      It isn't grey, it's a bluish purplish color. Your brain just knows what things are supposed to look like, so it bends your perception. Depending on the light situation plants aren't green, but your brain knows thei're supposed to be green, so your brain makes them green, but if you take a picture and take a single pixle from the plant it will show it's actual color, the rest is context. Color is nothing more than reflection of light, the light is what dictates how you percieve something.

      I think he (or she) uses oil paint. I have recently returned to painting after a good 20-year break and I used to paint in oil and had to give up for health reason. I am learning to paint with acrylic paint and it's nothing like oil paint. So much time is wasted on keeping the acrylic paint wet!
      More than happy to be proven wrong.

    • @sanhasenteredthechat7901
      @sanhasenteredthechat7901 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LosoIAm the title is acrylic paints, the channel is dedicated to acrylic techniques so you are wrong

    • @LosoIAm
      @LosoIAm 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sanhasenteredthechat7901 OK; so, I am wrong. Would you mind sharing how to keep the acrylic paints workable for much longer than it is (I have used the Atellier)? The brand name of the paint and/or medium would be appreciated.
      I have found water-mixable oil to be really good!

    • @sanhasenteredthechat7901
      @sanhasenteredthechat7901 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LosoIAm I want to apologise if my previous comment sounded rude, yes the paint is not oil but who’s to say you can’t apply the same technique with oil? Even water-mixable oil. I’ve seen this channel use ‘Monte Mart’ acrylic paint, but in all honesty you can use whatever. Personally, I love the GOLDEN brand for paints, they have slow drying paints, fluid acrylic paints, matte paints, and heavy body paints (viscosity is very thick).
      Again for the mediums I reccomend GOLDEN, they do a retarder (which slows down acrylic paint, making it more workable) and they sell another medium, a wetting agent which increases the flow - but please read the instructions on how to use it since it may not bind to the surface without being diluted. Besides these mediums I wouldn’t introduce too many.
      The magic ingredient is not the brand of the paint, it’s the brand of the palette! No matter what brand of paint you buy, you must invest in the sta-wet palette by mastersons. Especially if you are a former oil painter, because this will bring that aspect of slow drying time from oil over to acrylic. This specific palette prevents your acrylics from drying out so it’s a real game changer, it has a special sponge that you need to buy for it and will keep the acrylic paint workable and mixable for months…here’s a useful video on it from my favourite acrylic artist, Carla grace th-cam.com/video/qWU87qgAF3U/w-d-xo.html
