- This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new 2024 Chevrolet Traverse mid-size, 3-row SUV. Gone is the V6 and the 9-speed automatic transmission, the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse is now using a new 2.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder with an 8-speed automatic transmission, 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque. Chevrolet modified the previous 9-speed transmission by changing out the torque converter for enhanced drive quality while maintaining the same towing capacity of 5,000 pounds. In Canada standard AWD. In the US FWD and AWD models are available.
There are three trims in Canada and four in the US, there is the the top 2024 Chevrolet Traverse RS model which is the sportiest looking of all Traverse models with back exterior accents, 22” wheels and red interior accents. There is also the new 2024 Chevrolet Traverse Z71 model which has a more rugged look, it has a twin-clutch setup to optimize its off-roading capabilities, almost an inch more ground clearance than the other models, an off-road tuned suspension and 18” wheels with all-terrain tires.
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse has a new standard 17.7” diagonal touchscreen and 11” digital driver display which really highlights the interior. The outgoing Traverse had a standard 7” touchscreen, available 8”, so this is a big change. It’s a 7 or 8-passenger SUV depending on the trim you choose and it’s very spacious offering fantastic overall cargo space at 98 cubic feet.
MSRP for the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse in Canada starts at $47,999 CAD, Z71 $53,999 CAD and RS $62,899 CAD.
In the US, the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse LS FWD/AWD $37,600 USD/$39,600 USD, LT FWD/AWD $40,000 USD/$42,000 USD, Z71 AWD $46,400 USD and RS FWD/AWD $54,200 USD/$56,200 USD
2024 Chevrolet Traverse AWD fuel economy is 12.4L/100 km, 19 MPG city and 9.9L/100 km, 24 MPG highway.

I was waiting for this review! Thanks
Hi Guys !!, Very impressive with the new Traverse, thanks Zack you look like a king on the back, like the content. Thank You and have a great day and enjoy your stay.
I agree all models should have a optional second row bench seat. Georgia is a great State. Was there this past December and Savannah is a beautiful City. Hope you both enjoyed your time in Georgia.
A cute couple that works so well together.
Glad you continue to mention lack of available 2nd row bench in Z71 and some other trims. Bulbous vehicles like these need maximum utility including benches.
Great Job Chevy! I had a 2019 Traverse and enjoyed it but his looks so much better.
Great review you two , yes its very quite inside even my 2010 is very quite . Glad to see the refinements and the outside style now looks great .My 2010 bench second is nice but the middle position is tight between the seatbelt locations.
Great job GM.
Looks to be truly competitive with other 3-row SUVs like the Palisade, Telluride, Grand Highlander, Pilot, etc. Price point is huge. They’ve done a nice job.
I think Chevy hit the ball out of the park! Very impressed. :)
Great review
awesome video, thanks for sharing!! U2 now flying around the US to test different cars... I like what your opinions about this car, I do like it, but this is 3 rows based, i think it quite big for me... if they have 2row version, it will be my consideration for sure.
Great report as usual. Pricing is quite reasonable, I was surprised!
Chevrolet is bringing next level comfort and quality to their brand.
The RS model is sharp on the road !
Another great review 😎
You guys are really good at this. Signed, JimmyZed.
great review! love this car, real buttons and knobs are a necessity to me, glad to see they keep those there.
I cannot believe you came to Atlanta and didn’t stop by. I guess turbo 4s are going to take over the world. I have a 2022 4Runner and will be driving it for many years. My wife has a new RAV4 hybrid. This is after many years of Chevrolets, but little aggravating problems drove us away. Hope you enjoy your visit.
Well by the way things are going y’all may wanna circle back around. This blows the Toyota out of the water for the same money.
Super acceleration both and looks super in red too. A big car that has to come with a big price tag? 🎉
Chevy always makes their large SUVs very quiet. Wish they would do the same for the Equinox, Blazer, etc.
Another first class review. Does the ride and refinement filter down from Cadilac?
Agreed with you guys. They nailed this. A very strong offering in the segment. Time will tell for reliability (I didn't know they had a 2.5T engine), but they should be able to sell every one of these they can build.
Great job and video as always! I agree with you both regarding the second row bench seat. Chevy, come on! Gives us the option of a second row bench seat even in your higher trim models. I love everything else about the new Traverse, especially the Z71 model/trim. But, not having the option for a second row bench seat in the higher trim models is ridiculous and is probably a deal killer for me. Guess I will check out a new 4Runner or Land Cruiser and see if they offer a second row bench seat.
Very good review. My wife and I will definitely consider the Traverse probably about this time next year.
One thing I would like to see form more testers, is sliding the second row up to a position that is comfortable, and then seeing how much room is in the third row. Many vehicles have so much room in the second row, that sliding the second row forward for third row passenger room seems practical.
I also agree, that it would be nice to have the bench seat option for higher models.
Thanks again for the good reviews.
I second that. Don't only show us the legroom with seats pushed all the way back on their tracks.
LOOKS GOOD
Nice review.
Good cars. I had a 2016 now 2021. My 2024 is on the way. All positive so far.
Do you lease or buy/sell your cars?
Totally agree with bench seats on the top trim
Lies again? Big Ass Car USD SGD
I was shocked with the price! Well done Chevrolet! I hope they are reliable as well. Great review once again!
yeah, its GM, they have never been reliable... perhaps if its made on mondays or tuesdays of the week.
Cool vehicle and it’s great for the large family. I don’t mind a red trim. It’s looks sexy. 😉 A beautiful video shot of what looks like a country road. 👍🏻👍🏻 Great show Andrea! ☕️☕️
You mentioned the cabin noise. I have a 2023. I really enjoy it and I have the RS. My biggest gripe though is the cabin/wind noise. Is there a noticeable difference between the two. I have been thinking about trading in for the newer model, but this is a major concern for me. Maybe it doesn’t bother others, but for me it’s a big deal. What are your thoughts?
Kudos to GM for great looking SUV inside and out.
Can the new 2.5 Turbo Four run on regular grade gas? If yes; does the power drop?
Life expectancy: 4 years or 80k
Finally the video is out. Looking to cross shop this with VW Atlas. Not sure about Chevrolet reliability wise though. VW Atlas is not up in the charts reliability wise as well.
Hoping for a comparison video between these two in near future.
Definitely more reliable than a Volkswagen
@@chudson4500totally agree! Had a VW for a few years. The price of the extended warranties give a clue on cost and likelihood of needing. On the VW, they were 2-3x more than our Ford or Toyota… when I check Chevy warranties they were more in line with Ford and Toyota.
Man you're kind of picking between one bad option and another bad option for a reliability...... VW or GM for long-term reliability even the resale isn't great.
@@swissmrkc Unfortunately those are the only ones that would meet the needs. Atlas more so as it has second row bench on the top trim.
Can't get the Toyota due to it being the top pick for thefts, Pilot looks too outdated with that mini infotainment screen.
The Ford Explorer has offered an optional 2nd row bench seat for a number of years now. I just wish they could get their quality under control.
6 speakers? Tesla 3 has 17 for less $.
I wanted one. It just wasn't available and then add dealer Mark ups especially the hybrid
I ordered my Z71 in red three weeks ago. Should be here by late June.
You came just as days are getting warmer
I’m not happy about the 4clT vs a 6clT but also noticed it’s a 2.5L so at least it’s not a 2.0 like what you would find in an atlas
No fog lights?
Is the turbo water cooled
I like it but I like our 2022 Suburban RST with the 3.0 I6 diesel more.
Wait a couple of years until they work out any issues...same for all manufacturers
I believe the New GMC Acadia has a much better styled exterior and interior especially in the AT4 and Denali trims. My Money is on the GMC. The second row bench seating must be offered in all trims of both the Traverse and Acadia. The Tablet style display in the Acadia makes more sense to me. I do like the side marker lights on the Traverse over the non-existent ones on the Acadia Elevation and Denali trims. The most popular trims will be the Chevy LT and Acadia Elevation trims. Power passenger seat on all trims is a must on all trims. I can not wait to do my test drive of these two new vehicles!
Nice vehicle but, no passenger power seat except on RS model. Also bench seats are not available on all models. This alone makes one shop around for better options.
This is right one for people been wishing to have BMW x7 for family but couldn't afford it !! Here's we are today Chevy traverse RS or Z71 only . Why I said that because just look at center control of this From as screen, buttons control radio, AC, almost same BMW styles. Oh engine specs are almost same numbers
Damn that z71 need the bench!!!
I do find it odd that the RS trim traverse gives you Super Cruise standard, but the upcoming GMC Acadia, Super Cruise is only an option on the Denali trim. Feels like it should be the other way around
RS is the most expensive trim level. They have to have it on one of the trims standard.
@@talkischeapc9 you’re missing my point. The GMC Acadia is the upscale version of the Traverse and on top trim to top trim they are almost identical in price and I think it’s weird that GMC wants to charge an extra $3500 for super cruise when Chevy gives it to you for free.
@@DeadAir21 tbh the GMC brand used to be upscaled versions. Now they are just designed for an older generation.
Agreed. Denali is the top of the line in the GMC/Chevy lineup so should come standard with everything.
The problem with turbos is that they need to be warmed up fully before cooling down. Unfortunately, many trips are short like going to grocery store, and thus never get hot enough. This will shorten the life of the turbo(s) over time.
Much better looking. This would’ve been a better Blazer than what they did.
I own a 2012 GMC Acadia with the V6. Same size vehicle. it's s been very reliable and its got 220,000km. Do your oil changes every 5K.
A turbo 4-cyl pushing this size of vehicle won't be as reliable
@@talkischeapc9time will tell but if you keep up with oil changes and let the engine idle for 30 seconds or so after running it hard to cool the turbo it will probably be fine. Even Toyota is going to 4 cylinder in their larger vehicles.
@@BrianNC81 I agree. Keep up with your oil changes and do not follow the manufacturers recommendations of 10-15k oil change intervals.
@@msalvag our suburban diesel is 7500 interval but I change it every 5-6k. Do it myself so it's fairly inexpensive. Do the same with our Toyota that recommends 10k changes. Manufacturers publish these extended intervals to get points with the EPA and save $ when "free" maintenance is included.
I really like the Traverse and Acadia redesign, but I'm so skeptical about Chevy reliability. Our 2nd gen Equinox was kind of a nightmare in terms of repairs. Happy to move on from it to our current gen Pilot.
Happy to see those two cup holders behind the center console arm rest. So useful. My wife and I both roll with a tumbler of water and usually stop for a coffee along the way. Thats four cup holders in use if my math is correct. So many manufactures miss this and it’s shocking. Lay flat rear seats, column shifter freeing up console space, useful and abundant cabin storage, quite cabin and smooth ride-they nailed it. Did I mention cup holders? A good example of form following function. The only big downside is GM collecting and/or selling driver data from these tech heavy vehicles.
Please compare it with the updated Ford Explorer 2025🥰!
That's my big interest, too. I've had several Explorers because I needed the cargo space and wanted the big horsepower. My '17 has been an excellent vehicle that I'd like to replace "just because". Another consideration is the massaging seats, which really increases the distance one can comfortably cover between pit stops. 😊
Happy with my 2024 Palisade Caligraphy :)
Way more features for the top trim, better fuel economy even with the V6 and nicer inside/out plus top materials.
Not bad this Traverse too !
Did Chevy put the audio controls on the front side of the steering wheel?
They are on the back
We have extremely hot weather in the middle east, turboes are not reliable during the summer season.
Tubo engine usually requires higher octane fuel + requires changing the oil frequently
I always buy the highest trim and having captain's chairs are stupid idea (at least make opetional) this is 3 rows car that mean I want to carry more people why captain chairs
My replacement vehicle for our jerking 2020 Hyundai Palisade
The General did a good job on this new vehicle (update). I am very impressed… both inside and out. I’m personally not convinced about GM’s reliability, so my advice would be to stick with a Lease. Or… as I might do… RENT one for a weekend (cottaging or long distance trip). Their addressing interior sound levels impresses me. I think to get the general public to get real excited, I might suggest ‘doubling up’ on a Limited Run trim. Bring back the Typhoon or Exorcist (Camero?) trims. Go from a 2-1/2 Litre single turbo (320-ish h.p.) to a 5.0 Litre Twin Turbo. There’ll always be some yahoo who will write a cheque for more than a hundred grand for something like that… has that sorta taste (or money). Even if you paint a Fiery Giant Chicken (Phoenix?) on it’s bonnet… or rather it’s ‘hood’. Regardless, I still like it! Thanks for the video.
That floating roof line shark fin is so unrefined... I like the GMC side profile more but Chevy front end.
Even if it's not as reliable as a Toyota Grand Highlander or a Honda Pilot, the MSRP difference, interest rate difference, and the typical dealership-level discounts that are offered by most 'domestic' brands, it would still be cheaper to repair and run this over a 7-10 year timeframe than the two Japanese offerings.
Good points. Resale value will affect that calculation though.
@@steveboyd3455 true that. Although, now that I think about it, if you plan on keeping your car for up to 10 years, would resale value be your top priority?
@@tanayvasavadaagain there’s nothing that suggest this vehicle will be less reliable than either of those 2 Japanese offerings.
@@G-Rated absolutely. My wife used to drive a Malibu. No complaints, great vehicle. The used car market is sentimental though. It prefers/favours certain brands over the others though, so I also understand what the other commenter was opining.
@@tanayvasavada Agreed! Just depends I guess on how long one keeps a car. My current CRV I bought new in 2009; just finished it's 15th year.
Can't believe there no head restraint for the middle seat in the 2nd row...😢
Reliability remains to be seen!!!Because GM has developed a reputation for putting out garbage and worrying about the consequences later.
The google based nav is nice. You don’t have to worry about android auto/carplay.
I would love this with a Toyota hybrid underneath.
I like the exterior on the previous model as a “family car.” The c pillar on the new one looks weird for me.
Blom masuk indonesia chevrolet traverse terbaru
Had so much problems with 2018 traverse from day 30 it’s laughable, not kidding don’t buy any past used traverse, seriously you think you bought a deal there is reason for that, whatever you think you saved by buying traverse you’ll spend double on repairs. So, I’m kind of skeptical about the new traverse but, on the flip side I ended up with awesome 4Runner. Traverse can traverse itself to an oblivion !
I bought a used LT Traverse with 26k. 100k later only had an issue with USB port and Shift to Park issue. (Covered by warranty) Besides that its been solid. Sorry you had so many issues with yours.
I am Korean.
Thank you for the review
I have some questions.
1. Does the RS trim have a HUD function?
2. Is it possible to go forward and backward with the vehicle remote control from the outside when parking?
Its probably just me and quite minor...but its good that they change the color of the chevy emblem ...for some reason i dont like the gold or yellow logo- feels old.
I love the Trim piece behind the C-pillar (sharkfin piece) makes it look sleeker ❤🇨🇦🇺🇲😎.
What would be the best 3 row suv in your opinion? Used or new, budget 45k.
Nice video guys, something weird on the fuel efficiency as usually 2WD vs AWD doesn’t decrease fuel efficiency that much. That’s a big difference on the highway MPG. Are those numbers accurate?? as maybe the Z71 due to off road capability is 19 city and 24 highway. I’m thinking the RS AWD should be 19 city and 26 highway
I am so excited for another 4L turbo engine! I can't wait to test drive what the car companies are forcing down my throat. Also less than 7 in of ground clearance for a SUV? I root for a car company who will keep a good V6 engine around. This is a pretty minivan for the folks not wanting to buy a minivan.
Driveline will be the question of whether it is a great vehicle or not, time will tell, I would go with Toyota for the great track record and reliability and resell.
ZED FTW
Regular or premium fuel? Not a fan of the red dash. Everything else looks good.
Regular fuel
What is the deal with the car industry. In my experience any American 4 cylinder engine has problems sooner than later. Why would GM take out the V6 in the second largest SUV besides the Tahoe?
I assume GM hasn't yet removed Apple Car Play per GM's earlier announcement?
EV only
When you list the pricing are you including destination and fees?
We mentioned in the video it is MSRP. 👌
I really like this new Traverse but no middle bench seat? Having bucket seats in the middle is not a good idea for hauling people.
Chevy and GM are not very reliable w/new models. I’d wait a year or two to see how this new transmission and overall reliability work out. However I think it looks a lot like the Toyota Grand Highlander, and that’s a good thing
Should be fun to replaces once the clutch goes
I still like my 2024 Buick Avenir with the V6.
🙏🙏🙏
Looks nice, but I think I'll keep my Grand Highlander Hybrid Max Platinum.
no disrespect, but how do Canadians get 'Zed' out of the letter Z?!? WTH? BTW, extra gears keep you in peak revs quicker and more easily, and get you better gas mileage. And yes, I know you know this, but not all viewers do. You're welcome.
Zed is the last letter in the English language, as in the way English people speak and they too say Zed, as does Australia, New Zealand and all other English speaking countries.
No thanks on the full touch screen
I do prefer more overdrive gears as they improve fuel economy.
"Accelerates so good.." yea can you count to 8 seconds
No switches or buttons for headlights, auto high beam, heated/ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, A/C recirculate, A/C heat mode, and more!
You have to go into the screen menus to operate all that and more. What was Chevy thinking…oh yeah, save $$!
I’m convinced folks like you are looking for anything to complain about. Nobody will have an issue with pushing a few digital buttons on a display this large and clear. Headlights including high beams are *automatic.* Heated steering wheel has a physical button on the steering wheel. Please STFU.
Just bought a Honda CR-V. We had looked at the Pilot, the Kia Telluride, etc... It looks like the Traverse has sort of copied the outsides of the honda CR-V and Pilot, and taken the interior from the Kia Telluride. I do like the red accents that they put into the interior. Reminds me of what Samsung did with one of their laptop and TV lines back in the early 2000s. The red on black is a very nice touch. I love that combination. Never drove one of these though. After getting our Toyota and Honda cars in the early 2000s I'll never go back to Ford or Chevy. I'm older now. There won't be time. But I found in general the quality of everything just isn't as good and the American companies will let defects sit in their product lines for decades before fixing. Not lying. Chevy had cracked dashboards on their camaros for years and never fixed it. Ford had a capacitor in their steering columns that would catch fire even when the car shut off. If it was in your garage could cause the whole house to burn down. Ford let that defect go for at least 12 years and it was in several different vehicle lines. Mine was in a 1988 mustang. Near the end of the 1990s and I think even into the early 2000s they were still doing recalls on this defect. I just can't do business with companies that only care with making the sell. I remember on my Camaro I had a light in the ash tray that got displaced. When I finally got to see what the problem was. The light was held in place with a piece of electrical tape. The adhesion after years had simply lost adhesion and thus the light bulb got displaced. Cheap cheap cheap.
These small displacement engines with turbos are just not going to last on these larger vehicles.
Literally making sh!t up out of thin air. 2.5L is not a “small” engine especially for a 4 cylinder that’s turbocharged. All of the fear mongering tactics from y’all are hilarious.
The stock holders love the extra profits that come from cheaper engines w/ higher price tags these new 4cyl offer.
@@G-Rated for large vehicles such as this one it certainly undersized. As it will be working at too hard too much of the time to get this size vehicle down the road. Not to mention the additional maintenance and driving requirments to maintain reasonable reliability both in the short and long term.
@@matthewhenderson2236 again, zero data to support any of these theories. The weaker 6 cylinder moved the larger outgoing Traverse just fine. This 2.5T is more powerful than the 6 cylinder it replaces and the power comes earlier and with less effort which means this motor isn’t working nearly as hard to move the vehicle.
Здравствуйте. Я. Авто. Дизайнер
Almost change to this car, but the storage so small 😭
Where do you get that from, the reviewers didn't mention a lack of storage space?
Storage is awesome, even cargo space
@@EdMiF my previous car is VW Atlas, and I compare it to its. Seems smaller
@@Michaellllllllllllllll
The Traverse has always been one of, if not the roomiest and spacious of the large crossover suv genre.
By the numbers, the Traverse has more cargo space than the Atlas.
Historically Chevy’s reliability has been suspect. My daughter bought a Cobalt back 8ish years ago. She had me go with for the test ride and while everything inside was screaming at me to take her across the street to Toyota, like my dad did with me, I had to let her learn on her own. What a piece of garbage that was. Once the warranty expired the poor kid poured 1000’s of $ into it in repairs. All that is to say that I hope these new Chevy’s are much more reliable.
Sounds like a Honda civic on a huge SUV 😂
I hate to admit I like the way it looks, but reliability's probably going to be a bummer.
Tbh!! You guys always seems pro to every vehicle you test drive why not straightforward say which one is most reliable plus insurance cost etc for a proper informed review 🤔
Ehhh....not for me, nothing made sense with some of the features. 8" screen is perfect. 12" is just excessive, a bit ridiculous, and redundancy feature. V6 is the proper size for an suv. All they could've done is refine and add more power and torque to the V6. And please stop putting sun roof/panoramic on a vehicle. It's just an added expense and a costly repair.
GM is still somehow incapable of designing acceptable taillights with proper separate running, brake, and amber turn signals. The more things change, the more they stay the same...
aint nobody buying a Chevrolet Traverse in sorry haha
