  • What is an Air Classifier, and how does it work?
An air classifier fundamentally utilizes airflow to distinguish between fine and coarse particles within a mixture, relying on the aerodynamic characteristics of each particle, such as size, shape, and density. During operation, a mixture is fed into a moving air stream, where an ejector unit first accelerates the particles. Compressed air is then introduced through a feed nozzle into the classifier. Utilizing the Coanda Effect, the airflow adheres to the Coanda block. The trajectory of each particle within the classifier is determined by its inertia, which is influenced by its size. Smaller, less inertial particles are more influenced by the Coanda Effect and stay closer to the Coanda Block, while larger, more inertial particles resist this effect and travel further in the carrier air jet. Adjustable classification edges allow for precise particle separation by size, greatly enhancing accuracy and efficiency. This technique allows the air classifier to effectively sort particles into various grades or sizes, which is crucial in industries like mining, food production, and the production of battery-grade materials.
