This program brought me to tears. My 3rd great grandfather, Levant Van De Bogart, was a volunteer Union soldier who was admitted to the Home in 1897, passing away there in 1901. He's buried in the adjacent Wood National Cemetery. Seeing where he spent his final years, knowing how lovingly his home has been restored and that it still carries on the support he received touches me deeply. I'm very grateful to all the people involved who funded & restored, those creating a modern healing place, and to those who created this documentary.

What an honor having such beautiful history in the city. It’s awesome how appreciative the current residents are. Thank you to the Andrew Company, specifically Jonathan, for helping veterans return to their home, the Milwaukee Soldiers Home.

I think that we rode around there, when we were kids. The roads were empty. A Priest told us to get out of there. We laughed and sped away on our bikes. Is that possible, that this was that old building? A family member lives there now. It's hard to understand, but there he is.
