    Thanks, Dave. Sound information and I will certainly check out the programs you mention. And thanks for reminding us to check our hard drives on a regular basis because I haven't done it in quite a while. I do back up though, just to be sure to be sure. :) I love the pace of your videos and the fact that there is no thumping bass in the background and you speak calmly and clearly. Just what an instruction video needs. Cheers.

    0:29 - Use The Command Prompt.
    1:31 - Windows ' Check Disk."
    2:58 - CrystalDiskInfo
    4:58 - Hard Drive Manufacturers Software
    6:23 - Hard Disk Sentinel
    If you're like me & you've bought a new HDD and want to check it *is* brand new and unused, skip to step 3 or step 5.
    Also, thanks dude, great video; super clear and to the point! I've just ordered a new 5TB HDD from Amazon, but Amazon are notorious for selling returned/used items. If a HDD has been formatted, will these softwares still show me how much it has been used/turned on etc?

    • @EasyPcRepairs
      @EasyPcRepairs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you! Yes, if your HDD is formatted, the info will still show up. So if your HDD has been used for 100 hours, drive then formatted, then used for another 100 hours, it will show up as 200 hours usage. It will also keep track of the number of times it's been powered on, formatted or not.

    Thank you for the info. I was searching for items that would help with this issue. I think my laptop HD is failing, so backing it up will be step number one! I figure that any method of isolating bad sectors will corrupt the OS.
    BTW, It appears that someone has just taken your specific 5 methods and shuffled them around a bit to create a "
    5 Methods to Check your Hard Drive Health in Windows 10 | Know about Bad Sector" video (uploaded 3 March, 2020). They even use the same two third-party tools as examples. That jumped out at me as, per my searching, i know there are other third-party tools they could have shown. Not much can be done about it, I'm sure. Just though you should know..

Died, data recovery techs looked at it said was damaged. Disk check didn’t see issue but was dying anyway. So to reliable. Never moved computer let alone reason for it to end up damaged happen non the less. Ideal to ALWAYS have it backed up!

    Hello, Sir.
    Great video...
    May I ask something?
    Normally, how long is the life span of WD internal HDD 512GB which being used in Asus X453M?
    I have been using it from 2015 till now.
    I have checked the disk using the steps you tell in this video.. and everything is ok..
    I consider to change from Asus to Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3i 14IAU7 Intel i3 1215U and use the old disk from Asus to be the addition storage.. Is it ok? Can you give an opinion for this case?
    Thank you..

    • @EasyPcRepairs
      @EasyPcRepairs  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A Western Digital HDD will typically last for about 5 years if it's used as the main 'C' drive, though this will vary depending on how much it has been used and various other factors. But a WD HDD that is not the main drive (perhaps the 'D' drive for example) will typically last for around 10 years. Again, these are just rough estimates. Some will tell you how their WD drive has lasted 15+ years and is still going strong.
      I think it's a good idea for you to use your WD drive for additional storage, but check its health now and then with one of the tools that I have shown in the video such as "CrystalDiskInfo".

    My laptop hard drive is almost 7 years old, many turn offs without shutting down like I press the power button to restart, the power goes out, I often carry it in my bag with hard shaking, sometimes beaten by my sister, install lots of games. Now it's a little slow but after I defrag everything is a little smooth again.
