That sanitizer needs to go in the rinse cycle ( in the fabric softener dispenser) for 16 minutes, by itself, and if put in with detergent/softener is rendered ineffective..... the instructions are on the peel back, etc. It's not doing anything the way you're using it, just a heads up.

Fun tip, when I wash my thrifted clothes I always flip them inside out and then wash them to get the inside really clean and I will spray the outside with a stain remover as well too sometimes to give it a extra boost!!!

I got a brand new pair of designer chelsea boots at the thrift store and when I got them home I found that they smelled like cigarette smoke so I tried all the hacks online and nothing worked. These boots were in pristine condition except the smell. My last step was to put coffee beans inside the boots and seal them in a plastic bag and leave them for a couple of days, I left them an entire month and it worked! yeah

There is also Tide with baking soda for odors also, but I do like the Lysol detergent to wipe down my dry cleaning items. You got some good pieces for the warm season. The rompers are adorable. Put them in zipper bags, yes they make them big enough to hold ANYTHING, add 2 or 3 spray bottle spritzes of vinegar, and zip it shut. DON'T just leave it outside. That isn't hot enough. You need to leave them in a rolled up, hot car all day. All. Day. Kills smells, insects, germs, fungus, alien life forms... You get the picture. I'm a yard sale vet, I know what I'm talking about.

This lysol laundry additive sanitizes with a 2% ammonia solution. This specific one doesnt actually make "super bugs" but your laundry soap literally forms a little pod around the bacteria and it is washed away. When cleaning purses and such you can wipe down with vinegar and let it dry in the sun. Also, for household cleaning, if you are feeling OCD, wipe the surfaces with 5% or 10% bleach water. That's what we use in academic labs to clean.
Have you tried using that RED SKIRT as a dress?? If it goes up, it may look really cute with a belt. I think it has more potential as a dress than as a skirt lol
Treating thrift shopping clothes with enzymatic washing detergent like Perisil is the key to getting them super clean too. It breaks down everything left behind in the clothing.
I soak mine in just pure cleaning vinegar for about an hour. They spray there clothes with some kind of spray that really bothers me. And after you soak just wash them in really hot water with no fabric softener. Fabric softener has chemicals that get into your skin plus the smell makes my allergies go crazy.
I'm a new subscriber, so I'm going through a lot of your videos late, haha. I love your thrift finds! I've soaked a gross t-shirt I thrifted in a bucket with hot water and dish soap, and it took the smoky/greasy smell right out of it. I normally wouldn't buy a gross smelling shirt, but it was too good to pass up!
I handwash my thrifted clothes initially, particularly scrubbing on the underarm and neckline parts, for hygienic purposes. And I separate it by colors, and then have it test if dark colors stain the lighter ones. :)
I really like these videos. You've encouraged me to be open minded about thrift stores so I stopped at the Goodwill the other day. I am between an XL and XXL so I wasn't expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised to find 3 super cute tops and I bought them for around $7-8 each. I love them! I almost never find 3 tops in one store. I used laundry soap, fab softener, baking soda and some non-chlorine bleach and I feel like they got super clean and fresh smelling. These tops are almost in new condition so I can't believe I got THREE tops for under $25. Thanks for the tips! xo
Girl, have you ever gone to garage sales? If you go in nice areas you can find really cute stuff. Today this nice subdivision had a subwide sale and I got a brand new adorable romper for $2, a brand new pair of black print pants for $1, two pairs of American eagle shorts for $2 each and a few cute never worn outfits with tags still on them for my ten month old niece. As a kid I hated garage sales and thrift shops and while I don't have the patience to thrift shop often, I have found some of my favorite outfits and dresses at garage sales
I'm emetophobic too, but have managed to take sort of the opposite tack to germs. If you never make your immune system work, it will never work. So yeah, when some stomach bug is going around I'm very careful, but for the most part good enough is good enough.
fabric softener can cause build up on clothes/towels/etc that causes them to not last as long. Its a weird thing that not a lot of people know (not at all trying to shame you for using it or anything, I'm sorry if I sound like I am) Vodka also really helps with smells. especially body odor, though I usually use that in a spray bottle either between washes or on something that can't be washed. I use undiluted for really smelly stuff and 1/1 or 2/1 vodka/water for less smelly
LYSOL LAUNDRY SANITIZER USE: For those of you in the comments looking to use this product, yes it is great, but it is designed to be used only during the rinse cycle. If your machine has a separate compartment for softener you can put it there, if not wait until the rinse cycle begins. The warning section is under the label on the back of the bottle. What about something like Oxyclean? Does Persil remove body odor such as armpit smell?
You can also throw some odoban in when washing the clothes it really helps! 😊
