I’ve been checking out my local charity shops for dvds and blu-rays lately and I’ve pick up quite a few mostly for 99p each and some are recent releases
Sorcerer! What a film! What a score! Shame to see that none of the releases of Sorcerer feature the alternate European edit.... (that version is available elsewhere online, mind you)
I'm now caught up on all the episodes! In my collection I also have director sections , but opt to arrange them chronologically (as you do with the woody Allen section) I'm guessing alphabetical makes it easier to find things without having to remember whether Sidney Lumet made Fail Safe or The Pawnbroker first!
Thanks Phil! Yeah, it really does depend. Alpha is usually my go-to way of organising, but with Woody Allen I found so many people wanting to explore his career chronologically it made sense to make an exception.
In the Mood was a decent VHS rental for me back in the day. Not sure why the young and much more gangly Patrick Dempsey was so often portrayed as a hit with older women. See also Loverboy and Meatballs 3. I still think Can’t Buy Me Love is his best movie. Phil Alden Robinson did indeed direct Sneakers, and the heartwarmer Field of Dreams. Oh, and I totally agree that Thursday is a masterpiece and I own the DVD and rewatched it recently.
I paid to see that remake of the Crow at the cinema a few weeks ago, and it is the first film I’ve walked out of since Vertical Limit around the turn of the century. Not sure which is worse tbh Kneecap however is a 10/10 🎉
Hey Dave, in the erotic thriller stakes it seems Vinegar Syndrome are about to give you Sliver on 4K no less. I’m surprised VS hasn’t done a Night Eyes Boxset with all 4 installments. Why hasn’t any boutique done a Shannon Tweed boxset? Next to Sharon Stone, Shannon Tweed surely the next reigning queen of erotic thrillers.?
If only. Either myself or Matty spoke to Fred Olen Ray recently, who socialised with Andrew Stevens. He seemed to hint that Andrew is a little mortified of this past life - esp since having kids etc - so currently has no plans to give them a life on Blu. Hopefully this changes, similarly the rather conservative trend of being horrified by nudity.
Kneecap is mint, one of the best of the year (that I've seen so far).
Love your set up. I'm new. Movies forever!

Welcome friend. How did you find the channel ?
I think that REC holds up as well today as it did when it was first released. Easily my favourite found footage type movie.

The more I watch Sorcerer the more I feel like it's Friedkin's best, which given the Exorcist and French Connection is high praise. Incredible film.

Ouch!! That doesn't bode well!
