They should have had a bunch more survivors so we could at least gotten some nice dino-on-human violence, when you got just the one adult and a little girl you know neither will be in real danger.

Really bummed that this film wasn't better, it was my number 3 on my most anticipated top 10 for 2023 purely for the dinosaurs cause the Jurassic franchise is all we have. Oh well maybe in a few years we'll get a better Dino film.

Maybe you should buy the old tv series-TERRA-NOVA,it 's a show set-up with plenty of dinos and humans,give it a try if you're interested. It may be on youtube.

What I like most about this Movie was that it was Original, and didn't try to sequel bait or set up a franchise, and I appreciated it very much for that.
I felt like they kinda did. Maybe the planet the survivors came from kept an eye on earth… thats why they looked like us
I would love to have seen a mother, son action drama story.
Apparently the film went through some major reshoots, due to negative audience reactions at test screenings. This led to many things being cut or reworked, such as a fight scene between a mutant Triceratops & a deformed Ankylosaurus being cut. Wouldn't surprise me if the whole "Alien world turns out to be the past with dinosaurs" angle was originally a Twilight Zone style twist that was changed & brought to the forefront due to said test screenings.
Reshoots are definitely killing movies

Reshoots wouldn't change a thing, only 2 actors means they're surviving to the end and got nothing to worry about.

@@beeaveragegaming3482 For here it did change a lot. An original subplot was about the girl caring for a dinosaur, which we saw got written out with the reshoots. The movie benefited well as it was turned into a short PG-13 sci-fi horror with dinosaurs.

Between this and the last two Jurassic World films, I just can’t understand why Hollywood just seems to hate dinosaurs now, it’s soul crushing.
I think it’s more they are scared to portray them as we want due to children and sensitivity of blood and gore
@@cartrellbouknight410 Dinosaurs shouldn't just be marketed towards braindead/mentally challenged kids, this is one of the many reasons why JW: Fallen Kingdom & Dominion were such dog-shit. Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal is a great example of how to do both animation & dinosaurs for grown ups. And honestly fuck the triggered Karen parents if they're offended.
When the 1st trailer dropped, soon as they showed the Jurassic World girl, I said to myself asa joke, "Wouldn't it be funny if they were running from dinosau..." 🤣😂💀

I think this story would have worked fine in a sci-fi anthology series. There's a few full length Sci-fis in recent years that would have been better as an outer limits episode.

Dinosaur films really need something with the aesthetic of primitive war, turok, Dino crisis, and etc. You can have accurate designs and/or monstrous designs idc. But make the dinosaurs interesting and recognizable at least. And have a story that’ll do something a little different and exciting
I really enjoyed this movie. People can say what they want about Sony’s Film division, but at least they have the balls to take chance. People are tired of the father and daughter trope. But some many films have been made since then. We live in a day and age where it’s hard to be 100% original. I feel like execution is more important the originality. You can have an awesome premise, and bad execution. You can have an okay premise and great execution. The execution of 65 was good. I only wish there could have been more suspense and more dinosaur action.
I think the human dinosaur hybrids could've worked if it was a horror themed Jurassic park spinoff set on an abandoned island
@@piplup2009 To be honest Jurassic Park has always been horror themed and some of the dinosaurs did have a bit of human dna in there for the World trilogy

I walked out of the theater. I could take how minimalistic this story is to the point saying it's half-baked is an understatement
It's just bad timing, this story likely relies on the father daughter bond and we currently have a good adaptation of one of the best father daughter stories on HBO.
I remember seeing this trailer and thinking ok so "dino crisis"? That sounds pretty rad. Just give me dinosaur set pieces. Wasn't disappointed at all.
I agree with the white guy, this dinosaur movie was a lot better than the Jurassic World sequels. A breath of fresh air. Because it was simple, and it was very realistic for a change. It was brutal and it was scary. No annoying humour and no silliness.
This Month of March is jam packed full of movies. HollyWood hasn't had a month like this even before covid.

It needed a twist or a second gear. When he kept telling her not to eat the fruit, it gave me an idea for a better story.
I know what you’re referring to. I kept thinking that might’ve been the case but was hoping that it wasn’t. I guess it could’ve worked with time skips but it probably would’ve sparked a religious war online 😅
Its good to be straight forward. If you add in too much then you get a JJ Abrams mess as most of the movie ends up with unanswered questions.

This movie just didn’t push the envelope at all. They could’ve added a Neanderthal or something. Have the caveman have the language barrier instead of the little girl. Have Adam Driver’s weapons fail halfway thru and have the caveman help him build weapons from scratch to fight the dinosaurs. They could’ve shown more dinosaurs, they didn’t show any herbivores. They just could’ve done more.
I agree they should have shown more dinosaurs, but having cavemen would have turned the film into a joke. The aliens looking exactly like us is already pushing it too far. Add cavemen coexisting with dinosaurs and it's a 1960's B movie with modern visual effects. That angle could work if they made an intentionally campy and humorous "retro" film, or an over the top animation like "Primal", but that wasn't what they where going for.

Why does the envelope need to be pushed more? Its a fun short rollercoaster ride with dangerous dinosaurs. Would you rather have a good enjoyable story opposed to a messy long story that may be enjoyable?
@@chris9206 story doesn’t have to be messy/long, but if you’re going to spend millions on a film, make it interesting. After Earth and this movie are almost identical, just swap aliens for dinosaurs. We all just watched The Last of Us, so we just saw the father daughter trope. There was just nothing special about this film.
@@nuffsaidny After Earth is mostly uninteresting compared to 65 and both are completely different movies. After Earth is about an alien threat on an abandoned Earth that had the animals evolve into humanity killers that basically follows one bad actor. Also After Earth badly bombed.
Whats wrong with a parent/child trope? Its a horror staple especially in a post apocalyptic setting. Heck both A Quiet Place movies focused on that, which those writers wrote 65 and was shown well within the movie. In all honesty if you liked the Last of Us then you would like 65.

Someone should make Dinosaur horror, like I Am Legend or 28 Days Later but with Dinosaurs taking over either a first or 3rd world country.
Reign of Fire is sort of close to that idea, if you haven't seen it definitely check it out.

4:54 There was an episode of Emira, Pinky, and the Brain- that I recall watching. That involved Brain wanting to resurrect dinosaurs as part of his world domination continuing plot. In order to serve them up as a competitive fast food dinning experience. And become a global chain restaurant franchise juggernaut. Which I remember thinking, that...that may actually be a solid ideal. Brain came up with a lot of stinkers. But that plan had good basis to work on.
While I was disappointed by this movie I don't think it's terrible like I don't think it's worthy of a 30% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes. With that being said I hope this movie does well enough that Hollywood studios will want to make more big budget dinosaur movies outside of Jurassic Park as we could use more of those.
I’m not saying that Jurassic park has copyright on what Dino’s should look like but what I will say is that the Dino’s in 65 look like damn Ninja Turtle mutants

I saw 65 matinee yesterday and that’s the score I’d give it. Whatcha see is whatcha get, was fun.
Y'all brought how this could have more, and I agree. When first hearing about this film it seem like it was "Jurassic World meets Planet of the Apes" 🤔 and instead it looks like a better and more expensive version of After Earth 😅.
Apparently they filmed a lot of outdoor scenes at the town I live at I got to meet some of the camera crew since I was working at the hotel they stayed in
🤔I believe Cocaine Bear may serve a commentary undertone. It's a deconstructive look at how the cocaine or "drug" bear, effects the connected society as a whole. With each human archetype in the film, representing a faction of society. Plus. If they are looking to harpoon a sequel branch installment. They can do- Viagra Dolphin next. Followed up by- Ecstacy Spanish Fly as the final in a trilogy. That last one would be more an X-rated adult take on.😅
The advantages of A Quiet Place is the fear of the unknown. We are dinosaured out! We didn’t know anything about the monsters in AQP. Also dinosaurs don’t have super powers. You shoot them and they die. The monsters in ADP were like the flash with indestructible armor until the final ten minutes.

Time travel should have been involved in this movie where they use wormholes in the future to transverse space and relative time. Having a accident where the wormhole opens up back in time and because of the gravitational field around the ship they accidentally change the trajectory of the asteroid that will wipe out the dinosaurs, but would have passed by if they didn't appear kinda completing a predestination paradox
With the setup time travel wouldn't make sense. At the same time no time travel is a breath of fresh air.

Honestly I thought it was pretty good fir what it was....Although I would have liked more variety in the dinosaurs and also to have an extra seam Adam driver and the little girl Bond over something
I was so excited to see this, and I found zero enjoyment. There's ZERO tension. Directors struggled to create suspense.
They picked Driver because his head is as large as a dinosaur's. Boy got a big head.

This is just my opinion and I'm really not looking to have to defend it but if you've seen one dinosaur movie then you've seen them all. From the moment I saw the trailer i though "Jurassic park with guns?" Or "Skull island: Father , daughter Edition". There's very little variety when it comes to prehistoric creature film. Run ,hide, survive, creatures fight people ,creatures fight creatures the end. This looks like Jurassic Park, Skull Island, and After Earth genetically spliced together to form a frankenfilm about dinosaurs hunting people who have futuristic weapons. How original
I thought the movie was entertaining so it got the job done…but it has a few flaws. It’d be a high rental.

i just watched this movie it was ok there was just to many trying to get there scenes and so called jump scares. pretty much like those scene where the person is running from the killer or ghost and they get in the car and it wont start or those dont have sense enough to get out the haunted house rather it be scifi horror drama whatever but there is always those scenes that dont make any sense.

This movie was pretty good.
Not disappointed at all I don't get it why people want more complex. I get it when I saw it but hey if people want to think then I highly recommend Attack on Titan
If they wanted a twist they could have subverted our expectations by hiding the fact that it was earth but there wasn't much to the story beyond that.
It wasn't really said it was Earth until you got to the theater. Guessing you aren't a fan of dinosaurs being scary in a short horror movie?
I had fun with this. I went in expecting hot Adam Driver fighting dinosaurs and that's what I received. I'm pleased.

With them being aliens this movie really hadn't to be Prehistoric Earth with dinosaurs. It could easily be any random fictional planet with fictional monsters on it - it wouldn't change much... it wouldn't change anything. Except for tittle probably.
I agree with Korey. This movie was kinda lazy. They beat the daddy daughter story over the head. It would've been better if most of the passengers on the ship survived the crash and the group were trying to survive Earth and get home. Low Rental for me.
Would’ve been better if they ship actually landed on the planet with all the passengers. Then they find out they were tricked to land on Earth full of dinosaurs. That way they are more battles and more people in danger
