Six months after Sirius' supposed death, Meri went to a bar called the Fair Lady to drown her sorrows. Between losing her spouse and the guilt she feels over how her relationship with Sirius was entering a rough patch even before he left for the Keywork, Meri had quite a lot on her mind. When Meri arrives at the bar on her own, her presence immediately attracts the attention of a local lowlife named Dyer Grinlock. He immediately strikes up a conversation relating to her wedding ring, and wonders why any man would leave his beautiful wife to drink alone. This makes her feel uncomfortable, and that feeling only intensifies as the night goes on, culminating in Dyer slipping a "friend at the bottom" into one of her drinks: an illegal, tasteless, colorless sedative. Luckily for Meri, an undercover cop named Graves Colten saw the whole thing happen and arrested Dyer, saying that the police department had been trying to catch him for months. The officer gives Meri his card and asks her to stop by the station the next day to file a report. Eventually, Meri would fall in love with Colten, stamping out any glimmer of hope she had left that Sirius was still alive. However, Sirius was very much alive and still in the Keywork, journeying deeper and deeper into it, and getting the attention of many of the entities that populate it...
Finding out what this song's about is crazy. "Let's get crazy, I'll make my pass The drink turns over, the glass smashed And with a kindness and my smarts I replaced your pleasure With a friend at the bottom"
Claudio stated it was written from the perspective of a rapist at a bar in Broadway style. influence by a creepy guy at a restaurant that he played out singing this like a Broadway musical.
Patrick Rhoades Claudio going on one of tipsy daydreams, always laughed when he sat there during the interview and laughs and says “I wasn’t THAT drunk.”
I seriously want there to be a music video of this T_T!!! It would be so damn perfect for an attempted date rape to explode into a musical number like Claudio intended!!! Seriously, this is like my second or third favorite song of all time!!
Yes. It's basically told from the perspective of a date-rapist eyeing the main character's "widowed" wife in a bar. In the story, the rapist gets close enough to put something in her drink but a police officer (her future love interest) stops her before it's too late.
Also, "turn me over, roll me round" is an obvious reference to Cowboy Song's chorus, "Roll me over and turn me around". This song drips with TL tribute.
This is absolutely my favorite Coheed song. From the bass tone to the drums, to the jauntiness of the melody. It’s a near perfect song.
@bigqueef7352 imma be fan of them and I wanna go to there concert someday !
When I first got the album, this wasn't one of the songs I dwelled on. But years later, this is for sure the strongest track on Ascension.
Atone SB I loved it since album dropped
this track is unbelievable
@1:17 as a drummer, I love a good dropout ❤ what a banger of a song.
I like how artists and record companies seek to remove videos of their tracks from TH-cam, but Coheed uploads an entire album. Favorite band ever!
Doesn't coheed own their record company.
@@lordofbits1533yes
very rare to see bands post their albums on TH-cam . This is a cool thing to do Coheed, now new fans can get a glimpse of how good you are!
Bass tone is perfect. Drums sound huge. Great recording
I've been a fan since they started I've never hated any of the albums and I really like this one especially the song "the hard sell"
Their whole album is on here and still bought it. Good band!
Never disappointed listening to Coheed, great shit guys
Man, I've missed this.
I love it, it's like a combination of Faint of Hearts and The Suffering

I cant see your comments on domino, afterman and mothers of men.
Oh my god, you are absolutely right. I've been trying to figure out why the style of that main riff sounds so... familiar.
LOVE this song. and Love how creepy it really is.
I'm a sucker for catchy songs.
Found oneeeeee
Their sound definitely evolved with Year of the Black Rainbow, but this one is like a return to the Good Apollo era. I like it!
man, since the first time i heard this sounds like thin lizzy... great
Oh yes I concur..got my Phil lynott groove going
quite possibly my favourite song of Coheed's :D
Me: setting up windows 98 and listening to metal. My last 2 brain cells: lul listen to coheed.
This song should have been a single!
2:10 🎤 i know Ewe will 🔥🔥🎶🎶
this song reminds me of the verse in ten speed and faint of hearts.
100% of the music ive bought in the last 4-5 years i heard on youtube first, I'd say they are smart.
Jackpot!
Finding out what this song's about is crazy.
"Let's get crazy, I'll make my pass
The drink turns over, the glass smashed
And with a kindness and my smarts I replaced your pleasure
With a friend at the bottom"
One of the best songs Coheed have done in a long while. Amazing on posting the whole album to youtube!
underrated coheed
That riff at 2:09 to me screams Brian May
+Erik Skidmore I actually felt this song had a really Thin Lizzy type of vibe. Even that riff sounds like the dual guitar thing that band did.
Yessss !!! Thin lizzy !!
Definitely getting Thin Lizzy vibes, love it
Thin Lizzy RIFFS FER SUUUUURE!
👍
Not even ten seconds into it I knew I liked it x3
wa wa we wow
This song makes me wanna dance 🤘
I have a 1988 300zx ... it's nickname is the "Fairlady" Z.... LOL I LOVE THIS SONG. makes me think of my car :p
I got the CD today. For whatever reason, my CD player skipped this track and went straight into KEE II: Holly Wood the Cracked
Aww man I hope your CD player is working now
So either this song or Holly Wood The Cracked needs a music video next O_O
My friend sang this for the galant show... :3
PeachDonut talent lol
PeachDonut lol dang it's my old account
Did that really just happen
do you have wallmarts in iceland?
I just thought out the "glass smashed", "friend at the bottom" part O.o

Sumerian Records posts pretty much all of their music on TH-cam. So does Prophecy Productions.
This is basically a thin lizzy song lol LOVE IT!
You think so? Because I didn’t think the chorus sounded anything like the cowboy song.. like, at all.
Yes, but it pertains to the actual written story behind The Afterman.
This is the fucking bomb! So great.
Yeah, I'm still reluctant and I won't buy it until i'm perfectly sure that's the case :D
I love the thin Izzy sound.
Its very Thin Lizzy sounding.
I seriously want there to be a music video of this T_T!!! It would be so damn perfect for an attempted date rape to explode into a musical number like Claudio intended!!! Seriously, this is like my second or third favorite song of all time!!
OMGitsDSypl sang this in a school talent show without realizing what it was about 😁
Yeah I just watched “inside ...” and it is kinda.
Never thought one of my all time favorite songs would be about attempted date rape, but.......he we are.
thats rough, buddy. but, look on the bright side. once the ps4 comes out, you wont have to worry about that playstation network thing.
Reminds me of thin lizzy
this particular "friend" being rohypnol.
I would buy it through ether amazon or Itunes if those fuckers would only sell it to me here in iceland.
Thin Lizzy
Could be a new Sonic game track :D
Yea i thought so too :-)
Such a great song.....
It's about date rape, by the way.
*attempted date rape
ROOFIES
* sheepish *
isn't this song about date rape?
Yes. It's basically told from the perspective of a date-rapist eyeing the main character's "widowed" wife in a bar. In the story, the rapist gets close enough to put something in her drink but a police officer (her future love interest) stops her before it's too late.
Everyone citing Thin Lizzy because the tail end of the riff doubles in thirds. Thin Lizzy didn't come up with that
The lyrics and way they're harmonized is like something Lynott would have written too
Also, "turn me over, roll me round" is an obvious reference to Cowboy Song's chorus, "Roll me over and turn me around". This song drips with TL tribute.
