The video title says, “Car with new battery won’t start,” yet most of the tests require the car to start. How does this help when your car won’t start? That’s the entire reason I watched this video.
Great video. A lot of people including myself would have changed the alternator, but showing us what to check before spending close to $300 on an alternator was great information.
Awesome job on explain step by step about alternator and battery. The lady has not only earned my respect but also a subscription as well. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I once went through 4 alternators trying everything before giving up and took the car to a dealer- a bad sensor was preventing recharge of the battery. A low charging system can cause running problems too until it dies
Lots of good info here! Thank you for taking the time to share. If I may be so bold as to offer a critique; I didn't hear you tell us to check fuse continuity in ohms. Looking at the video it looks like you checked the fuse for its voltage. Stay safe!
Good video! One comment: you said the battery isn’t doing anything when the engine is running because the alternator is powering everything. The batter still acts like a buffer/surge suppressor, which is why they say to not drive a car without a battery. The battery still protects the numerous sensitive modules and sensors.
When using a hydrometer, you need to draw in enough solution (known as electrolyte). There is a line very near the top of the hydrometer which shows how much electrolyte you need to get an accurate reading. In the video the indicator was floating at the top of the electrolyte, limiting it's travel. Also, the hydrometer needs to be held straight (vertical) You have already determined that the alternator is putting out a charging voltage, rendering checking the fuse a moot excercise. If the alternator is NOT charging, then test the fuse before condeming the alternator. Low voltage at idle can also indicate a load on the battery which the alternator can not keep up with at low idle. You cannot to a voltage drop test unless there is current flowing through the conducter, which means alternator running. A voltage regulator controls the maximum output voltage of the alternator. control the voltage, and you control the current (amps) output of the alternator. Please, A-1, if you're going to put out a video, use a knowledable auto technician.
That was super helpful, thanks! As a not English speaker I’m struggling with understanding what my mechanic trying to explain me, so this video is my homework before going to the service 😅
My 2008 gmc sierra 1500 starts good. I decided to replace the battery due to age of 4yrs with a new battery. Installed it and now it won't crank. So I am putting my charger on it.
One really common problem is leaking valve cover gasket dripping oil on the alternator. I have seen too many covered with oil from the leak and go bad. Putting a new ine will go bad shortly after until thenoil leak is fixed
I can remember rebuilding alternators for about 10. Can't find any kits now. Just high dollar refurbished junk that costs more than a brand new OEM part. Anything electrical I highly suggest OEM new.
your chanel put good content but in this video there was 2 mistake ,the fuse should be check on the ohm setting not the volt, and for the ground side testing of the alt should be tested engine running for voltage drop .tks good video
Thanks much for your video. I have a 2000 Camry LE when I turn on my car the lights the high beams sometimes dim. I've taken the Camry to different auto parts stores to have the battery and alternator test. They all tell me they test okay. But to me not all is okay. The high beams still dim. This is 23 year old wiring I'm dealing with. There are multiple grounds on this Camry. So where do I begin to hunt this down on this Camry. The Camry was given to me now I see why. I will get it fixed one way or thee other. Again thanks much for the video.
I have 15’ Corolla , put key in no power at all . Disconnect negative , reconnect bammm starts every time . Thought bad ground but Rong again.??? Any ideas
My 1997 Ford Aerostar van ran perfectly until yesterday, I replaced the battery today: no click (s), no dashboard indicator lights, no so sound (s), no corrosion on battery, no nothing: just dead silence💀 My next step is a Junk Yard. Should I junk it?
Like when my Cummins diesel says "check engine " but it's a computer fault with the DEF injection that stops the engine. Engine was running fine. Flipping EPA.
One question. I have a new alternator, new battery. It started for a few days, I tested the voltage under load and it was charging the battery to 14.3V but now the battery is bad (second battery)
I LIKE YOUR VIDEOS BUT…New battery testers have a switch that let you test the ALTINATOR ….less complicated Ms,Mechanic…respectfully….some of this IS over the head of shade tree mechanics like me.. SLOW DOWN Show use the idle bar u used in the car AND SAFETY RULES WHEN USING EQUIPMENT WHEN DOING SOMETHING LIKE THIS. MY HIGH SCHOOL SHOP TEACHER SAID NEVER EVER LET FAMILY, KIDS. LOOKIE LOOS STAND INFRONT OR BEHIND THE CAR. ALWAYS BLOCK WHEELS SO CAR WONT ROLL. IT ONLY TAKES SECOND FOR YOU TO DISCUSS. I FEEL YOUR CAR PASSION PLEASE ACCEPT MY CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM. This video came right on time, Wow. This is a miracle. Thank God.

Goid video! Sounds like what you need to check is the engine oil level. Those lifters sounded like they were DRY!
Very good advice, always check the alternator.

She was great in explaining the alternator enjoyed it.

Lady you are amazing
Thank You hopefully i can get my 85 Scottsdale to start with your information!

Love 💘 this channel. You guys are awesome! 🥰
Congrats on your 2 million 🎉🙏👍
The irony is, she is a professional. A damn good one too.
Very thorough and educational. Thank you.

Testing the fuse while removed with the meter in voltage mode, how is zero a good fuse? shouldn't the meter been in ohms/continuity?
What was the alternator fuse tested for with the one meter?
Thanks for the tip
Good video.
Do you deliver to eastern ontario canada. Love your shows
Most batteries are all sealed now. How do you test your alternator if the car won't start??
I have 15’ Corolla , put key in no power at all . Disconnect negative , reconnect bammm starts every time . Thought bad ground but Rong again.??? Any ideas
You ran a ground side voltage drop test with the engine off. You can't perform a voltage drop test without current. The engine needs to be running.
Great info!

What if it's NOT the alternator. Newer Car and Truck have the start button.
Sounds like the starter solenoid is bad and needs replacing.

When you check the fuse on What did You had The tool to know the Fuse is good
What's the issue when the charge system light comes on when the vehicle reaches 20mph and the gauge is far right to 19?
battery good, alternator good, dashboard lights on, car does not start except booster. any suggestions????
Thank you

What can I do?
Great Video. You guys are awesome. 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
Grounds to the block can be a problem I have experienced many times.
I always check my throttle body first......its been clogged wtih carbon junk before and wouldnt start. I cleaned it,it started.
How do you increase idel rpm

No help if the car won't start!!
You invented hiding / back seat mechanics.
You’re awesome. I need you to make me cool
👍
This video is useless my car won't start how am I supposed to do anything she just said.
aint many women like that around
