Yes, I've found that all tents are a compromise of size, weight, durability and price (and some, colour) it's a personal choice for each of us - what suits one person won't suit another and as we all know there is no perfect tent for every place or season. It's the annoying niggles like you mention though that make these reviews so important as they aren't obvious and unless you know someone with a tent you're interested in it's a minefield choosing one 👍
Very accurate and well presented reply, however I've got a problem with tent manufacturers. There is no excuse for not making the perfect tent, in various sizes, length, and height. Most people want decent ventilation which opens & closes, want a decent H.head, ability to sit up, and a vestibule to make a brew, its not rocket science...It seems to me that tent makers think the average camper is 5ft 8 - 5ft 10, solo campers don't eat or drink hot stuff, and sleep in their boots.
Thank you for posting this proper review. When I first started watching review vids, several of them were taking stuff out of the box/bag it came in and giving it a ‘review’. It took me a little while to realise those types of ‘reviews’ were worthless. That’s why I appreciate your video. You’ve actually had the tent for 3 years and used it a lot in adverse conditions. This video is really useful. It has encouraged me to plump for the 3 man tent and I’m confident these tents are up to the job. Thanks again. I’m subscribing after watching this!!

Thanks for the information,I've just pitched mine for the first time in my garden. It's a little bit claustrophobic compared to my old trusty dome tent but that only had a rating of 800mm and was rather heavy at 4kg.So all in all this should be a massive improvement for the west highland way in September. Cheers
this is the first tent I bought when I first wildcamped 3 years ago. I have the the 300 which is now my winter tent. I tend to use a stick and extra paracord and extra tent peg to raise the the door when cooking which I have done a few times and to look out . which is ideal in. a woodland. After all these years of looking after both of the tents are great tents. great honest review of this great tent. thank dude.
I've had vango tents for years, never had one break on me. As long as you treat them well the are great, never had one leak on me and they have always been easy to put and take down. Just got one of these and a vango trail lite 320 sleeping bag, got them for 50 and moved a sofa. Tent brand new(never opened) and sleeping bag maybe used 2 or 3 times. Looking forward to a light weight tent always had bigger ones
Great video. I've just sub'd. I love my Banshee 200. As you said in the video, great in all weather, small enough to put in a rucksack and not to heavy. And easy to pitch. This was my first proper wild camping tent. It replaced my old Lichfield apache dome tent with was also small but was inner pitch first which isn't ideal in bad weather. I got my Banshee second hand and it has been brilliant. I have looked for a tent for two people but at around the price of the Banshee there really isn't much choice with the same spec. For two people in probably looking at the Wild country Helm 3 compact at around £200. I also have a Nevis 200 but very similar in size.
Thanks for the sun, much appreciated. I have an OEX 3 person tent for when I go out with the Mrs.. it wasn’t cheap but it’s a bit of luxury and it splits into 2 for carrying and is outer pitch first. So it ticks a lot of boxes.
Awesome review! Vango quality! As a 6ft2 athletic guy, in my opinion the Vango Mirage Pro 200 is a far superior tent for backpacking. Semi-geodesic strength, much more space just a tiny bit heavier but just skip a week or 2 of deserts lol.
I go all along with it, its a great 1 man tent. I vought a 2. Time. First 1 lastet about 3 years. It kept me dry in many rough cobditions. I was just 1 week ago 6 days in Wacken wih it. It has 1 vig disatvantage you dident put out, the doors have no mash.
I bought one during lockdown in October 2020 I haven't used it yet but might buy 2 side porches or make something out of a parachute. I live near the Brecon Beacons in South Wales i can see the mountains from my house it's a real gutter.
Yeah, I feel your pain. The side porches seem a decent addition, I’ve never seen them for real but I’ve looked at the Amazon buy button a fair few times. 😁
@@CampLifeBushcraft Wait a minute i am still looking at the buy button lol, i wish i had a sewing machine i'd make them out of a parachute love your channel m8
Looks like a good piece of kit Dan. I couldn't use it though as I'm 6'5" and it would be too short for me. Being tallish has disadvantages, tents among them. I need big and that means heavy usually, not fun. Cool video, thanks.
I was given one for as a present 3years ago I've still got mine you are right it is a one prison tent it's to small for a 2 prison you and your family take care.
Had the original banshee one man which I loved and echo most of your comments on this video. Went to a 300 for that much more space and hated it , just didn't work for me. Both are long gone now , sold the original for £10 more then I paid for it new lol 💕
Great review. When i got my tent is was a toss up between this tent and the wild country helm compact 2, i went for the helm cause of the sit up space. Both great tents tho. Cheers
Great tent I had the older model, going to buy the new one again, I also have the banshee 300, I must admit seeing your mucky boots going inside the tent hurt 😂
I'm blessed with a Banshee 300 (For 2), which is darker green. Spent many nights in her.... I wanted a Banshee 200 (For 1) but luckily bought a retail return Olpro Voyager 2 which is an excellent alternative.. Olpro also have the Pioneer 2 but the fly goes on after the inner is pitched...
yeah I'm not a huge fan of inner first tents, I have been using the cloud up 2 recently and that is inner first but you can pitch the outer first with a little more faff. I like that option for rainy days
Don't have the Vango Banshee. But do have the Vango tempest 2000. Camped on Newgale Beach South Wales in storm Francis which was horrendous. By the morning no exaggeration 80% of the other tents on the site were flattened (many abandoned) Vango Tempest stood strong and Vango get my recommendation 100%.
yes, I have more roomier tents shall we say, but if the weather looks like its going to be awful I reach for the Vango every time. I just trust it. can't say fairer than that.
Great review. The only unfortunate thing for anyone wanting one of these at the mo is that they seem to have become impossible to find. A friend has been trying to buy one for about 3 months now and there's been no stock anywhere. He also looked at the Vango Cairngorm which you can still get at a couple of places but only at a very inflated price. Not sure what's going on - I wonder if it's production issues (maybe Covid related) or if this model has been discontinued now.
That looks like a great tent actually. I wish I had seen your review before spending money on my Hille-Akto. Your Vango Banshee 200 looks like a proper 4-season tent with the strong poles and the stout chords. I do like the double-sided style as well. I have a Vango Soul 200 but that's much more of a summer tent and goes up inner-first so not great in bad weather. Can you pitch it with the footprint attached? As always MrCLB - a pro-quality video. :) W
When I got it I loved the 2 doors. great in the summer for air flow and having a great view, the tent I'd had prior was the Gelert solo, which is basically a coffin.. so the banshee seemed huge, but since then I've tried many tents/shelters and that has shrunk the banshee down comparatively speaking. I don't believe you can pitch with footprint. Thanks Warren. Dan
I have the Vango soul 200, I'm thinking of upgrading to a Banshee 200 for wildcamping in the highest parts of Dartmoor next year, I camped at black tor just down from the highest point in my Vango soul and it was good in the wind and rain, but the poles are crap and have broke and I've had to buy replacement ones
@@stevenvitali7404 one of my Vango Soul 200 pole sections began to fail and I’ve added some resin glue and taped it up. I only use it for protected camps since buying my Hilleberg. Take care, cheers, Warren
Excellent review. Not enough head room. Heavy and bulky but an excellent entry level tent for the money. I’ve got the 200 and 300 and they are just like my Akto bullet proof but no room to sit up properly. Soulo is excellent but heavy and pricey. Planning on walking the ridgeway when we are allowed out of our boxes again and I think I’m gonna try the lanshan 2 pro because let’s face it you can never have too many tents 😋. Atb.
Thanks mate, you are quite right.. every time I get a new tent I tell myself it’s my last and I don’t need anymore! 😂😂 I made a video on the Lanshan 2 that I’ve not put out yet.. again it’s good but has problems, notably I find it flimsy. The Tangram by one Tigris is similar but in my opinion a better made and more stable tent. (Yes I have both... don’t ask🙄)
Would I be right in saying this is aimed at more of an adventure type better suited for more harsh weather than say something like the Vango Scafell? The Scafell seems higher, more roomy etc. but would guess it doesn't hold up as well in more extreme weather?
This summer I’ve been using a nature hike cloud up 2. More room and lighter in weight but not quite as stable. The cloud peak seems decent but I’ve not used one.

A lot of tent for the price, I'm sure there are plenty others that address the niggles, but how much more would you pay, thats the thing, for what it sells for its one hell of a tent, am waiting on a sale so I can grab one.
If they added extra height, the panels would be larger and the cheap poles would struggle to survive any decent wind-load. So it's a tradeoff - safety vs liveability.

The Akto has the same issue when lying down of face flapping and I have no chance of sitting up. I wouldn't swap tents, but I'd recommend the Banshee to anyone asking.
Yeah, its a tough little thing, I have other tents, another 1 man that is taller and very spacious, but in the wind it feels like it could blow away. as you say, pros and cons, the little banshee is great in the wind due in part to its shape I suppose.
