Vic was a military commander, and a ruthless one at that. On a number of occasions, he was the only one to return from missions, because he killed the officers that survived. It was an attempt to make him look more heroic to his superiors. On top of that, he hung anybody who dared defy him in any small way, or if they had caught him in the middle of his nefarious deeds. Those who survived him were blackmailed and threatened into submission. One man, Sentry, decided to take matters into his own hands. He enlisted the help of another sergeant to bring his crimes to light. Vic caught Sentry and killed him, but the other sergeant managed to escape unnoticed. After retiring from the military, Vic lived with his wife in an apartment building. Years later, his war crimes started to come to light. Rather than face the music and atone for his crimes, he burned down his apartment building, which included a nursery on the bottom floor. Sirius, having relived Vic's life through his hold on him, cannot bring himself to set the fire. He feels Vic's evil influence on him, and it’s draining him of his life force very quickly. The All Mother can’t reach Sirius, as he has lost consciousness. If he doesn’t get help soon, Sirius will die in the Keywork.
I havent been able to read all the books yet, but if you love the music youll come to love it even more after you read and connect the stories with the music. They just dont make art like this anymore folks, support Coheed and keep the dream alive! I own a couple albums, a t shirt, and a hoodie that I bought at the 2nd live show I saw of them. I cannot afford it all and all right away but I go out of my way to try and send these guys the money they deserve to keep making art. Nobody buys every single piece of music they listen to these days, but I encourage folks to buy CDs and Deluxe editions whenever they can. It feels good to not only own a hard copy of the art, but you feel better knowing you spent actual money on who you support, and not just a tenth of a tenth of a tenth of a penny for a listen on Pandora or something. Long rant sorry.
+Elijiah Bartle Basically this is a prequel to the amory wars its about a scientist named Sirius Amory (Sy-rus) who goes into space to find out what the keywork(binds all planets together) is made of, when entering he almost dies and is attacked by 3 entitys, domino, holly wood, and vic. he has to live through their lives and towards the end he is almost dead until a 4th comes along named evagria, she is 1 of two entitys he meets that are actually helpful and this album ends off with him drifting in space almost dead. its much more complecated thats just a basic premise. trust me there is a lot more for you to discover if you dig deeper.
@@deleted_user00 if you wanna go story order.. year of the black rainbow is the beginning, then second stage, Iksse3, good Apollo, good Apollo 2 nwft (which is the end ) then afterman albums are it's own story set before everything focusing on Sirius Amory, then the 2 Vaxis albums starting the new story
Coheed and Cambria has to be one of the best bands out !!! and im totally serious.. the stories the sounds the lyrics the vocals .. unbelievable and incredible..Rock onnnnn !!! Bands need to learn from these guys

Late reply, but they have two comic anthologies, Second Stage Turbine Blade (SSTB) and In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth:3 (IKKSE). Start with those then read the novel, Year of the Black Rainbow.

Spoilers ahead: In the afterman comics, a prequel to the amory wars, Sirius (Sy-Rus) amory builds his own space craft and suit along with all-mother, an ai unit who pilots the ship and watches over him, and these entities are actually spirits of the dead, coming to Sirius thinking they can claim his body for their own and return. Of course by fighting them he comes dangerously close to death, drifting in the keywork, thus the medical speak as all mother monitors his vitals trying to communicate with the ship which has been destroyed in the attack
I kinda feel bad for listening to all these guys' songs on TH-cam. I'm buying the discography on payday, they deserve my money.
They get money from youtube views too.
@@pirosoffaireyes Not enough though for their efforts. I'm resubscribing to Tidal soon.
Buy the neverender dvd set and watch them tell the tale live, I was there all 4 days it was awesome
You tube views and advertisements helps with making money
It's ok. The record company takes most of that money anyway. Buy show tickets and merch. That's the best way to make sure a band gets paid.

No, no, no - Vic was just Coheeds neighbour at the time, flaming gay alcoholic chainsmoker. A stark Royalist. Nice guy
No no no. If a layman listens to this song, it's about being dirty. No war General lyric
I listen to you guys for 10+ hours a day, thank you for sharing your spectacular talents and story telling.

This is the theme song of my car. It's been on repeat since October 9, 2012.
"You're the prettiest thing I have ever seen..." Beautiful part
This then elgravia are my favourite parts of the Afterman.. perfect..

i love that they are respectful enough to rarely have a guitar solo in their songs, even when they do its just a quick shred.
Respectful? What does that even mean lol are solos offensive? 😂

this song is so badass
this song is fucking killer. I mean so is domino the destitute but goddamn this song. so badass
My all time favorite has to be sentry the defiant though... Just cause fuck vic really lol. He was an ass
A butcher, even.
The whole album. This is wonderful.
I played this song in my DJ set the other night
coheed is the best
I wish it didn't take so much time to go back and like all the songs I passed while busy and like them.
This song reminds me a lot of circa survive
I think that if this song had a video, it would be rather disturbing, considering the concept of the song.
I feel like this was written and sung by Horus Lupercal from 40k
Best Track Of the album :D !
Da...lalalala lalala!!!!
AMAZING
Listen to every album. Then read The Amory Wars
I wish I had a copy of the synth and piano at the end of this song. Makes me shed a tear
"Come with me, I want to make you, dirty!" Beautiful indeed.
🙏
Fucking love this track!!!
Agreed :D It so needs a music video :3
hang your secrets....hang them up, hang them up now....
the only thing as awesome as this song is claudios hair
Pretty new fan here. Can anyone tell me the story like in this album?
It's a prequel to the Armory Wars (Second Stage Turning Blade - Year Of the Black Rainbow) and talks about the afterlife And how Mari dies
So if you hear both Ascension And Descention you'll find the beginning of those Albums
dat solo
I'm newish but I was going to get the comics, what should I start with?
