Great video! Currently DMing my first campaign ever, playing through the Dragon of Icespire Peak and having a blast :) Been trying to implement a lot of these ideas when building encounters as I have a 7 person party, it's tough to keep them feeling challenged and engaged. We had an incredible combat at the lighthouse during a thunderstorm, as I moved the fight to the roof and allowed the "boss" to summon Merrow or Kua-Toa at the top of initiative and gave the lighthouse spotlight a Crown of Madness type effect. Really split the party into trying to figure out the light, keep the fish people back, and damage the storm calling cleric :D

That last tip was worth putting down in my notes. Thanks a lot, friend! "Professional DM" is interesting, lol. I suppose if you do it for a living, it's pretty fair to call yourself that.

its actually the definition of professional that you get paid, so yeah... its pretty fair :)

I'd call it my dayjob, but... I mostly run my games at night. :D It pays the bills, and fills my life with fun, game, and friends. :)

Solid tips. New follower. Love your videos thus far!! A thing 3 party supplement that really elevates my combats and my players rant and rave about is MCDM’s “Flee! Mortals” monster book!

Welcome aboard! Glad to have you here. I have poked my nose into Flee Mortals, but only nose deep. I’ll have to get more in there soon!

@@DM-Timothy The simple breakdown makes this video really easy to share with a friend of mine that is interested in DMing, and wants to learn how to be a good DM. This video is short, clear, and not intimidating in any way for a new DM.

He is. He’s a pixie bob, (purportedly part bobcat) and a total beefcake. Lol.

@@DM-Timothy your insight and advice have great value for myself and anyone just beginning to take this chance to bring DnD to the masses. I don’t know about TH-cam algorithms, but it seems general activity is good? The least I can do to repay a little of what I get out of your content.

@@agesisafk131 Activity is always good. Honestly, though, the biggest perk of people like you watching my videos and leaving comments like this is it helps recharge me to want to keep doing it!! :) I appreciate you. :)
