Hi Doug, You and other Aussie gardeners have inspired me to start my own channel ( Introducing my fruit tree obsession) would love some tips as I make more clips.
That's awesome Gabs, the only reason I do any of these videos is to inspire people to grow their own food. I am no videographer? but can say that I personally like to watch people that are just themselves and not trying to put on a show for the camera. Whether that gets more people to watch, I am not sure. I will watch your videos to see your progress, good luck!
Thanks for the video. I started growing Jaboticaba trees a few years ago, so mine haven't fruited yet. I have Grimal, Sabara, Yellow, Vexator Blue, Scarlet, Red Hybrid, and Pingo de Mel. I can't wait till they start fruiting.
Hi Doug, your gimal looks fantastic. What are the ratios for the potting mix you use and would you use it for plants like dragon fruit and avocados as well?
Hey Patrick I use the same mix for all my potted fruit trees including dragon fruit. It is 25% ph balanced peat(mikissar brand) 10% pure peat, 15% cococoir, 20% coarse sand, 20% perlite, 5% pumice and 5% charcoal. This works for me and lasts way longer than off the shelf potting mix. There is no fertiliser/minerals so I put some on the top and let it filter down. I also put homemade compost on as well. It works out about double the cost initially but saves money over time as it is a more permanent soil.
@@dougs_urbanfarm here in Kerala ,India although tropical climate Sabara, red hybrid, escarlet are fruiting well.. but yellow jaboticaba, grimal etc are flowering well...but no fruits
Watching on here
Those Grimals look amazing!

Great video, great fruit harvest, thanks for sharing!
Really wish I could buy this fruit at my supermarket, looks delicious.
They are delicious Johnny but only last about 48 hours in the fridge. That's why you never see them for sale.
Hopefully one day I will get to taste one, looks like a wonderful fruit!
Hi
Beautiful mate!! Just showed the other half cos she's getting impatient with the jabos lol
Haha Paul, they make up for the wait!
just ate my first one ever this morning :} Very worth growing
Yes Nathan definitely worth growing 40 or so!😉
Damn . That some serious bragging right you got there.
Haha Eric I try to brag to my wife but she just laughs at me!
Hi do u know how long it take for costada to fruit?
My costada fruited at 4 years old.
Hardy means?... I am from India and I have griml but it produces only very few once in a while. 2 or 3
When is say hardy, I mean the tree is tough and produces fruit without me taking care of it. I'm not sure why your tree is only producing a few fruit
