An interesting idea: Bro Mario who uses a menagerie of the various suits: shell to dash, hammers as standard and projectiles, boomerang for side b, fireball for air attacks? Buzzy shell as down b for impervious defense maneuvers, and cloud/star mario for up b.
Final Smash? Something with the cape: Super Mario! Just dash and bust up fools with Mario’s famous star powerup+ wing cap for a decoration!

Baby Mario: him and baby Luigi both grab a huge hammer and attacks everyone in there vicinity
Fire mario:
He makes a giant fireball and throws it and it bounces across the stage
It gets smaller every bounce and can it anyone multiple times
Ice mario: same thing as fire except ice ball does less damage but freezes them and Mario could attack or push them until they're unfrozen
Kart mario:
Gets a question mark block
Gets a special 8
The stuff is hovering around him and by using the attack button it will use something in front of him
Blooper does what it does in Mario kart
Bob-omb just gets thrown as a bomb
Green shell is normal shell
Red shell is normal shell but will turn around to follow someone until it hits them and breaks
Banan peel is normal banan peel
Coin makes you gold for 5 seconds
Mushroom makes you bigger for 5 seconds
Superstar makes you invincible for 5 seconds
Frog mario:
Hefloods the whole stage so the stage is underwater
But he is faster and stuff
Also he has high knockback for the 10 seconds it's fludded
Penguin mario:
Everything turns into ice for 10 seconds
He has higher knockback and does not slide
Tunuki mario:
All platforms except simisolids disappear for 10 seconds
He can fly
And has higher knockback
Boulder mario:
Sorta likemice climbers smash
He becomes a giant boulder and rolls around the stage for 10 seconds
However he can change direction but can still fall and can't take damage
Frozen mario:
Everyone immediately gets frozen in place for 10
Even over gaps
Mario can't push them but can attack
Propeller mario:
Whoever is hit in the smash will e.g. in a cutscene
Mario will fly up and corkscrew down onto them
He will corkscrew them so hard that in ten cutscene they go into the ground and take major damage but no knockback bc they're stuck in the ground after the cutscene
Shell mario:
Whoever is caught in the attack will go to cutscene
Shell Mario will shell spin at them so fast that hes legit on fire in and 4 other koopa shells will fly at them at high speed
This doesn't have much damage but very very high knockback
Rabbid Mario:
Cutscene smash
Rabbid Mario rabbid peach rabbid Luigi and rabbid yoshi will all use there main guns at shoot at him with strong power
Gun mario:
Rabbid Mario cutscene but with Mario Luigi peach and yoshi
Bee mario:
A ton of bees attack everyone for 20 seconds (beehive item)
Cloud mario:
Wind at 50% power will cover the whole stage for 20 seconds
It will go in a random direction
Flight mario:
Idk honestly
Probably something similar to rosalinas smash
Boo mario:
Again no idea
I might use something with boohemeth or something
Party mario:
He rolls a perfect double sixes an d everyone takes 20 damage and high knockback immediatly
Metal mario:
He turns gold for 10 seconds and does 2 times normal atk damage
He's also not slower
Spring mario:
Anyone caught in the cutscene will get spring jumped on multiple times
Cat mario:
Cat bowser appears and attacks everyone
He is dodgable
Squarely mario:
Bowsers ship with the giant hand attacks everyone
Dodgable
Boomerang mario:
He makes a huge boomerang and throws it
Pretty much fire Mario but boomerang instead of fireball

Cutscene attack
Him wario 64 Luigi 64 and yoshi 64 all grab a star and get stronger and do a powerful punch n enemy

All the variety of Mario and different forms can be smash material you just have to put thought into what they can do in their moves sets I honestly feel like with enough thought you could make a move set for all of them

OBJECTION! The deflect of cape Mario is not the only thing beside flying! The cape spin can do lots of damage! He can run up walls with enough speed and would make a great evasive fighter
Baby Mario moveset:
Neutral B- drive kart can be picked up afterwards
Side B- throws hat can reflect projectiles
Up B- Glider from Mario Kart 8
Down B- Cries works like jigglypuff rest if done right deals great damage if done wrong you die
FINAL SMASH- Him and all the other babies get in the karts and run players over resulting in a KO
Alts- the other babies Baby Luigi Baby Peach Baby Daisy Baby Rosalina

All of the characters on the roster were turned into Mario clones. All except one. If you notice, Wario is still unaffected. He is the only one to escape. Only Wario survived the Mario infection. He now wanders the land, picking up dropped coins, and looking for Waluigi. Only Wario lives to tell this story.
These all have potential, you can expand them. I would see hotel Mario as a joke character.

I think it'd be really cool if they had a character called something like Baby Mario and Powerups, and he could be a quick lightweight character with lots of different attacks based on all the powerups.
i think this would work better if all the variants were replacing moves, so making ice on water with ice mario could be his down b instead of an entire moveset.
