    I have lived in Sault Ste Marie my whole life. We are surrounded by some beautiful landscape up here. I just posted a video on my channel where I do that Soo Locks Boat Tour that you showed in the beginning of your video. It took me to a lot of the lighthouses around this area.

      can we see the back alleys downtown? is this place safe to raise a family?

    • @TheTravelLifeMama
      @TheTravelLifeMama 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@tempusfugit9009 there are some pros and cons to raising a family here. If you are into the outdoors and outdoor activities this is a great place to live. But if you are looking for amenities and things to entertain your kids, apart from the outdoors, there is not much to offer. Especially for teenagers, really the only thing for them to do around here is hang out at the mall. We are 3rd worst in Ontario for opioid fatalities this year. The drug problem is bad here and has infiltrated the high schools. If you live on the outskirts and like to participate in outdoor activities like swimming, fishing hunting and skiing it's great here. Otherwise probably not the best place to raise a family

    Yes, its quite nice when you aren't seeing the drug addicted, odd balls, and poverty-stricken roaming the streets. Also, most of the streets there need a serious make over; and the west end is not nearly as nice with that steel plant right there, spitting graphite all over the place. The geese are great for sure, it makes up for the terrible lack of financial organization and budgeting on the city's part, aswell as overwhelming corruption. Not to mention, its the 3rd most dangerous place (regarding crime rate) in Ontario, and it ranks pretty darn high in all of Canada aswell. I could go on, but I think it's safe to assume that with all this said; these are just some of the reasons cost of living there is lower than in most of Ontario. Definitely not the worst place to live, but I wouldn't say it's the best place to raise a family.
    All in all, this is a very nice picture you've painted here, thanks for this.

    • @lvfreeAdventures
      @lvfreeAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      From what we saw - it is nice clean and quiet city, with nice waterfront and parks. We were surprised to be honest... expected to see mini-thunder-bay - but nothing bad to say. What you've described - applies to every town in Canada unfortunately, except may be few in Rocky Mountains....

    • @thefringeminority2019
      @thefringeminority2019 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@lvfreeAdventures I disagree, and as I mentioned - there are worse places - but Sault ste marie. Is amongst the worst places in Ontario, hands down. Its worse than Oshawa, worse than Hamilton, worse than Thunder Bay. I encourage you to check stats, and never drive through there at night time. Everything in my 1st post is 100% accurate. Again, thanks for painting such a beautiful picture.
