  • My machine is not turned off, but it could be ? Yep after spending thousands of dolours on this machine, I was told it can be disabled and made useless. Let all the locksmith know what problems I face as a Locksmith with my new Silca toy - the Silca Futura. If you want this machine make an offer. Im so not happy with the investment - as my opinion. Im not holding back telling what makes me want to take a hammer to my new $20,000 key machine - I so wish I could pull out the hammer and adjust it !!!

I really appreciate you sharing this information. I am a locksmith in the US and I have been working with a Foley Belsaw Model 200 for the last 2 years since I started my business. I know bare bones but it works. Things are going great and I'm looking to invest in a modern machine and there is a huge demand for Automotive keys in my area. I'm trying to do research on a great system (Lishi, cutter, cloner. programmer and base Auto key inventory) with appx. $25K budget. $12K of that was planned for this machine, accessories, and software but if there is even a possibility Silca is not standing behind their product (even with your unique situation) they just lost my business. I'm going to keep looking. I need to find a workhorse that can kind of do it all. I will be the only locksmith that does modern auto for 75 miles in any direction. I need a solid proven machine. I'm going to keep looking. Thanks. Hopefully, they make it right.

I have the Futura Auto. I really hate having to constantly switch clamps and cutters to go from edge keys to laser cut. I also feel like it's very slow. After a recent update, it suddenly takes 8 minutes to cut a single Honda HO01 or HO03 key. It also seems unnecessarily loud. Progression doesn't seem possible with some keys, though it is supposed to be. If I try to do progression cuts on a B111/B106 (problem not limited to just those blanks), it will detect the key at the #1 cut position, and if that spot has been cut to anything other than a 1, it will proceed to ruin the key when it starts cutting. Also, if it gets an error, you have to start the entire cut process over again. At that point, if the #1 spot is anything other than a 1, it is over for that key. It doesn't make sense to me. It could easily detect the edge of the key a couple mm behind the #1 cut, there's plenty key there to do that, it just doesn't. There's supposed to be a way to use Instacode with it, it was certainly one of the selling points, but I haven't figured it out yet. It is also not reliable at decoding keys. Freshly calibrated with a new key which it just cut, and there's a good chance it decodes it wrong. With a worn key, it will be wrong 100% of the time. In the rare event I actually have to decode a key, I usually just resort to using a caliper. I rebuild lock sets, so I usually know the cuts or have the code anyway, but when you pay almost $7000 for something (includes financing), you expect it to work properly. It does the job, and in the year I've owned it it's paid for itself 3 times over, but I'm really not happy with it.

I bought a Ninja from Lollies and Locks in 2012 from Mark. Its still going strong, moved it from my xh ford ute, to New Hiace, to New Hilux, to Sprinter 4x4 dual cab, and its still going, done all the rough Queensland roads, including the birdsville track twice. Ninja has not let me down. The only con has been the visor is puss, but now i just dont run a visor on it.

The newer futura cut keys averaged 10 seconds so your machine is very good. Next year 2020 futura will probably improve engraving to be faster and machine may do also medeco keys. Its the best machine on the market.

The machine good. It does have its moments. Boot time is slow. If it doesn't load swipe from left to right on the tablet and you will see options to search. The machine will not connect if your in an area that has a multiple wifi networks available so that is when you need to search on the tablet.

    Ninja is pretty okay.
Pros: Fast, can use touchscreen to search for car key cuts.
Cons: Crashes frequently, extremely long boot time, does not allow you to automatically offset the cuts as the blade wears down (have to manually offset each key), best I can tell it does not allow you to make custom cut cards.

I agree with you silca ilco and Advanced Diagnostics are all owned by the same company and their business model is flawed they are under the belief that they need to be paid off of each one of our jobs as a professional locksmith I'm glad to see other locksmith have noticed the same tactics from the MVP Pro to the new hybrid tablet that Vance Diagnostics is came out with and now it seems the silica Futura I was looking at buying an MVP Pro from England that was dirt cheap I called ilco which is owned by Advanced Diagnostics and they told me it was regionally locked in just like the Futura I'm also seriously looking at this Shark 2 I watch the videos on it and looks like awesome machine I'm waiting to see it at one of the shows so I can check it out a little closer thanks for the great video Steve from Steve's locksmith

I have spent so much money on Ilco - Silca - AD and its going to be a long time till I see my money back, they think its all big $$$ when we get out their and make car keys , but the truth is their products are expensive and people are dropping the price for the service and its at the point of not viable to own.. Today I was told about a locksmith making keys for a Holden Astra 2004 for $150. How are we meant to pay off a code machine - MVP - key stock and make money as profit to live from @ $150. That job will cost me $66 for a token , $4k MVP to pay off, $20k futura , $40k van , $2-3k Instacode to pay off.... the list goes on before you make money ... don't forget the cost of the keys $30... whats left after tax ? $80 if you have paid all your tools off. ... and it will take 20 min drive to the job , 20 -40 min do the job and 20 min drive home ..
I get the feeling the guy who drives the bus past my place every day is making more clear money then me ? & he gets super and holidays paid. I know many locksmith that have given up and done a standard job like driving a truck, more money less hassle. the big company's see us locksmiths as cash cows and squeeze us for every cent. Even when you buy a product now its all about the ongoing return, most of the time its for very little . Next they will charge us for their support and help forum .. I get the feeling ....

Either the edge cut side or the high security side dosen't effing work. I've sent it in to be repaired but it never works as advertised. I was considering this machine but now not so much. I do a lot of laser keys in my business here in Canada. I have used a Keyline 994 for four years now without missing a beat. The only part I had to replace was the tracer with which I caused my own problem by not cleaning the residual dirt off the keys before cutting. I hear that the Ninja Laser is a great machine also. I went to an ILCO seminar show and had a demo of the Futura shown me . It was noisy and the key tip stop that slides in the jaw was only 2/3 as big as it needed to be . It was like it was a poor attempt without attention to detail .I also think the Advanced Diagnostics new programmer that you continually need to buy pricy tokens to keep running will find sales much more difficult with the introduction of new programmers that do more and cost a fraction to operate.

@@benjaminmercy1071 The 994 can cut everything the Futura does if you have purchased the jaws required. It is fundamentally a laser cutter, the Ninja laser is a comparable machine as is the new Gymanka . They both

I have one of these and I have to agree with all of your points. I have the 1st generation Futura, not the Pro. The tablet is even worse than your pro. Very slow and constantly freezes. Silca are very unresponsive to any issues you have. I had a problem with a particular key series and Silca pretty much told me I must be doing something wrong, it cant be the machine. The main issue I have is the number of passes required to cut certain keys. Some keys are taking seven passes. It's ridiculous.

Hi Locky, Im happy to see Im not the only one, I wanted to do a simple desk lock the other day , Huwil side track key for a desk, and no card, and no way to get it do to it, I even bought for codemaker to make cards, but dose not do side track keys, I think they need to release some updates for free, and get the machine working better, I would use my phone over the tablet , but the app is imposable to use on the phone, it will load , but no phone template for phone only tablets, maybe some smart person can fix the app for us ?? Maybe its time to see if the app can be hacked and allow us to fix the bugs,, If we all put in $1, I think it could be done, Every user puts in $1 , and it will be cheaper then an update.. Fix some issues like speed, Tablet , adding cards, Talking to instacode, sms pending job "how cool would it be to get a sms on you phone and load a key and push cut. Let say Im in the office and I want to send you a code to cut, we should be able to just sms the info, you use your phone and push cut on the machine.. Maybe the world is too advanced for the machine ? Old limited technology to maximise returns is how I see it

I do tend to use a laptop to access my machine now. Just use the laptops wifi connection and navigate to the Futuras ip address from your browser. It's a lot more reliable than the tablet. Actually it reminds me, when you are having the connection issues in this video, I think (going from memory as my machines not in front of me) on the 'loading screen' you can drag a hidden panel from left to right. Swipe left to right across the screen and you will have a 'reload' option. This allowed me to re-establish the connection to my machine a few times. I do find the Silca app difficult to use. I often find my self decoding keys on Instacode and manually entering everything into Futura because I simply can't find the key series in the Silca app. I keep meaning to set the machine up to use Instacode rather than the Silca app. I think it will help a lot.

I would suggest maybe the "Key Line Ninja" or HPC Shark 2" or even the Multicode " all of the machines do the same job, but Its best you talk with the suppliers and see if they give you good support, updates, and on going cost..
To be honest we have not used the Ninja or Multicode, but have used the older HPC shark, I found HPC to be reliable, and other locksmiths say the Ninja is better.

Im sorry but i purchased the silca futura pro (limited edition) which works great! From my lsc supplier who really looked after me and updates it for me every month. It also came with all the adaptors and engraving jaws and cutters. I do agree with you that the software is no match to instacode. However by shopping with lsc mine came with 10 years of free software updates! And ive found its as simple as using instacode if you cant find a card or code and tranfesring the info manually into the futura. However a quick call to my rep and they look up the card straight away for me if its not in the system. The way yours takes so long to load is not right. However mine loads up in less then 2minutes from when i turn it on. And the tablet has never died once on me. I appreciate your videos and honesty but i think this machiene is awesome! It does pretty much everything i need it to. Cutting a track, dimple or tibbe key has never been more time saving for me! I wouldnt reccomend this machiene as an everyday duplicator. But to anyone starting up i would highly reccomed this machiene (and a silca duplictor, i have th 008 flash which i love!) And getting in touch with a supplier you can trust who will make sure you are happy with the product and are looked after! Maybe next time you should test it out before you buy. Ecspecially from the states.

Hello Ulladulla, thanks for your comment you have some good points, I guess I was expecting a lot from the machine, My Unocode is 25+ years old and it has never let me down, The truth is I should of checked it out before I buy. The Silca Futura and the Keyline ninja are a bit like foot ball teams, Alot of people say the Ninja is the the way to go and other say the Futura is the way to go.. I will put another point the board for the Futura.. The reason I did not go with my local supplier is that $20k is alot of money, I got mine to my door for about 1/2 that. My Silca Unicode has never needed an update in 25 years, So I was expecting the Futura to do the same, The only reason you need updates is because Instadcode will not talk to the machine, it has its own instadcode , but you cant send DSD to the new machine.. Thanks for your comment, I know alot of locksmith will disagree with me , but its good to get reviews from other users good and bad, At least people who are looking to buy can read the reviews make up their own mind ... P.S the 008 Flash looks like a good machine, I have not had the chance to use one yet, the only complaint is that they should of made a 12v version of the machine, not all vans have 240v, other than that it looks like a good little machine

Im yet to recover my investment from the MVP , but the lonsdor has paid for its self, same with the T300, SBB , and CK100 , my point is when you are on a job and in trouble pull out the AD MVP ... Thank you for putting yourself out there and stripping away the BS surrounding these very expensive (well over priced) machines that do not stand up and do what you have paid for...very very annoying. Where did you get the white shavings catcher under the 1200 hpc blitz? Also what is the 'program that I got for 100$ that you can print your own cards'?

    • @DrLockShop
      @DrLockShop  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

The catcher was custom made by my plastic guy, I can ask him for the plans if you want, cost me $220 but I think its worth it, I try and keep the brass to a minimum so I can use my fan in the van when it's hot, and wind and brass gets into the air and makes a mess,, too many brass splinters,, Im surprises in the last 60 years HPC did not make one. As for the Futura, I like my UNOcode more and its 20 years old, The sales rep described my unocode as old technology, that might be true , but its rock solid , not like this new over priced technology.. Totally agree with you

Great videos as always, I just feel their Futura machines are way over priced glad I never got one and like you I'm a huge silca fan and have alot of old silca machines and they are brilliant and tough, I'm planning on going for the new alpha all in one key machine just finding out about updates if they are free and if not what are the costs but so far for the price it's seems like a really good machine. Anyway keep up the good work and great videos and content

I did get code maker working, and I got the same thing , no one knew much about it. I had the problem that I was putting in the spacing the same as instacode, when I had to put n the start point then the difference from the next cut , not from the shoulder, so cut to cut and it seemed to work after that

I got to use one of these and could not beleive how slow these things are. The tablet freezes constantly and won't sync, it's slow to go through the menu, it takes 10 minutes to cut a key by code. When they told me what it was worth new I couldn't believe it...who has that time to cut keys. Silca has really disappointed me, they are making keyline stuff look better and better.

Thanks for your comment, I so happy Im not the only one, In this video it would not connect because my home wifi was stronger and picked that over the wifi from the machine that it was sitting on ? , so check your wifi if it dose not connect, But 100% its so slow, I use the HPC 1200 and cut 2 keys before it even loads. Im disappointed big time. I just emailed HPC Im hoping they will do a better job on their new machine. I want one to comparer

    • @DrLockShop

Its just not right, you paid for the genuine, they should support the product, and turning it off is just not right. This is why we have people selling clones at a fraction of the price and they are selling like hot cakes. If you are not getting the support or resell option and updates, is the product worth the big $$$

I know you’re having trouble with your machine along with software from soccer I have one of the expensive Triax e code Machines that was working perfectly fine except for I was missing a few electronic files on vehicles that I couldn’t do that I should’ve had in the machine when I got to the customer site to do the work I could not do it. I contacted ILCO KEY’S CO. Which is my distributor for the soaker product here in the US. I told him my situation and they said they would send me the software to fix the machine. Once I install their software into the machine or at least attempted to try to install it. It failed and they refused to do anything to help me so they’re big expensive machine is nothing more than a large paper away I am ashamed of that company I am like you I had bought many products from soccer over the years and this is not how you treat your customers you do not leave them stranded with your equipment simply because there are software didn’t work. I even asked them if they could get a programming engineer from Soca to assist us on fixing this well they said if I was willing to send it to them to their shop and pay for the shipping both ways plus all the parts and possibly even a motherboard at the price of $3000 US currency. Well then they might fix it but of course they don’t know for sure whether that would fix the problem or what it might be so the money could go to skies the limit this is wrong and I think soccer needs to be pulled out and use as an example about this somebody needs to step to the plate and help us with these Machines that have software and things that do not work after all we bought the product because we thought it was a top-of-the-line. So I feel your pain shame shame on Soca. Just thought I’d give you my insight on my situation.
