Hello everyone, this time I made 4 turquoise/black resin geode coasters. I hope you enjoy watching me make these geode coasters. I will include the palylist for the people that didn't watch my other geode coasters. th-cam.com/play/PLWqX7R3JwkuMyLPALwMjBsPvlZE3hXHUG.html
Can you please also add the details of which color was in alcohil ink which was paste and which was powdered miccas as its also important for us to create the effect.....please add that detail in the description ot will help us beginners alot❤thank you
Pleaseeee do help as i m a beginner and would be bery helpful if you mention which kind of pigment was used in black the turquoise and then the opague one thank you in advance
I always add at the end of the video a page in which I mention every color I use. So there you can find it. In the description box you can find the website links.
Petra, I know this is an old video, but you have an amazing talent. I’m so impressed with how you create such beautiful effects on both the front and the back of the coasters
Thank you so much Gina for your nice compliment. I appreciate it a lot. I'm very happy with the end result of these coasters and for sure I will be making more.
Oh wow! My first time seeing resin coasters made this way (puddle pour with alcohol inks?) where each side is so different from the other, yet equally beautiful. Just stunning!
Thank you so much for your nice compliment Janet ❤ I appreciate it a lot. 😀 Yes, I'm using alcohol ink and pigment paste. I hope you will enjoy my other video's also.
@@petrajongbloed4425 Yes, pigment paste too-- seems to be an important ingredient to get this effect. I have yet to try this technique, or any resin work for that matter. I have pretty much everything I need, except pigment paste. I do have a few powdered pigments. I'm wondering if I could make pigment paste with that by maybe mixing it with some part 1 of the resin, alcohol, glycerin, or propylene glycol. I also have artist grade acrylic paint, some acrylic craft paint, calligraphy ink, pearly mica powders, different colors of alcohol ink including white, inkjet printer ink, airbrush paint, watercolor paint, chalk, artist pastels, liquid coloring for mixing into melted embossing powder, fabric dyes, nail polish/laquer, and gel food coloring. I have powdered Kool Aid drink mix and some flavors of powdered Jello mix which might be fun to try. So it's not like I'm lacking coloring supplies to play with. Haha! I think a lot of resin work involves plain old experimenting and I just need to cast my fears aside and jump in and do it. I should probably start with making a cabochon with some plain clear 2-part resin and add something simple like gold leafing flakes or a dried pressed flower. I'm so glad I found you Petra. You are one of the few resin artists I've seen on TH-cam who seem to really know what they are doing, understands the chemistry, is a talented artist, and skilled educator. I love listening to you-- reminds me of a dear Finnish friend of mine. Thank you so much for making these videos! ~Janet (from Ohio, USA)
OH WOW! I love that effect on the back side of them! How awesome! I have tried and tried to get that effect but haven't achieved that yet! BEAUTIFUL Petra!!
I love both sides and thank you for the work in creating these tutorials they are very clear and I like how you explain how you get the effects and how you create them.
I love watching your videos! You do a fantastic job at thoroughly explaining how and why everything works as it does. I love these coasters, they are beautiful!
Fantastic colors. You create the most beautiful resin pieces. Your tutorials are so enjoyable to watch and very informative. I love how they are easy to follow. Can not wait to try! Thank you for sharing. Keep creating and stayvwell! ❤❤❤👍👍
Thank you so much Brandy for your nice compliment. I appreciate it a lot. Yes, I don't have any secrets. I make these tutorials to share how I make my art and to inspire you all.
These are beautiful! love the black border-makes the blues "pop" Personally, I like the front side best, but the back side is pretty as well. Dont often see coasters that are slightly different on each side with both being equally pretty!.
Thank you so much Debbie for your nice compliment. I appreciate it a lot. Yes, I wanted to make both sides pretty so that they can be used on both sides.
Thank you for showing us how you make these coasters and for explaining everything you do. I just made a set and I’m hoping they come out as good as yours do. I didn’t have any mica paste so I just used mica powder and alcohol ink.
Thank you so much for watching my video Lori Ann. I appreciate it a lot. Great that you also made a set. I'm sure they are very beautiful. I also didn't use mica paste, I used mica powder.
These are beautiful and I can't choose a favorite side because I love them both. I didn't understand what the white material was that you poured into the center.
Ich finde beide Seiten interessant, aber mir persönlich gefällt die Vorderseite besser, die Blautöne sind wundervoll. Ich nutze genau wie du eine Nagelfeile für die Ränder. L. G.
Another set of gorgeous coasters! I couldn't get the coaster molds from your dispenser bc od the covid virus. I did get some from lolivefe, so I should be able to try some soon when my pigments come in! My alcohol inks came in too!
Thank you so much for your nice compliment rsd.teacher. I appreciate it a lot. That's strange that you couldn't buy the mold, because they ship worldwide. Have you send them a message?
Just beautiful! I got in touch with Evelyn Schaefer and she has no clue about the molds. She told me she doesn't sell molds in her shop. Can you advise Petra on why I can't order in the U.S. from Evelyn. Thanks.
Thank you so much Bonita for your nice compliment. No Evelyn doesn't sell the molds, but Molds and Shapes sell the molds. Evelyn sells my natural mica pigments. I will add the the link, but you can also find it in the description box of the video. facebook.com/moldsandshapes/

Hi Julie, thank you so much for your nice compliment. I appreciate it a lot. I use a heatgun to remove airbubbles. But also in the resin I'm using are not a lot of airbubbles.
Thank you so much Angelsandfaes for your nice compliment. I appreciate it a lot. I use my heatgun on the lowest setting and I use it several times when I pour in silicone molds. Sometimes I'm also using an embossing tool. That also works and doesn't get that hot like an heatgun or torch.
Love these. The cake stand and these coasters would make a lovely gift. Thank you for sharing your technique. Do you recommend hot drinks on these coasters?
Thank you so much Aparajita for your nice compliment. I appreciate it a lot. Yes, they would for sure make a nice gift for someone. After a month of drying I tested it with hot drinks and I had no problem with sticking or dents.
I've tried this but my white tend to just end up a blob by the corner. Is it because I have put too much white? Or not enough mica powders to push the white through?
Yes, that can be the problem that you added to much white pigment in your resin. White is a very heavy pigment and you don't need a lot of it in your resin to color it. It can also be that your resin is to thin. If your resin is to thin then it will sink to the bottom very fast. You can wait for some time to let your resin thicken a little bit. To push the white to the outside you need to pour the next color from up high. ❤😀
No, it doesn't leave scratches on the edges of the coasters. In one of my upcoming video's I will show which file I'm using. Thank you so much for your nice compliment. I aprpeciate it a lot. Yes, you should deffinitely try this. It's so much fun.
