Saw them at the 1980 Texxas Jam at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, TX. After an incredibly hot and miserable day, the sun set, the breeze picked up, and The Eagles took the stage and performed at their best. It was the perfect night cap.
@@RobGamesOn Love me some Joe. Went to a Tom Petty 40th anniversary tour concert here in Tampa in May '17. Joe was a guest performer. Fantastic show. Sadly, Tom Petty left us in Oct '17. Guess I got lucky.
I saw them live at the Budokan in Japan during their Long Run tour...First, they played The Long Run album, then their greatest hits, and finished the show with the best of Joe Walsh...
This is so fantastic. So happy you are reacting to this. The Eagles were one of the best bands ever. But, their harmonies were second to none. This used to be their warm up backstage before a gig. Never hit an album until down the road. I have listened to this a million times and each time, I am blown away. Especially when I'm in the car and actually think I can sing 5 part harmony :)
The only album it was ever featured on outside of their greatest hits compilations was from Eagles Live from 1980. That's where this performance is from.
L Blue Heron They used to call it the Circle of Fear, or something like that. They used to circle up and warm up vocally to this song. They called it the Circle of Fear, because there was nowhere to hide anything within the group. The Eagles always had a massively high standard of performance and borderline unrealistic expectations of themselves. If they passed the Circle of Fear test before a gig, they knew it was going to be a good night.
