    Thanks for your comment, as for every tent a 2 man tent is really a one man tent once you put all your kit in. My advice would be a 3 man tent for 2 people. The groundsheet isnt really a issue for me, I have took this tent out in sub zero temps and it wasnt a issue. :)

    I’m liking this tent more and more. Great video. Thanks for sharing.

    This tent is much improved since the video. In 2020, it is slightly larger for tall people, has a door both sides, self supporting vent that can be closed, better poles, and its bag is also improved.

    I have a 2013 Banshee 300 for any "guest" expecting more than a tarp! You're right about the extra internal vent but it should be high up so there isn't a draught down the neck when sleeping. The door is intensely frustrating - why it doesn't open from the top smacks of design by someone who's never slept in a tent! It'd be great to have the flap open half down (from the top) to see the view and vent but keep draughts out low down, but that's not possible with a bottom opener. Enjoy.

    I would love this tent for I use the Banshee 300 for two and one person and I absolutely love it... Even for one person the 300 is perfect and quite a low profile.. Having the zipped vent and access at the head makes great way to reach your stored food stuff.. equipment that you can stash in that space outside at the rear / head between the inner and outer tent... I have used it for over 20 nights in Wicklow and with about 7 wet nights it has never let any water in... I love the side entrances so much I doubt I would ever use front entrance tents again...

    I used this tent way back when, when I did DofE (a complete waste of time fyi.. no-one gives a shit about it for uni applications/jobs) and it was okay...
    Pros- Stood up really well to the elements, felt solid, relatively easy to pitch with a really cool side-door design, long-lasting, nice net windows
    Cons- HUGE amounts of condensation form inside even with the vents open if you sleep 2 or more people (in the various models of this design), thin groundsheet, no g-sheet for luggage compartment.

    Nice video Sir!
    I've many nights with my 200... spacious and bombproof for 1, cosy for 2! Mine has a single door - 2 would be luxury ;). Cook under the flap. (Roll back the groundsheet a bit.) My only issue is the internal height... I'm 6'1" and brush the inner if/when dressing etc. in an enclosed tent - never done this with 2 inside! For warm nights, leaving the outer pegged open, or long days and horizontal evenings :) it is great, if a little on the heavy side.
    Just a note on putting it up; first time - inner first and leave attached. After that, do peg out the base before inserting poles - your tent won't blow away and the fabric will be much more manageable. (Also easier to use a groundcloth underneath.)
    I reproof my tents (all 7) every year - including groundsheets, never had a leak with either Banshee

    yes good point the vent should be higher,I think if the tent wasnt the shape it was then a top opening would work better, but maybe thats just me.

  • @subscriber1a
    @subscriber1a 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    They are not extra peg holes, you use the outer holes for poles on a multiday camp as if it rains the material will stretch. That is when you move the poles to the tighter position to taughten it up again.

    Excellent video, very helpful and answered a lot of questions. Just a couple more if you don't mind. I'm 6'1". Is there plenty of legroom? And how do you think it would fair in strong winds etc up at the north of Scotland? Cheers,

      @MrFermanaghman  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      CountryHouseGent well I am 6'2" and it suits me fine as I said it's really a one man tent. High wind no problem. Also I have camped in it with my Labrador and there wasn't an issue.

    Would the 300 take up a lot more space in a backpack? I'm going solo camping soon and would like the 300 for extra room. I was also wondering, is the 200 stronger than the 300?
    Thanks.

    at 6' 2" did you find it cramped at all or is it long enough? (same height as me), i have a highlander blackthorn which is similar design and it's way too short you see - so have been thinking of getting one of these but don't want to if it's a tight squeeze really. appreciate any advice in advance

    Hi Tom. Am actually thinking of buying one of these this weekend. Would you get two people in without any kit? We have a wee cheapo tent we bring with us to put our Bergens in.

    • @MrFermanaghman
      @MrFermanaghman  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you would get both of you in, would just be a pain if one of you wants up to the loo. The 300 as doors either side if you need out.

    Hi, I am thinking of taking my boys (ages 8 and 11) camping for the first time this summer.. Although this tent, as a small tent, I guess it would fit two small boys? I am wondering whether to buy 2 of them; one for them and one for me..

    • @MrFermanaghman
      @MrFermanaghman  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want to be able to take them on more trips in later years then I would personally go for the 300, and then get a 200 for yourself.

      Also the weight of a tent is of less an issue when they will be two sharing. Distribute the different items in 2 backpacks rather than keeping the whole tent in one bag. :)) Also makes it more flexible when packing (especially when keeping soft and hard parts separate)
