Thank you! I always struggled with mountains and I also always wanted them to look like those of Bob Ross; but since I paint with acrylics it never looked quite as good (I believe the paint's not thick enough). I'm going to try this method next!
This is a great tutorial! I just started experimenting with oil paint but was thinking about switching to acrylic because of the smelly products of oil based(turbentine etc.) and it is so hard to clean. Any advice? Should I switch?
thank you so much :-) I didnt understand about the dark side of the mountains at 3.33min about the mix of the ultramarinblue and the name of the second colour is?
What we call wet strength cartridge paper in New Zealand. It's 230gsm hard smooth paper - cheaper for students than watercolor paper. Watercolour paper would work just fine, maybe better.
Yes, you could use the rag on canvas. The texture of the canvas would give you a different effect. The texture could be altered by several coats of gesso, sanded smooth. I used paper for this tutorial because that's what my students would be using.
Easy way and great techniques to pain mountain 👍

Wow acrylic really does suck for painting mountains. Before I saw this, I thought I was just a bad painter.
Same! I was wondering why all my paintings suck, then I realized I was just using the wrong paint 😂
Blame the acrylic

I loved your painting! Love Bob Ross tech but I don't have a well ventilated area for oil so to see that in a acrylic was really helpful.ty👍😃

Slow drying acrylic paints are worth trying -- my students use the American brand Golden Open Acrylic.

Spooky2 Rife yt
Only if it is real turpentine ofcourse!
I don't have proper ventilation so I use solvent free gel and paint with water mixable oils. I wash my brushes with soap and water.
Super ,danke schon!!!👌👍🌏🇰🇿
If you have talent you can use oil or acrylics. Practice makes perfect. God job on the painting.
Nice!
I will use cardboard and rags from now on brilliant 😅

Burnt Umber and Ultramarine Blue is a good mix

For the trees he used ultramarine blue, yellow oxide and a bit of black and burnt umber.
Hi there I can't quite catch what kind of paper you use, can you please let me know..cheers from New Zealand.
Heavy weight cartridge paper 230gsm. Any paper thick enough to paint on would be okay.
@@evanjonesart4424 Thank you so much.

There is no difference between a photograph and your painting.
