The vents on top of the back are for the steam heating generator equipment. The passenger cars at the time were powered by steam for heating and electricity so they would put small boilers inside passenger locomotives.

Having used the Santa Fe F7 in Train Sim World I do believe it would look like the driver is sat high, but I think it's prototypical. I'm not positive but when sat in the cab, you do look down at the side window next to the controls.

The things you're calling gangways are actually called diaphragms. And those circular things at the rear of the B unit are the steam generator vents

What camera do you use
The Santa Fe branded off the chiefs since they went throw very large areas of Indian territory. Most advertisements of the little Indian was pretty racist. But I think the chief logo looks good and I just love the style overall
