I started playing this mod pack awhile back after they started and I gata say, I feel their pain. The fact that they have managed to survive till now without trintium vests or a skymarshal is pretty amazing.
@@nicholasgoff3917 I Got lucky and had a ufo land within range of my mudranger within the first few months. Lost all but 2 guys but managed to get early game alien alloys which really helped me out. If you dont get that the game is almost impossibly hard, especially later one when you find out how far behind in research you really are.
I feel like they just need to take a steam to just go through everything and just optimize everything, change standard loadouts, balance out the aircraft, and just examine the ufopedia.
To be fair, the point of sights on a gun is to shoot as close to your eyes as possible, so you should be shooting where you're looking. There's a small margin, if any, where you can see but you can't shoot.
@@heldk7357 It is, but the barrel is still slightly below the sights. You might have an angle in your sights that close to a rock, but that doesn't mean you'll be able to fire above the rock. Super weird, but it's possible.
1:10:57 Horus Lupercal gets power armour when purging heretics/chaos cultists. Leman Russ gets to literally be a dog. (Note: in the WH40K lore Horus Lupercal eventually becomes literally the worst person ever by betraying all of the humans and becoming a chaos cultist. Leman Russ's troopers are viking/wolf themed. Both Horus and Russ are the badassest of super-soldiers who lead thousands of already badass supersoldiers, each of whom could probably solo the entire XCOM campaign)
Whatever happened to Ian_Torsion? Did he finally give in and couldn't handle any more bullying by Lewis/Ben/Lanka? E: Ugh, still haven't researched "The purpose of F5 and F9 keys". E1: Maybe Meridian should put obligatory 5-20 civilians on every missions so that they consider not skipping and be more careful, ooh.
The F5 and F9 thing is even worse because they were told about it, but Ben dismissed it off hand as being the same thing as the temp save/load buttons without even investigating it. Since it also works for craft loadout, and with how frequently they blow up their own equipment, it would make Lewis' job a lot easier replacing it all when he can just load a preset and see what's missing. Also Lewis really needs to learn he can right click on an item in the purchase screen to hide it so he doesn't have to sort through dozens of obsolete guns.
Poor Ian was so under appreciated. Even if some of his advice was a bit sketchy, he was basically the only thing keeping Lewis on track with half of the chains
It's ratehr cool that this mod is more or less the first 3 games in one - plus monsters, zombies, Ninja cults, humans-mutating-into-fishpeople and ex-USSR Terrorists. Oh and EXALT that just want to earn ALL the money on ALL the ayylmao tech.
Not gonna lie, I quite like the jungle maps. You have to get a lucky terrain for it to be good, though. I had an epic action movie sequence while doing that very shrine mission. I had my guys holed up in a copse of trees. They would step out, fire their HKs (yes, I was doing this mission rather early), and step back in. I had dudes with PSGs firing one shot one kills every single turn. It was epic. The only thing that fucked me over was their naked flying wizard lady. Neither the HKs nor the PSGs could hurt her at all. We had to fall back to the helicopter and abandon the mission. I do sometimes wish that Lewis and Ben would slow down a bit and appreciate the missions for what they are. Play a bit more cerebrally, rather than run around and wonder why they keep getting shot. This XCom mod makes for a frighteningly good strategy combat simulator if you just slow down and think for a bit (and allow for a bit more theater of the mind). They developed the artillery strategy because it's such an open and free game. You are only limited by your own imagination once you apply the tools they give you in whatever way you want. Playing on Superhuman, they get swamped with enemies, so they tend to opt for the more explosion heavy strategy, since that kills more dudes per attack (and makes for more "entertaining" streams). But honestly, I like running the XCom Files like a refined military operation, and the game has the means to do that, too.
57:50 Ben saying he didnt like Homeworld because he likes battles to be about thinking, not fast APM. .....The exact thing that Homeworld's gameplay is built on, countering your enemies fleet composition with a better fleet composition, not spam clicking abilities at high APM... I'm wondering if ben ever actually played Homeworld. Its like saying you dont like Europa Universalis because you dont like fast paced RTS games xD
Wtf there's fucking hollow earth in this mod too?? HOW MUCH IS THERE? xD This mod must have taken, literally, since the release of X-COM until now 2019, to create all that content. It's a bit janky and wierd, but gotta be honest it's incredible the amount of pure stuff in it. My god i wouldnt be surprised if the endgame has a whole seperate Moon / Mars globe as well, jesus christ.
