angmar, Goblins and Dunlendings who attacked me quite early in the campaign. So I didn't even have time to finish Aragorn's quest, because I have to constantly defend and conquer, then defend again. :D Getting good troops is also much harder than what I'm used to in Medieval 2, because in Eriador, everything is sooooo far away! :D But when I get them, they're so badass.
I personally LOVE Dol Guldur, their units are a bit more elite-ish compared to mordor and they get nazgul which is amazing obviously. Their hard start being surrounded by enemies is action packed too which is fun. I do get where you come from tho, as they don't have any real scripts and fighting elves can get annoying.

I am a total Elf simp, so them being pretty much the best factions is a win for me. I am most partial to the High Elves myself because their leaders are awesome, their units are top-tier, the aesthetic is great, and the split starting locations allow for multiple paths of expansion, which I love (I played the Greeks a lot in Rome: Total War . . . I know I'm a masochist). That said, one of my favorite things to do in this submod is to play Gondor and retake the land of Ithilien and remake Minas Ithil from the Witch King's fortress. Playing Denethor more as he is described in the books is a good time, and it makes for some epic moments in campaigns. My last run had me defending Osgiliath and successfully repelling a several-thousand strong Orc army with only a few hundred men and it felt indescribable forcing them into a funnel and cutting them down. My main favorite besides that has to be Khazad-dûm. Balin was always my personal favorite of Thorin's Company and their roster is the tightest of the Dwarven factions in my opinion.
I agree generally, but if we're talking fun, the most fun I've had in a DaC campaign was with dunland personally. While I love elves in terms of lore, I find that really they all play the same. Sit back and let your archers shred through the enemy, half the time they won't even reach your frontline(which might also have bows/javs), and when they do it's out of the pan and into the fire. Dunland has a varied roster, and even into the late game, though of course you won't be defeating elves or dwarves 1for1; the unit availability, ap javelins, pikes, and cav that you have in abundace really make up for it. Plus the dunland soundtrack is kickass.
And to add, love the dwarves.... absolutely hate not having cavalry. No way to catch skirmishers.... no way to deliver morale hits, and no way to actually inflict damage on a mordor stack when every one of their units routs at 75%. Battle after battle after battle when any other faction can wipe a stack out in 1 even with 1 spare unit of light cavalry. No matter how inaccurate it is to the lore, for the way total war is played the dwarves just need cavalry like the have in the reforged mod.
Ye cool I’m glad you enjoy Dunland. I’m looking forward to them on v5, because atm I personally don’t really enjoy them that much (apart from the epic music). Yes the dwarves do struggle a lot without cab but half of the enemies you face are heavy infantry focus, but I would like to see them have more cab options. Maybe even a scripted event where they become closer with a nearby neighbour and can recruit some of their basic cav? Thanks for watching and commenting bro! :D
My favorite is dunland for the music tracks 10 put of 10 music, the most immersive for me, it really feels like a random germanic civilization from earth plopped down into middle earth. Kinda weak units though but I'm OP at this point I enjoy the handicap, ballista is the answer for elves and dwarves.
@@zenith3180 For sure, I don't play them like that but they'd be like a better version of the orc factions in that sense, only faction i played that can have a full army of pikemen early and easily.
Rohan definitely deserve to be at least a B, they may be a cavalry faction but the meduseld dorwards are one of the best spear units in the game, riddermark axeman are also a very good shock unit and a very strong economy

It's just my own opinion and how much I enjoy playing the factions, as well as the events and scripts that come with them. That's why Mordor is so highly rated, just because I love playing them for some reason :D
@@Red_Zed everyone has there own opinion mate, I think Rohan need some love in the next update as they don’t really have many scripts or special events going for them. Mordor is a great faction but a very safe starting position
Isengard has always been one of my favorites, especially with the ring mehanic. Coolest looking units in the game. I can agree with the Haradrim, it was one of the first I played solely because I wanted to use the Mumakil, but the long slug it takes to get there was not fun and not worth it to me. Mordor was also incredibly fun, throwing countless hordes of orcs at Gondor until I got the ring and then I wrecked havoc. High Elves are also fun because of how powerful their units are, especially once you get the Noldor elves. Entire armies are decimated with only a few units. My favorite faction of all though is obviously Khazad-dum. The most unique and coolest mechanic in the game. Then fighting the Balrog, and the amount of money you can make. Was very rewarding to reconquerer all of the mountain fiefs in the game. I've also noticed that despite moria having the weakest troops, every single campaign I play where I am not directly involved in fighting them, they swarm like crazy. They were wiping out the High Elves, Aduin, and Dunadain practically all by themselves. It was a bit annoying. I suppose it's chopped up to the AI being bad and not utilizing the advantage of the good side units, or not being agressive enough, idk.
Ye I love Isengard always fun! Ye Harad is fine but just a slog for me. Ye Moria always does well, probably because of autoresolve more than anything, where the AI doesn’t think it can win because it has half the troops not realising it’s troops are 4x better 😆
Yeah I agree Khand is FUN, idk why in theory they should suck but they didn't, really cool looking units I love the samurai looking infantry, it's easy to imagine there's this gigantic khandish empire off the map to the east, like Mongolia relative to Europe, so it gives the impression that even as an evil faction you don't necessarily need to answer to sauron, you are emperor status in your own theatre that's what khagan is rather than khan.
I actually found, at least the battle gameplay, of the wildmen a fun change of pace. having a faction with a large focus on javalins is a breath of fresh air. having a LOT of anti armor, but having to figure out how to use it most effectively and often using tree cover more then usual. ive taken to checkering my dedicated melee in front of my javelins as bait to hold the enemy front lines so I can fill them with AP missiles. Also pretty fun watching mumukils and trolls dieing in half a second with massed javilins.
Wat Dunland and Clans are fun to play and in a great area too. You can go up to fight elves and Bree or go down and fight Rohan or go even more down and fight Gondor from behind. Fighting Gondor when they dont have all their armies is so fun.
@@Red_Zed Okay, then yes I understand why you didnt like them. They looked terrible. (I still liked them, but easy to see why others might not) Try them not, go fight everyone else instead of Rohan. Its more fun to go North and fight elves, Bree and Dunedain, or go South and fight Gondor (they wont have many armies there, so you can conquer their lands).
Honestly playing as ered luin I had great fun restoring the vaults of beleriand with those amazingly OP pike units. defeating the balrog army was pretty hard though
i once won a campaign as the woodland realm in 75 turns. It was a short campaign, got 15 settlements, and dumbed the ring in the volcano. Ez, one of the most fun shorter games i've had
My problem with Rohan is that there is little flavour in their campaign. I remember playing them in original Third Age back in like 2009 and that's still kinda same campaign in DaC today, 1) rush Isengard 2) save Gondor. Other factions have much more going on, even classic ones like Gondor

Moria kinda sucks. But I also love playing them. There is no feeling of euphoria like the one you get when you take Imladris with stack after stack of Snaga and Goblin Infantry that have no reason to be winning those fights.
Ered Luin C tier? Their long spears are the most effective, OP, quickly obtainable, cheap, and they only suffer a few losses per battle because the opponent cannot get close to them.
Lorien is great especially with the reunion choice and also galadriel is now a unit due to a new mod on discord also i forget what mod it was whether it was in ver 3 or 4 but the combined elf nation which tied together all 4 factions was awesome and it would be fun to play that again
Fair play I have played them on the channel. You are right they are probably A tier strength wise but for me just not quite as interesting as some of the others because after the early game fighting Rhun the enemies are not too strong :)
Bree is S for sure, they look so goofy and out of place in the middle earth world when they march onto the battlefield with infinite stacks of mercenary plate armor troops. Fun! Id rank ArAdunaim S cus their late units look Roman and they just look so endgame as a faction. Adunaim feels like this raw unimaginable greater threat than Mordor cus they've got the dark look while being so much better equipped and disciplined.
I mean, if this tier list is just based on what you think is fun then more power to you. But it’s less of a tier list video imo in that case. When I see tier list I think mechanically best. Just felt a little Mia-led personally by the title.
I think I stayed at the start it was my opinion and that it was a mixture of the best and how fun I found them. Even if it was just mechanically best I would still say that would still be pretty subjective imo. Thanks for commenting and watching anyway Joshua!

Just found this mod, and started as Dol Amroth because I played them in the Games Workshop game. I can see the potential late game but holy heck the early game is maddening, my ports constantly blockaded, or heartland attacked by tiny fleets emerging from nowhere. Feels incredibly hard to afford enough troops to advance without going broke
Yes as I said dol Amrita is considered very hard, I’d recommend someone like Gondor or an elven faction to start with so you can get used to managing the economy vs troops as it’s a lot harder than vanilla :)

Enedwaith is a really fun faction to play. Their units can be trash compared to others, but I LOVE to reclaim their lands, and create an empire from Scratch. Then, you can choose if you side with the good or the bad guys.

idk, i like every faction, all come with pro's and con's. alot of submods to enhance the faction you play i cant rly say what my all time favrite is, i like all factions. I do love the non canon faction of Eregion the Noldor elves from a submod. Rly enjoy playing them

Dude you say "trash" for goblins of moria like it's a bad thing. This is the funest part of playing them. You throw trash at your strong enemies. Every enemy full stack, throw a cheap full stack of trash at them. For the cost of a full stack of dunedain troops you can make 3 stacks of trash and one regular army. You must have a stack of snagas for every army you send into the field. They are awesome, regoblin your expectations
I like the Goblins of Moria BECAUSE they're trash. There's nothing I like more than taking a small faction of nobodies and turning them into the scourge of the era. I particularly love the message you get when they start winning. 'Death has come to Middle Earth', like you're a creeping scourge spreading out and laying waste to all that is noble and good. You're not some noble elf lord, some great human or dwarven king, or some archetypal Dark Lord, you're a bunch of maggot-eating marauders who are all in it for the same reason; to have some fun and maybe cannibalise some elf maidens along the way. You do have to get into the full 'rapacious horde' mindset, but I have to say I got some satisfaction in surrounding Aragorn in his camp and filling him with arrows after outfoxing his much stronger army, or forcing my way into Lothlorien and extinguishing its light forever in what amounts to a bunch of orcs taking down what amounts to almost an eldritch location ruled by a practical demi-god. (For those put off by this, I do like taking small good factions and turning them into the saviours of the day as well. I just wish the Tribes of Enedwaith wasn't quite as murderously hard a start. Tried spreading out slowly towards my recommended territories only for an Isengard doomstack to show up at my capital around Turn 10.)
I'm on 234th turn playing with High Elves and game started crushing during turn change, Ar Adunaim's turn to be exact. Game did crush before, many many times but just saving every turn solved the problem since it always continued, this time it won't. It crushes every time and always on Ar Adunaims/Mordor turn. I've tried reinstalling the game, didn't help. I've installed DaC 4.6.7 Anybody with the same issue? Solution? Thx
Have you switched into Mordor to see whether they’re trying to do something stupid or collecting loads of armies in 1 spot which might crash it? Look for anything weird or like I said a load of armies somewhere just chilling for no reason 😁
First you can toggle fog of war just to see if they’re doing anything janky, Which is : toggle_fow To tag switch you type Control (insert faction name here) Without the brackets tho, but I don’t know the exact name Mordor would be, assuming it would just be Mordor. One tip the cheats are case sensitive so if it doesn’t work to start with try without a capital letter :)

I've turned of fog of war but no Mordor stacked armies, what I did find is that Dol Guldur and Orcs of Gundabad have bunch of armies surrounding Thranduil's Halls + one Mordor army so I thought that might be the problem. But, changing faction in mind game, at least in my case, ends the game immediately, not a crash but a pop up window telling me I've lost. 😕

When I played High Elves I wanted Mithlond so bad but I don't want to fight Lindon and fxxked up the trade with them and Ered Luin. Especially when they have that disgusting mini Sauron level Infantry(Mithlond Nobles) so I just let Ar Adunaim do their things and then I either buy Mithlond from them or just yoink it.
@Red_Zed I think it was......V3.2 or earlier 🤔 The later update is not to my liking so I wait until V5 released. I remembered in that version when I played Northern Dunedain my Gandalf got killed by the first shot of the Isengard Catapult.......

@Red_Zed Which is why when I played Isengard I put three Catapults unit in front of the bridge(the bridge map next to Tarnost)4 units of Uruk-hai Crossbow on each side and shot Gondor and Dol Amroth into pieces. Each Catapult unit got like 800+ kill because they all clumped up on the bridge blocked with three Uruk-hai Pikemen. If it comes to bridge battle. I think Isengard is S tier.
I know y’all hate are gonna hate this but I think rhun is was over hyped, their early tier is trash, and then all the mid tier suck then the loke units are underwhelming as hell. Like shouldn’t they be just monsters on the field?! They aren’t tho. Their s tier troops are respectable but everything below that is just garbage.

Maybe in v5 they might get a bit of a boost, either that or you can play AGO where they start with the professional troops from the start :D
Having played Rhun and experiencing this exact situation, I have to agree. I still love my golden boys, but they have problems. I mean, the starting Daritai Crossbowmen I found to be significantly more useful on a consistent basis than the Loke Nar-Rim. Which is just sad. Arulad Dragonguard and Gamp-Rim always punch way above their weight class though for some reason. Arulad make more sense than the Gamp though. Innas-Rim are so fragile that they're kinda worthless even with their hard hitting nature. Flag-Rim really seem to oddly underperform for an AP unit too. I mean, my Gamp-Rim could kill 393 main-line Dwarves in a fight where the Flag-Rim only got 180. And the Dragon Wrath also seem to oddly underperform, I've seen them struggle (definitely win but slowly) to kill archers. They just feel weird.
I think the elves are overhyped they are strong as hell but it kinda makes the campain boring and the wood&lothlorien elves are to similar and therefore feel bland.
Hi Matis, thank you for watching the video and commenting. I do tend to agree with the similarity of the Woodland realms and Lothlorien elves, especially with their starting positions being closeby. But I do find playing them pretty fun, especially when your archers are just churning through orc scum for days :)
Ye I love playing evil in games! Some of the good factions are well worth it though, if you want a nice challenge as well as good fun roster then dale is always a great place to start! Build that economy tho :)

Hablas espangol? If you want to do that bro I would start with a mid tier faction such as Angmar or Isengard, a faction with solid units but nothing hugely special like the elves. Then look at what stats you want to balance, attack, defence, armour etc, then look at what you want your median to be and start to build units around that. Each different type of unit will have different medians however, for example cavalry will need a greater middle charge than infantry. This seems like a spreadsheet job bro, good luck 😁

I'm going to follow your advice, luckily I can do it with an algorithm that takes into account the number of soldiers per unit and I can check different attributes. They are many. There is a file called inside the mod directory and I was able to read it from my program. However, there is a clear imbalance between the elves and the other races because they have a lot of training and they don't have morale blocked so they will never give up and that makes the game unbalanced. they also have too much defense. I am going to equate all the units that have the same training and weight them with the number of units. So in battle they will perform very similar. Maybe it would help me if you could test the changes as they are. You only have to change the file that I mentioned for the one that I modified and that changes all the values of the units.
Goblins of Moria is the top tier faction, they can blitz and have cheap units. They can outspam any other nation with 3-4-5 times the units the enemies bring.

If it were up to me, here's how I'd do the Balrog Script:
* After Balin's Attack AND after building a Mithril Mine (so shouldn't be a default build) in Khazad-Dum, every turn you have a % chance to trigger the "Awaken the Balrog" script.
* Awaken the Balrog: The Balrog is grumpy that you have awoken it and is climbing up into Moria. You have to choose how you will respond. You will have 2 Options:
1. Fight Durin's Bane: The Balrog is an enemy and a threat to Chieftain Uglag's Power (or whoever is in charge of your faction at the time). Chieftain Uglag was sent by Sauron to Moria to lead the ragtag Goblins and will continue to do so. A small percentage of your Army will turn Rebel, siding with the Rebel Balrog. The Rebel Balrog, with some rebel Goblins around Khazad-Dum and Khazad-Dum West, will attack Khazad-Dum. After defeating The Balrog, your commander that leads to The Balrog's death should gain a "Balrog Slayer" trait, which should be a pretty big bonus. You also gain access to specialized Uruk Units, as Sauron is pleased with your decision. Lastly, you also gain positive faction influence with Mordor. In my headcanon: Sauron and Gothmog (King of the Balrogs) were both Lieutenants to Melkor in the First Age, and so Sauron isn't too fond of Balrogs themselves (they've never worked under him). This should be the easier choice.
2. Worship Durin's Bane: You can choose to worship the Balrog, Durin's Bane. Your current Faction Leader, and a majority of your army, will turn Rebel, fighting alongside your old Faction Leader. The Rebel Faction Leader, and Rebels around the area, will attack Khazad-Dum. Durin's Bane becomes your Faction Leader, with his bodyguard called "Nameless Ones" (basically "nameless things" from the books; they can basically be "mini balrogs" so there is only 1 true Balrog but the units themselves can still be a similar scale to him); they should probably be the best "monstrous infantry" in the game. After defeating the old Faction Leader, you gain access to some new Elite Goblin Units (one idea I had was a type of "Goblin Berserker" with low armor but high damage, and a "Goblin Zealot" that gives major buffs to your army, all representing Goblin fanatics of The Barlog). Sauron, seeing Durin's Bane as a threat to his power, you gain negative faction influence with Mordor (maybe they even become an Enemy towards Moria). This should be the harder choice.
I've also thought there should be a specialized event attached to conquering Goblin-town:
* Conquering the settlement (while The Balrog isn't your Faction Leader) should give your Faction Leader the title of "King", basically showing that you've united the Goblins and have become the new "Goblin King", giving your Faction Leader some positive traits. Maybe also have some various Goblin Units populate in the settlement, representing the Goblins flocking under the banner of their new Goblin King.
* Could be a cool nod if Goblin Town had the weird deformed Goblins in the style of the ones in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (not sure what could be unique about them at the moment). Conquering Goblin Town could unlock these specialized Goblins Units.

Gundabad has the whole subjugation script which is pretty cool. Super hard campaign compared to the average. Fun faction with lots of ways to play

I started playing DnC and I must say, that choosing Dúnedain as a first faction to play was a bad choice but a very fun one. I am currently fighting on 3 fronts against Angmar, Goblins and Dunlendings who attacked me quite early in the campaign. So I didn't even have time to finish Aragorn's quest, because I have to constantly defend and conquer, then defend again. :D Getting good troops is also much harder than what I'm used to in Medieval 2, because in Eriador, everything is sooooo far away! :D But when I get them, they're so badass.

I personally LOVE Dol Guldur, their units are a bit more elite-ish compared to mordor and they get nazgul which is amazing obviously. Their hard start being surrounded by enemies is action packed too which is fun. I do get where you come from tho, as they don't have any real scripts and fighting elves can get annoying.

I am a total Elf simp, so them being pretty much the best factions is a win for me. I am most partial to the High Elves myself because their leaders are awesome, their units are top-tier, the aesthetic is great, and the split starting locations allow for multiple paths of expansion, which I love (I played the Greeks a lot in Rome: Total War . . . I know I'm a masochist). That said, one of my favorite things to do in this submod is to play Gondor and retake the land of Ithilien and remake Minas Ithil from the Witch King's fortress. Playing Denethor more as he is described in the books is a good time, and it makes for some epic moments in campaigns. My last run had me defending Osgiliath and successfully repelling a several-thousand strong Orc army with only a few hundred men and it felt indescribable forcing them into a funnel and cutting them down. My main favorite besides that has to be Khazad-dûm. Balin was always my personal favorite of Thorin's Company and their roster is the tightest of the Dwarven factions in my opinion.

I agree generally, but if we're talking fun, the most fun I've had in a DaC campaign was with dunland personally. While I love elves in terms of lore, I find that really they all play the same. Sit back and let your archers shred through the enemy, half the time they won't even reach your frontline(which might also have bows/javs), and when they do it's out of the pan and into the fire. Dunland has a varied roster, and even into the late game, though of course you won't be defeating elves or dwarves 1for1; the unit availability, ap javelins, pikes, and cav that you have in abundace really make up for it. Plus the dunland soundtrack is kickass.
And to add, love the dwarves.... absolutely hate not having cavalry. No way to catch skirmishers.... no way to deliver morale hits, and no way to actually inflict damage on a mordor stack when every one of their units routs at 75%. Battle after battle after battle when any other faction can wipe a stack out in 1 even with 1 spare unit of light cavalry. No matter how inaccurate it is to the lore, for the way total war is played the dwarves just need cavalry like the have in the reforged mod.
Ye cool I’m glad you enjoy Dunland. I’m looking forward to them on v5, because atm I personally don’t really enjoy them that much (apart from the epic music).
Yes the dwarves do struggle a lot without cab but half of the enemies you face are heavy infantry focus, but I would like to see them have more cab options. Maybe even a scripted event where they become closer with a nearby neighbour and can recruit some of their basic cav?

My favorite is dunland for the music tracks 10 put of 10 music, the most immersive for me, it really feels like a random germanic civilization from earth plopped down into middle earth. Kinda weak units though but I'm OP at this point I enjoy the handicap, ballista is the answer for elves and dwarves.

Rohan definitely deserve to be at least a B, they may be a cavalry faction but the meduseld dorwards are one of the best spear units in the game, riddermark axeman are also a very good shock unit and a very strong economy

It's just my own opinion and how much I enjoy playing the factions, as well as the events and scripts that come with them. That's why Mordor is so highly rated, just because I love playing them for some reason :D

Isengard has always been one of my favorites, especially with the ring mehanic. Coolest looking units in the game. I can agree with the Haradrim, it was one of the first I played solely because I wanted to use the Mumakil, but the long slug it takes to get there was not fun and not worth it to me. Mordor was also incredibly fun, throwing countless hordes of orcs at Gondor until I got the ring and then I wrecked havoc. High Elves are also fun because of how powerful their units are, especially once you get the Noldor elves. Entire armies are decimated with only a few units. My favorite faction of all though is obviously Khazad-dum. The most unique and coolest mechanic in the game. Then fighting the Balrog, and the amount of money you can make. Was very rewarding to reconquerer all of the mountain fiefs in the game. I've also noticed that despite moria having the weakest troops, every single campaign I play where I am not directly involved in fighting them, they swarm like crazy. They were wiping out the High Elves, Aduin, and Dunadain practically all by themselves. It was a bit annoying. I suppose it's chopped up to the AI being bad and not utilizing the advantage of the good side units, or not being agressive enough, idk.

Ye Moria always does well, probably because of autoresolve more than anything, where the AI doesn’t think it can win because it has half the troops not realising it’s troops are 4x better 😆
Yeah I agree Khand is FUN, idk why in theory they should suck but they didn't, really cool looking units I love the samurai looking infantry, it's easy to imagine there's this gigantic khandish empire off the map to the east, like Mongolia relative to Europe, so it gives the impression that even as an evil faction you don't necessarily need to answer to sauron, you are emperor status in your own theatre that's what khagan is rather than khan.

I actually found, at least the battle gameplay, of the wildmen a fun change of pace. having a faction with a large focus on javalins is a breath of fresh air. having a LOT of anti armor, but having to figure out how to use it most effectively and often using tree cover more then usual. ive taken to checkering my dedicated melee in front of my javelins as bait to hold the enemy front lines so I can fill them with AP missiles. Also pretty fun watching mumukils and trolls dieing in half a second with massed javilins.

You can go up to fight elves and Bree or go down and fight Rohan or go even more down and fight Gondor from behind. Fighting Gondor when they dont have all their armies is so fun.

Try them not, go fight everyone else instead of Rohan. Its more fun to go North and fight elves, Bree and Dunedain, or go South and fight Gondor (they wont have many armies there, so you can conquer their lands).

Honestly playing as ered luin I had great fun restoring the vaults of beleriand with those amazingly OP pike units. defeating the balrog army was pretty hard though

i once won a campaign as the woodland realm in 75 turns. It was a short campaign, got 15 settlements, and dumbed the ring in the volcano. Ez, one of the most fun shorter games i've had

My problem with Rohan is that there is little flavour in their campaign. I remember playing them in original Third Age back in like 2009 and that's still kinda same campaign in DaC today, 1) rush Isengard 2) save Gondor. Other factions have much more going on, even classic ones like Gondor

Moria kinda sucks. But I also love playing them. There is no feeling of euphoria like the one you get when you take Imladris with stack after stack of Snaga and Goblin Infantry that have no reason to be winning those fights.

Ered Luin C tier? Their long spears are the most effective, OP, quickly obtainable, cheap, and they only suffer a few losses per battle because the opponent cannot get close to them.

I think I stayed at the start it was my opinion and that it was a mixture of the best and how fun I found them. Even if it was just mechanically best I would still say that would still be pretty subjective imo.

Just found this mod, and started as Dol Amroth because I played them in the Games Workshop game.
I can see the potential late game but holy heck the early game is maddening, my ports constantly blockaded, or heartland attacked by tiny fleets emerging from nowhere. Feels incredibly hard to afford enough troops to advance without going broke
Yes as I said dol Amrita is considered very hard, I’d recommend someone like Gondor or an elven faction to start with so you can get used to managing the economy vs troops as it’s a lot harder than vanilla :)

Enedwaith is a really fun faction to play.
Their units can be trash compared to others, but I LOVE to reclaim their lands, and create an empire from Scratch. Then, you can choose if you side with the good or the bad guys.

Dude you say "trash" for goblins of moria like it's a bad thing. This is the funest part of playing them. You throw trash at your strong enemies. Every enemy full stack, throw a cheap full stack of trash at them. For the cost of a full stack of dunedain troops you can make 3 stacks of trash and one regular army. You must have a stack of snagas for every army you send into the field. They are awesome, regoblin your expectations

I like the Goblins of Moria BECAUSE they're trash. There's nothing I like more than taking a small faction of nobodies and turning them into the scourge of the era. I particularly love the message you get when they start winning. 'Death has come to Middle Earth', like you're a creeping scourge spreading out and laying waste to all that is noble and good. You're not some noble elf lord, some great human or dwarven king, or some archetypal Dark Lord, you're a bunch of maggot-eating marauders who are all in it for the same reason; to have some fun and maybe cannibalise some elf maidens along the way. You do have to get into the full 'rapacious horde' mindset, but I have to say I got some satisfaction in surrounding Aragorn in his camp and filling him with arrows after outfoxing his much stronger army, or forcing my way into Lothlorien and extinguishing its light forever in what amounts to a bunch of orcs taking down what amounts to almost an eldritch location ruled by a practical demi-god.
(For those put off by this, I do like taking small good factions and turning them into the saviours of the day as well. I just wish the Tribes of Enedwaith wasn't quite as murderously hard a start. Tried spreading out slowly towards my recommended territories only for an Isengard doomstack to show up at my capital around Turn 10.)

I'm on 234th turn playing with High Elves and game started crushing during turn change, Ar Adunaim's turn to be exact. Game did crush before, many many times but just saving every turn solved the problem since it always continued, this time it won't. It crushes every time and always on Ar Adunaims/Mordor turn. I've tried reinstalling the game, didn't help.

Have you switched into Mordor to see whether they’re trying to do something stupid or collecting loads of armies in 1 spot which might crash it?
Look for anything weird or like I said a load of armies somewhere just chilling for no reason 😁

One tip the cheats are case sensitive so if it doesn’t work to start with try without a capital letter :)

I've turned of fog of war but no Mordor stacked armies, what I did find is that Dol Guldur and Orcs of Gundabad have bunch of armies surrounding Thranduil's Halls + one Mordor army so I thought that might be the problem. But, changing faction in mind game, at least in my case, ends the game immediately, not a crash but a pop up window telling me I've lost. 😕

When I played High Elves I wanted Mithlond so bad but I don't want to fight Lindon and fxxked up the trade with them and Ered Luin. Especially when they have that disgusting mini Sauron level Infantry(Mithlond Nobles) so I just let Ar Adunaim do their things and then I either buy Mithlond from them or just yoink it.
What version are you playing bro? Or are you just play TATW? Because I’m DaC the High Elves own Mithlond from the start 😁

@Red_Zed Which is why when I played Isengard I put three Catapults unit in front of the bridge(the bridge map next to Tarnost)4 units of Uruk-hai Crossbow on each side and shot Gondor and Dol Amroth into pieces. Each Catapult unit got like 800+ kill because they all clumped up on the bridge blocked with three Uruk-hai Pikemen. If it comes to bridge battle. I think Isengard is S tier.

I know y’all hate are gonna hate this but I think rhun is was over hyped, their early tier is trash, and then all the mid tier suck then the loke units are underwhelming as hell. Like shouldn’t they be just monsters on the field?! They aren’t tho. Their s tier troops are respectable but everything below that is just garbage.

Ye I agree they are not as good as you expect, but I think a lot of people still love them just because they’re cool as hell. Maybe in v5 they might get a bit of a boost, either that or you can play AGO where they start with the professional troops from the start :D
Having played Rhun and experiencing this exact situation, I have to agree. I still love my golden boys, but they have problems. I mean, the starting Daritai Crossbowmen I found to be significantly more useful on a consistent basis than the Loke Nar-Rim. Which is just sad. Arulad Dragonguard and Gamp-Rim always punch way above their weight class though for some reason. Arulad make more sense than the Gamp though. Innas-Rim are so fragile that they're kinda worthless even with their hard hitting nature. Flag-Rim really seem to oddly underperform for an AP unit too. I mean, my Gamp-Rim could kill 393 main-line Dwarves in a fight where the Flag-Rim only got 180. And the Dragon Wrath also seem to oddly underperform, I've seen them struggle (definitely win but slowly) to kill archers. They just feel weird.

I think the elves are overhyped they are strong as hell but it kinda makes the campain boring and the wood&lothlorien elves are to similar and therefore feel bland.
Hi Matis, thank you for watching the video and commenting. I do tend to agree with the similarity of the Woodland realms and Lothlorien elves, especially with their starting positions being closeby. But I do find playing them pretty fun, especially when your archers are just churning through orc scum for days :)

If you want to do that bro I would start with a mid tier faction such as Angmar or Isengard, a faction with solid units but nothing hugely special like the elves. Then look at what stats you want to balance, attack, defence, armour etc, then look at what you want your median to be and start to build units around that.
Each different type of unit will have different medians however, for example cavalry will need a greater middle charge than infantry.

I'm going to follow your advice, luckily I can do it with an algorithm that takes into account the number of soldiers per unit and I can check different attributes. They are many. There is a file called inside the mod directory and I was able to read it from my program. However, there is a clear imbalance between the elves and the other races because they have a lot of training and they don't have morale blocked so they will never give up and that makes the game unbalanced. they also have too much defense. I am going to equate all the units that have the same training and weight them with the number of units. So in battle they will perform very similar. Maybe it would help me if you could test the changes as they are. You only have to change the file that I mentioned for the one that I modified and that changes all the values of the units.
Goblins of Moria is the top tier faction, they can blitz and have cheap units. They can outspam any other nation with 3-4-5 times the units the enemies bring.
Fair enough, still would rather play any other faction for me :)
