Anti-Septiceye and Darkiplier set my fate. It may seem cringy at times but if it wasn’t for those videos I wouldn’t be an actor or currently in my final year of a film degree. That era of videos changed my life forever and I have never been happier. I still visit all these videos to this day as a reminder of where it all started.

Nah Anti and Darkiplier was literally one of the coolest horror dynamics on YT back in the day. Really creative twist they put on two beloved youtubers, and these characters represented "what would happen if these two content creators everyone loves were suddenly replaced by an evil/twisted psychopath alter ego?" The contrast between them is so badass and well thought out and I wish there was a movie about them lol
Especially when it was supposed to "I am Eternale" but with the accent came out sounding different. But it is still one of the most iconic Memes there is!

@@wilfrido1lora Yeah, I assume it's something to that extent, but holding your younger self in contempt - and cringing at people doing stuff in general if it just goes into the 'embarrassing' category - to me feels like a lot of emotional energy that could be spent better. My approach is to always learn from your mistakes, and always appreciate the growth you've achieved, but if you don't let yourself or others truly explore life, you can't expect them to find their right place in it.
As a video editor, that NON-STATIC shot with Anti in the background is sick. And I agree, the fact that it’s not perfect (bc that’s basically impossible) adds to the effect

A small detail I love from the Halloween Anti vid is the soft, distracted "tha' fuck was that?" (time stamp 12:01). It's not precisely or overly enunciated, the line is not too loud or hit too hard, which lends it the naturalism Seán wanted to achieve - it doesn't sound like a line at all, it just sounds like genuine slight confusion.
I admit that back when the antisepticeye stuff was coming out, even though I knew it was fake, it genuinely creeped the hell out of me, because I had no idea what was going on
JJ was always my favourite after Anti. I was sad to see he wasn't a part of this video until I got to the end. I'm glad Jack hasn't forgotten about him and hope to see more
It’s actually quite wholesome to see Sean look back at most of his old stuff with pride (cringing at a few of them) but it’s nice that he appreciates his growth as much as we do
I'm so bummed that the JJ stuff wasn't as widely liked as some of the other ego content. JJ is my favorite ego by far, and I love the stylistic nature of the videos Sean makes with him. Really lets him stretch his creative muscles, IMHO, and the hard work he puts into those videos really shows. I really hope he makes more JJ content in the future.
as a film student and fellow film enjoyer i absolutely love the attention to detail jack puts into his work. it feels so much more complex and thought-out when you watch videos with his egos and can actually analyze things and notice new things with every rewatch. it feels rewarding as a viewer to catch onto them, not like you're reaching or looking too far into it. can't wait to see these characters and their stories developed further!

As someone who was obsessed with the alter egos and especially anti, i find it so fucking nostalgic just rewatching these especially with jack himself. I was just starting highschool around that time, now i’m out of highschool. It’s almost surreal watching them again. My god
21:08 is a brilliant moment in more ways than one. If you’ve never experienced a fugue state or its aftermath (and I hope you haven’t), this is almost exactly what it’s like. I have even heard similar noises to that sound effect as I became aware again. It’s a very clever moment that mimics life (albeit an unsettling and unusual experience) in a truly cinematic way.
It's so funny to see his reaction to videos that although your older self may believe to be cringe, have marked and inspired generations of people. The Halloween pumpkin carving but was legitimately a favorite of mine for decades and still is. Thank you Seàn for giving us such fond memories to this day 🙏 we love you no matter the goofiness you bring!

I love how this whole universe was basically Sean doing what kids do and making up stories and characters and he actually got to do all this cool stuff like the IRIS stuff and the comic book. Like that is the coolest thing to me.

I didn’t even realize that JJ was signing the word for “help”, I’ve been learning ASL for the past year and finally noticed it in this video. That’s amazing! Also I’m glad to see silly characters get such big character developments. I’m sure at the time you just thought of these characters as stupid video ideas that didn’t go anywhere but that’s not the case! It's kinda been a tick for me ever since the "Say Goodbye" video. Whenever Sean plays horror games now and he's immersed in acting a bit, I HAVE to check the description if any of Anti's little zalgo text is there. Anti has inspired a lot of people more than the other egos by far. :D

Anti is chaotic and crazy, but at least you know what to expect with him constantly losing his shit. Dark stays so calm and collected, it's unsettling, then when he temporarily snaps because he isn't getting his way, it catches you by surprise.
I love the egos I grew up coming up with theories about them all, to the point when I came out of the closet I chose the name Jameson to link in with the joys I had growing up watching jack and the stories he made along the way
I did a similar thing when I realized I was genderfluid and started coming out to people. I picked the name Emile in reference to Dr. Picani from Cartoon Therapy. I have an interest in psychology and wanted to tie in to my love of Thomas Sanders in mental health. So cool to see others did the same.

Honestly, some of my fondest memories were watching anti, sister location, party hard and resident evil biohazard. I would come home from school and the first thing I would do is watch the newest episode of those. Good times.
I love his non-verbal approach. The glitches and distorted sound...Sound has always been such a cool element to me. You actually have to think about it and soak it in.

Respectfully, I don’t think Seán wants to repeat himself. He even said it, in this video, that he’s moving the Ego Lore in a new direction. Hence *I.R.I.S.* the *ALTRVERSE,* and so many other cool revelations he hasn’t shown us yet! If Seán had Trey pepper in the same types of glitchy appearances, I think most people would end up unfairly comparing him to Robin, or Alice (She goes by both names). The whole reason Seán stopped making Ego Content is because he didn’t have enough confidence in himself, viewers were putting way too much pressure on him and he wanted to eventually go further than just retreading the same-old-same-old. Please don’t get me wrong. I’m not shitting on older Ego Content. But what Seán is setting out to do now is move the story forward, not backwards.

God I remember watching ‘say goodbye’ and ‘chase brody’ when the videos came out and younger me was just in awe at the cinematography and the little Easter eggs sprinkled in the videos. Not to forget one of the charity streams (I think it was the first thankmas) where it had the overnight security feed where we got to watch anti was AMAZING. Ugh the memories and nostalgia

As a German: Don't worry about it. If we got upset about every non-German person faking a German accent we'd all be permanently angry. Honestly, I find most of them hilarious and am impressed if they happen to pronounce a randomly thrown in German word correctly, extra-impressed if they get the grammar right (which is rare).
i love seeing this type of content, and the fact that the older ego videos still hold up today is a testament to how amazing they are. they started as such simple characters and we're now getting fully fleshed out ARG type content, and now comic books?! incredible. so satisfying to see the evolution of these characters as a long time fan. also seeing Seán get so excited by his older videos is so sweet. literally cannot wait to see more!!! also the fact that CHASE came out 4 years ago is fucking wild.

Even if Jack thinks the Ego content is "Cringe" now I personally will always hold a special place in my heart for all of them and all the animated and comic dubs that appeared with em. plus it was my first ever introduction to what an "Ego" character is, and it was a trip for my lil baby brain back then. also Antisepteceye vs Darkiplier is *PEAK CINEMA* idc
The “chase” video enthralled me so much to the point where I asked to do extra revision for my media studies course for my GCSEs based on that video because I found so much that I could write about every time I watched it whilst I was in year 11 and just every time I watch that video I noticed more and more things unintentional or intentional doesn’t matter in media studies. If it’s there you can write about it, so I showed it to my teacher and asked if I could write about it for practice as homework, and when I did, and I came back with it about a week later, they were amazed by it, because I’d never put that much effort into my homework before, but it was because I was so enthralled, and almost kind of enchanted by the video and the character himself, and just the artistry behind it, that I found myself writing more and more and more because I could just see so much that could be symbolising things maybe or just kind of accidentally helping at ,least me, understand the character Chase on a slightly deeper level with certain placements, and even the warped-ness of the camera itself and those sorts of things and actually helped me with remembering media studies language and being able to get a really good grade in my final GCSEs! This video unintentionally helped me in an academic sense, because it helped me with a lot of the media studies language that I was struggling with remembering, and it actually helped me get a much higher grade than I would’ve had. I not asked to do that extra homework based on it. And I couldn’t be more proud that they even made the video itself as you can see how much effort and care went into it and it’s just amazing through and through, I honestly recommend anyone doing media studies in GCSE to use that video as at home practice for writing about connotations and how the character placement can be used to symbolise, isolation, or even the cool tones when chase is in the scene when compared to the warm tones, when chase isn’t there and what that could connote or symbolise. It’s honestly really helpful and highkey very inspiring. Thank you for the effort you put into those videos séan they’re so well made and very inspiring 🫶🏻💚

As someone who was obsessed with the alter egos and especially anti, i find it so fucking nostalgic just rewatching these especially with jack himself. I was just starting highschool around that time, now i’m out of highschool. It’s almost surreal watching them again. My god
21:08 is a brilliant moment in more ways than one. If you’ve never experienced a fugue state or its aftermath (and I hope you haven’t), this is almost exactly what it’s like. I have even heard similar noises to that sound effect as I became aware again. It’s a very clever moment that mimics life (albeit an unsettling and unusual experience) in a truly cinematic way.

I love how this whole universe was basically Sean doing what kids do and making up stories and characters and he actually got to do all this cool stuff like the IRIS stuff and the comic book. Like that is the coolest thing to me.

Edit: Looked it up and you’re correct. BSL is the when you place your domain hand on your flat non dominant hand. ASL would move them both forward.

It's kinda been a tick for me ever since the "Say Goodbye" video. Whenever Sean plays horror games now and he's immersed in acting a bit, I HAVE to check the description if any of Anti's little zalgo text is there. Anti has inspired a lot of people more than the other egos by far. :D

@@LyraPyxisVT To put in D&D terms, I see Darkiplier as Lawful Evil, and Antisepticeye as Chaotic Evil. Anti is chaotic and crazy, but at least you know what to expect with him constantly losing his shit. Dark stays so calm and collected, it's unsettling, then when he temporarily snaps because he isn't getting his way, it catches you by surprise.
JJ is still one of my favorite egos and I hope Sean does more with him. He’s just a lil’ guy.

I love the egos I grew up coming up with theories about them all, to the point when I came out of the closet I chose the name Jameson to link in with the joys I had growing up watching jack and the stories he made along the way
I did a similar thing when I realized I was genderfluid and started coming out to people. I picked the name Emile in reference to Dr. Picani from Cartoon Therapy. I have an interest in psychology and wanted to tie in to my love of Thomas Sanders in mental health.

Honestly, some of my fondest memories were watching anti, sister location, party hard and resident evil biohazard. I would come home from school and the first thing I would do is watch the newest episode of those. Good times.
JJ is one of my favorite characters. I really hope he makes an appearance, especially after Anti took him over.
I love his non-verbal approach. The glitches and distorted sound...Sound has always been such a cool element to me. You actually have to think about it and soak it in.
Oh gosh, feeling so nostalgic about all of this!!! I was 14 at the peak of all the Anti stuff. I have such fond memories of piecing together all the stuff from the videos, theorizing with friends online. Really one of my favorite memories

Respectfully, I don’t think Seán wants to repeat himself. He even said it, in this video, that he’s moving the Ego Lore in a new direction.
Hence *I.R.I.S.* the *ALTRVERSE,* and so many other cool revelations he hasn’t shown us yet!
If Seán had Trey pepper in the same types of glitchy appearances, I think most people would end up unfairly comparing him to Robin, or Alice (She goes by both names).
The whole reason Seán stopped making Ego Content is because he didn’t have enough confidence in himself, viewers were putting way too much pressure on him and he wanted to eventually go further than just retreading the same-old-same-old.
Please don’t get me wrong. I’m not shitting on older Ego Content. But what Seán is setting out to do now is move the story forward, not backwards.

I loved the community imposed dynamics between the egos, JJ was always the 'youngest brother' type dynamic and Schneep a 'wine aunt' type thing. Thats my childhood there man. God I remember watching ‘say goodbye’ and ‘chase brody’ when the videos came out and younger me was just in awe at the cinematography and the little Easter eggs sprinkled in the videos.
Not to forget one of the charity streams (I think it was the first thankmas) where it had the overnight security feed where we got to watch anti was AMAZING. Ugh the memories and nostalgia

As a German: Don't worry about it. If we got upset about every non-German person faking a German accent we'd all be permanently angry. Honestly, I find most of them hilarious and am impressed if they happen to pronounce a randomly thrown in German word correctly, extra-impressed if they get the grammar right (which is rare).

i love seeing this type of content, and the fact that the older ego videos still hold up today is a testament to how amazing they are. they started as such simple characters and we're now getting fully fleshed out ARG type content, and now comic books?! incredible. so satisfying to see the evolution of these characters as a long time fan. also seeing Seán get so excited by his older videos is so sweet. literally cannot wait to see more!!!

Even if Jack thinks the Ego content is "Cringe" now I personally will always hold a special place in my heart for all of them and all the animated and comic dubs that appeared with em. plus it was my first ever introduction to what an "Ego" character is, and it was a trip for my lil baby brain back then.

The “chase” video enthralled me so much to the point where I asked to do extra revision for my media studies course for my GCSEs based on that video because I found so much that I could write about every time I watched it whilst I was in year 11 and just every time I watch that video I noticed more and more things unintentional or intentional doesn’t matter in media studies. If it’s there you can write about it, so I showed it to my teacher and asked if I could write about it for practice as homework, and when I did, and I came back with it about a week later, they were amazed by it, because I’d never put that much effort into my homework before, but it was because I was so enthralled, and almost kind of enchanted by the video and the character himself, and just the artistry behind it, that I found myself writing more and more and more because I could just see so much that could be symbolising things maybe or just kind of accidentally helping at ,least me, understand the character Chase on a slightly deeper level with certain placements, and even the warped-ness of the camera itself and those sorts of things and actually helped me with remembering media studies language and being able to get a really good grade in my final GCSEs! This video unintentionally helped me in an academic sense, because it helped me with a lot of the media studies language that I was struggling with remembering, and it actually helped me get a much higher grade than I would’ve had. I not asked to do that extra homework based on it. And I couldn’t be more proud that they even made the video itself as you can see how much effort and care went into it and it’s just amazing through and through, I honestly recommend anyone doing media studies in GCSE to use that video as at home practice for writing about connotations and how the character placement can be used to symbolise, isolation, or even the cool tones when chase is in the scene when compared to the warm tones, when chase isn’t there and what that could connote or symbolise. It’s honestly really helpful and highkey very inspiring. Thank you for the effort you put into those videos séan they’re so well made and very inspiring 🫶🏻💚
