I have watched the mountain men show for several years and will continue to. This show and others educated me to the understanding that we should all learn how to be self sufficient so that we will be prepared when our society and civilization breaks down.From what I am experiencing and the way our country is going, that might not be too far in the future. My grandchildren really need to learn these skills.

He is a brilliant man who holds many degrees and i love to sit and talk with him. Unfortunately i didn't get to meet Preston, he was working on his mother's or mother-in-law's roof that week. Turtle Island is a peaceful calm place. I love that you don't hear airplanes, helicopters, trains or traffic. His role in life is to teach others. He especially loves the kids. I saw it myself.

I noticed a change in Preston towards the end of the series cause it was like he just didn't have the energy he once had in prior shows..I'm pretty sure he was feeling bad way before he found out he's having problems cause I could see it in his eyes on a tv screen. In person ida most likely noticed the change alot more but he just kept trying to keep going and it ended his life before the Dr's could do anything to help him. I'm broken down now from helping people out that expected more of me. I wish he'd went to a Dr way before he did cause maybe he would have been around awhile longer. If I noticed a close friend slowing down and showing signs of energy levels dropping I'd be asking how he's doin and pushing him into seeking medical attention
And I sit here rewatching all these clips saying the same things I'd say while watching the show "Put in some damn safety glasses". (While using the chainsaw.)

The funniest episode was to me. When he and Preston, he rode the horse to town to pay his property taxes. I was kind of scared for the horses. I am curious whether he was affected by the flooding from Helene and Milton. Does anyone know?
I lost respect for Conway when he did that stunt of riding his horse into Boone to pay taxes...That was strictly for the show...Should never have put the horse into that situation since he did have other means to get to the town...
I watched the original episode where the truck met it’s demise! It was a red truck on a dirt road in the middle of the woods! They discovered a problem with the tow hitch and got out to fix it! When they unhitched the the truck it began to roll down the hill and before Eustace could get in to stop it it veered down an embankment,overturned and broke up enough that it could not be fixed!
I purchased land in the woods and built a home and fought the county every inch of the way. It seems like inspectors were part of a club with members of different trades who dislike homeowners 'doing it themselves' rather than hiring them. Have to say however how "sustainable" is owning a giant excavator, or army of chainsaws and so on. The word sustainable got worn out in this video, I call it survival at any cost.
I was in Boone in 2022. I found the entrance to Turtle Island. It's marked with no trespassing signs! I took a couple of pictures and left. I respect a person's right to privacy.

Why do people think useless is a mountain man he lives a quarter-mile from a giant development his friends and neighbors hast to take care of his broken down run down equipment he’s always owing taxes on his property he’s nothing but a bum that needs a haircut and a job.
