MY NEXT VOCAL HARMONY LESSON IS UP! Another Eagles song, Take It Easy! A little longer, as it's a lot more complex than this, but still fun! Check it out! :D th-cam.com/video/cWnzG9YN92U/w-d-xo.html
@@coletumey8077 agreed - @Kevin Todd please release this newer version - i get that you have an original cover (~6 years ago), but you you clearly worked hard on this one ... seems silly not to share. P.S. 5:48 - surprised you liked Home Free's cover, as they kinda fail your tip 4 imo. They're too 'perfect' (likely thanks in part to an over-abundance of auto-tune), and it sounds kinda alien because of it. Is that why you didn't share this 2nd cover?
Singing Seven Bridges Road in 5 part harmony has been a bucket list thing for me. I emailed my daughter and 3 cousins and we did it for our 4th of July family reunion. We learned the parts using your video in New York City, Minneapolis, Kansas City and France! We ran through it once when we got together and it worked. Thank you!!!
Wow. What an ear you have. To break down something I have been listening to my whole life over and over again, and to see its components was amazing - I had no idea how different the pattern was for each voice. You're a genius dude!
You are correct in saying five different singers would usually produce a more exciting sound, but I have to say in this case if you had done all the voices on the record, it would still have been a hit! You did an amazing job on these harmonies!!! Thanks for sharing your talent. Message from: Lea Jane Berinati (Lea Jane Singers), vocal arranger and background singer for Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, Charlie Daniels, and many others in recording studios for 45 years. You are incredible!! You must have perfect pitch...
I have to admit, that you've got one hell of a range there, Bro... I followed you from the bottom (Don Felder) through Mid-Bottom (Joe Walsh) and the main (Glenn Frey), but I couldn't get there with Don Henley's part, much less with Timothy B. Schmidt's part... and I can't tell you why... no, no Baby, I can't tell you why... One of my kids came running in: "Dad! Are you okay?" Apparently, turning 68 means that you're effectively on your death bed. I've heard most versions, but the Eagles' version is the definitive version... thanks for tute...
I grew up knowing and loving this song. My dad improvised a bass part probably before I was born and any time it's on in my house there's actually 6-part harmony 😅
@grantmills4184 Thank you 😊 for the breakdown. It really helped me understand where I would fit it. Thought I was Glen Frey. Nope to high. Did much better with Joe Walsh. ✌🏻💖🎶
@@lvlinda6 You're welcome! Did this for myself to learn the parts, and glad to help others too. And those high notes are real tough to hit accurately too!
Thanks so much Kyle! 😃 absolutely I will be making it a series! My next one should be up in a couple weeks! (Im verrry slow at making these 😅) lemme know if you cover this one!
@@KevinToddMusic You know I’ve talked about it with my roommate but we’re both very vocally limited karaoke bros, so don’t hold your breath haha. Still, appreciate the time and effort put in and I *have* practiced a few of these parts. Take your time and keep doing good work.
I think that too... I've seen another blurb from somebody else breaking down the harmonies on some of the Crosby, Stills, Nash and Occasionally Young hits... Harmony is counterintuitive... hmmm.... maybe some hotdog politician could use the concept and join us all together... ah, never mind...
Beautiful!!! It's a joy to listen to your harmonics!!! You are the most inspiring tutor!!! Really nice of you to do what you're doing. You have my very best regard and wishes. Do carry on.

Thanks a lot Kevin, it helps me putting the notes on the right place in a musescore-file, so we, 5 guys, will be able to sing this wonderful song. Great job!

Great breakdown! If you can find it, on the original "Hell Freezes Over" DVD they had a surround sound mix of "Seven Bridges Road" where each singer is in one of the 5 speakers. Which is where you can hear in the bridge, it's Henley and Schmidt together doing a faux double tracking. EDIT - Forgot to say which DVD..... Silly me.
This is amazing! I've just discovered your channel looking for this exact content! Great work, the song sounds amazing. I've been trying out and recording some harmonies lately and this definitely helped me not only for this song, but for recording harmonies in general. I'll give your other videos a look!
Very well done. Would have loved to have heard the entire recording. I would love to do the same recording but would never be able to sing the highest two vocals. Very nicely done.
Thank you so much John! I would love to hear your version when you do it! :D (also, I WISH i could put the full version up, but knowing the Eagles, it’d probably be taken down asap 😅).
Thanks so much for that vocal breakdown. Wow I had no idea. Check out the band Mother Earth's cover of Seven Bridges Road from 1971. I think it is a link to the later Iain Matthews cover with the harmonies. Thanks again, really enjoyed.
Great work, Kevin! I really enjoyed this. Just for fun, I like to do Don Felder's part one octave done (I can get to a low A on most days with very little fry). In terms of musicality, it sounds better in the normal octave, though, because the harmonies are tighter.
I also never realized that Felder could even sing worth a darn.. I always thought he was just lip synching.. This is the same guy that spent an entire day in the Studio trying to record the Lead Voice for Hotel California, and sucked so bad, Don Henley went in and recorded it himself...
@@frandanco6289 the story asfrom Felder in the History of the Eagles is that the song was Victim of Love, another tune for which Felder wrote the 'bed tracks'. For the record, he himself admits that Henley is a better singer; but you can check out plenty of video and audio evidence that Don Felder is a decent singer.
TheWayneReport - If you want to take a music class, you will be better able to pick out the notes for the harmonies..
