As an Oregonian you did very well. We are a state of extremes on both sides and it shows. Going to the coast here means bring a sweatshirt no matter what time of the year.
I jumped into the water in August. I turned purple.
@@madeleinet8937 It was weird for me the first time I went to a California beach and did not see a sweatshirt or someone bundled up.
@@madeleinet8937 Same in Montana. There are so many glacier lakes it's hard to find water above 55 degrees in the middle of summer when it's 105 degrees. We swim in the river a lot. It's shallow water so it heats up a lot quicker.
Where I live in southeast Texas, the water is about 80-90 degrees in the summer and the temp during the day is low 90's and mid 70's at night with brown muddy water. At least at the beach, the sand is sand and not mud(looking at you louisiana) In the winter though the water temps drop to 54-59 degrees and temp during the day is low 60's and at night its low 40's. That's when we get a lot of Minnesota and Wisconsin ppl comin down to enjoy the freezing cold water that will make you numb.

As the son of an Oregon brewer I approve of this message. Although you did forget about the gas servants that normally gets a weird look from people too.
As someone who works at a gas station in oregon this had me cracking up cause so true. sooo many people from out of state get really confused.
Now that some more rural areas have self pump, it's just more confusing.
@@thomasjenkins5727 I believe that even in the rural areas they are supposed to be manned in the day but can be unmanned for nights & weekends. Having driven around on fumes in eastern Oregon after going to 2 closed gas stations on a weekend this makes sense to me.

Hi, from Oregon. And I have come to say I have dealt with a Floridian at a Local Renaissance Faire back in 2019. We told 'Him' it was a Bad Idea to ride the Hood of Car cause he was "Staff" and "On Duty." That night he broke his hip in one of the holes in the Forest Area around the Faire. And we still got the Ambulance going "He's from Florida." calmly to the EMTs.
He was then Tent Arrested by the Renaissance Faire Community in Oregon the rest of the weekend. To " Recover." From himself and in I think that same night his Tent Fell on him.
California and Washington (or at least Seattle) get all the attention. Middle children just have to be patient and learn how to mediate.

Lovin' it! The whale extraction alliteration was by far my favorite section. Dutch Bros is awesome as they use chocolate milk instead of water to make their hot chocolate (not everyone likes coffee, or coffee-flavored sugar). My parents live a few miles from D River (which flows from D Lake to the Pacific Ocean), so nice to see it show off a little. You're doing great, good sir.
Live in East Washington we get both Starbucks and Dutch bros by the way to much. Quick question do they all get put in the most inconvenient and traffic blocking spots?
@@alphaspursncowboys There's a Dutch Bros in the neighboring town that is apparently only accessible through the trailer park behind it. I spent a confused five minutes one day trying to find the entrance before giving up and going elsewhere.

You can still see the footage of them blowing up the whale on TH-cam. Its either the "statesmen Journal" from Salem or the "Oregonian" from Portland. I think its the Oregonian. And one ton of dynamite wasn't nearly enough to blow up the dead whale.
They dug a huge pit with a dozer and still they couldn't get it buried properly cause the water table was only three or four yards down. That area stunk for years and huge slabs of blubber and meat landed on peoples cars just trashing the cars including a cop car. The seagulls and coyotes and The neighborhood cats all feasted for a week until the City got it cleaned up. I believe that the state and the company that blasted the whale all got sued for destruction of property. It was a complete clusterf@&k.

Tony...The Whole West Coast is a Harbor, but yeah Depoe Bay is Kinda small.
My grandparents owned a cabin at Depoe Bay. We spent lots of great family time in the 70’s and 80’s. It was a completely run down shack but very fun in its rustic way. Now that whole area is now more part of “town” and has apartments in its place.

Tillamook was fairly close. Should be more of an e sound like "tell me about it" but still close.
I learned how to pronounce Willamette by making it rhyme through the phrase "its Willamette dammit" just for the Pinot Noir wines
Yeah pinot should have got a mention but we don't want to ruffle napa/sonomas feathers.
@@ThePelagicLumberjack Napa and Sonoma know they dont have Pinot like Willamette. The climates are different it ends up with a different taste. They can have their good Cabernets in Napa and good Chardonnays in Sonoma.

I grew up in Cali Tillamook cheddar is the only way to go. Their smoked aged extra sharp cheddar with some real sour dough bread BBQ and some thin sliced London Broil. Best thing ever!!!!!!

For future reference, Willamette is pronounced Will-am-it not Will-a-met. We actaully have a local slogan, "It's Willamette, damn it!" to help teach transplants because it rhymes, and because we react very strongly to it being mispronounced.

Here in Portland, we count how clear the air is based on how many volcanos can be seen.
I live a half mile from a fault line that cuts through the Columbia Lava Group that goes over the Boring Lava Field, that is in the remains of the ancient volcanic island Siletzia (the island that formed from the original location of Yellowstone Hotspot). Here in Portland, from a good view point on a clear day, you can see 6+ volcanoes or volcanic vents.
Its the same with Washington concerning the Umbrellas. I only use an umbrella if its gonna soak through my clothes in the five minutes of my 20 minute walk to work.
And so much homeless.... Like so much especially in Portland.

Yeah, when there's no wind. Which is rare to never. However, it is fun to watch the few that do use them try. It's my favorite spectator sport and with the sideways rain and wind several of 'em get more wet as the umbrella turns inside out. Really quite enjoyable actually. Especially from inside the Dutch Bros. coffee house or Starbucks coffee shops (or insert other coffee/tea shop or brewery).
