Congrats!
LMAO the casual marriage drop is sending me. Congrats Chris!
hahah
Oh, literal fish tank review this time 😂
true
This video popped up as soon as i said i want to watch fish content
You’re 7 minutes late
No cap?
Fr
😂 big brother
super convenient!
Definitely the perfect shrimp tank 🤩
for real
I was gonna ask this question glad I scrolled through the comments
CONGRATULATIONS and may you be blessed with many years together
TYTY
That is a wonderful little setup, while being humane to the critters.
I had something similar when I worked away from home for 2 week stretches. An old costco sized pork rind tub, a mini sponge filter, betta tank heater, bunch of java moss, and fern, some frogbit, and a pothos vine hinging down the outside. Held 2.5 gallons, and I could lower the level by half and put it on the passenger seat of my car, and run the air on a usb pump whil I drove to work, and return drove 2 weeks later. I kept a mystery snail and 2 or 3 endler fry in there. Once the fry got bigger, they would go to the main tank at home, and I'd drop some fresh babies in the tub. Super helpful for stress relief and meditation at your desk. A plus idea
shrimp and endler tank allways hit the right spot
yes
Nice video. Love seeing a non sponsored respectful try with products that are popular. You made such a great point. I feel nano fish get so overlooked and people immediate default to betta.
ty so much!
People at this point think of bettas as a nano fish even tho theire not xd
That keyboard though! Nice keycaps Chris! Tank looks good too, and congratulations on the whole marriage bit 🎉
ty!
This is an amazing idea! I'd just be paranoid about having so much water next to my computer 😂
Lifting the computer up on to a small desktop riser, or laptop arm stand could help mitigate some of that risk.
this one is definitely safe, for now at least!
@@FishForThought It's the accidental drip drop spills during water changes that can get yah. Towel surround / mini berm to prevent desktop surface flow ftw.
Perfect size for my favorite rasbora, Boraras Micros. They’re about 1/3 to 1/2 the size of a Chili Rasbora. I have kept a school of 8-10 in a 2 gallon, and you still have to search for them because they’re so tiny. So tiny, in fact, they’re one of the smallest of all fish in the hobby. You can usually get them from Wetspot, which is where I source mine.
love this vid, teeny tiny fish are probably my faves - cant wait to have space to keep fish again !!
congrats on the wedding again my dude ❤❤
yaaa!!! ty!!
I have literally set up the same tank on my desk next to my TV...are you watching me, Chirs? I went with Galaxy Rasbora and shrimp!
haha xD
Perfect Grow-Out Tank for an Arowana and a few small Oscars.
I have a Fluval flex 9 gallon that I keep endlers and guppies in at my desk. Its one of my favorite tanks that I own.
so good
Congratulations Chris 🤗
Cute tank 😍😍😍
tyty
Something about the intro is very nostalgic. Great tank! (Way better than mine lol)
hehe :)
Congratulations! And blessings to your beautiful bride! Oh- and I did like the review that you gave this aquarium. It helps for when I'm standing in my LFS staring at all of the options. Also, I appreciate SO MUCH your guidance on what to expect for different plants.🐟🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿
ty! glad to help :)
5/5 keep up the good work 👍🏼
tyty!
I really love the Fluval complete aquariums. I've got a 33gl Flex. I love the hidden filter compartment. The standard light that comes with it is good but it also has the option of being able to add another light if you want.
My tank is currently housing a betta sorority of four, a handful of geriatric male guppies, three khuli loaches and if they are still alive since I've only ever seen one since I added them, three amano shrimp. Plenty of space for more fish and is absolute bursting with moss, red lotus and anubias.
so good
I have a rather large desk so I put in a 5 gallon tank, black gravel/background and some green plastic plants. My betta, Artemis, is very happy except for the hair algae. Weekly water changes and once a day light feeding weren't doing the trick (the tank is cycled and has been running for a year now....the water params....0 ammonia/nitrite and 10 ppm of nitrate)so I gave in and started turning off or way down the light. That did the trick. I know...live plants would work! I've been in the hobby for 30 years but I didn't want to go that route.
Be careful with plastic plants! They can tear Artemis’s fins. If you really don’t want to go with live plants, try silk! It’s much softer and won’t hurt their fins
awesome!
My mind be like while watching :
I need it!
yessss
i have been watching for 4 years, just through diffrent accounts, and every single video has been better than the last every time
aw tysm that means a lot!!
Endlers shouldn’t really be kept alone - this tank can probably hold a second male, or perhaps it’s an ideal birthing/grow out tank for fry!
just waiting to snatch up a few more smol bachelors
I get a lot of females in my breeding tank haha
I modelled my 30 L tank tank (more height than width) after this and will be adding a betta fish next week, thank you Chris!
Give that endler a pal to pose and show off to. He doesn't have anyone to flex on. And they love to do their flex dancing.
true
just shrimp for now
Your voice is so calming lol!
Fluval is probably my favorite tank. The light was so good I got to culture some hair algae, which I made into very delicious snacks for my fish
yeah!!!
I just recently lost my saltwater fish and corals to hurricane beryl so now I’m going to give a shot to having a planted tank! Mainly because of all of your videos!!
I have a pico saltwater currently in this tank. 4 blue legged hermit crabs, GSP, a yellowtail damselfish, a turbo snail, and a nessarius snail
I’m going bankrupt
For real.... I don't have enought space for ano.... there is always space for another aquarium!
ahyahaha aren't we all
Beautiful nano set up!
tyty!~
It looks like fluval actually rebranded the fish tank on their website as a shrimp tank instead of betta. Good job on fixing your mistake fluval. 👍
I'm glad you made the Beta tank Better, looks awesome. Great home for little guys, have you considered another for some pigmy corys ?
Congrates on the wedding
i also had a desktop aquarium but it was 30x30x30 cm and had a betta but i moved it near a window after a few months because i could not be bothered buying a timer for the lights.
nice!
I have one of these for my desk and it just has two pea puffers and some shrimp (I though they would kill them, but they just chill like dat and havent.)
Nice one Chris! 👌
I love desk tanks, I have three. A ten gallon, 5.5 gallon and I have a 3.5 gallon bowl that I was going to put a pea puffer in there to feed baby snails too but I have found since that they are social so now I am thinking about getting 5 to put in my 10 gallon. Still not sure I really wanted a little variety to look at but, I am going to be setting up a planted 30 gallon in my living room here soon which I also spend a lot of time in so >_> we'll see. I think the endler is such a good idea though.
Loved it but could have some(you guessed it)corydoras✅
Dwarf Corrie's
@@danielthompson3205 Too small. They need a group of at least 5 and that's more than this tiny tank can sustain.
That is a sweet little tank. I would love to get one for shrimp.
yeah!
Whoo! Fluvial product, I will endorse this over most others.. using and not failing for decade... Canister is nearly older then my kid...
An welcome back home from your relaxing time off after such a hectic time in your life -.- ..
I kid, congrats again mate
It looks like a nice shrimp tank or maybe a snail tank
There is a big canister in which a pomegranate tree was planted. My uncle recentyle gave away the tree because the canister was too small for it. Now I am planning to use that canister to make a mini pond with stinging catfish (wild fish in my a local river) as the stocking.
Now chris knows how i feel with a tank with dahnie, scaped and doing well...
And another with shrimp and plants on each side of my computer corner desk...
And yes... Its not directly above my computer tower...
best videos to calm down and smile 10 / 10
I love when chris does these types of videos
glad to hear it!
Made a Betta tank two weeks ago. Loving it!
You should have capped the substrate with sand, then you don't need a filter..
...why would capping the substrate make a filter obsolete? oO Sure, aquasoil does degrade over time, but that's not what the filter is really there for? Don't mean to dunk on you, I've just never heard that take and would be interested to hear the reasoning behind it. I used to have tanks with innate substrate only since my snakeheads didn't tolerate any plants, always ran a filter though.
Yooo congrats on marriage! Best wishes
Congratulations bro. Cool! Nailed it. 🎉
Thanks for this vid I have been asking about a new tank for a long time
Hey, I've been a big fan of your channel since covid and I'm finally ready to set up my own fish tank. I was thinking about fallowing everything in this video but I heard that the water would need some beneficial bacteria. Is their any good brand for that which I should purchase for my first tank? Also are their any other steps I should do before stocking the tank? Thanks so much!
i keep coming back to this video and i seriously am debating on getting it. i really want to do the aqua-scaping(if thats the right word) you did with the live plants
ive never done anything like that before but would be really interested to, and would love to hear any pointers or fish recommendations to get for this tank. also any tips for substrate? ive only ever used the stereotypical aquarium gravel growing up but like i said before would love to try to get more advanced on a small tank like this
YAY SHRIMP AND ENDLER = PERFECT SETUP
YAA
I won't keep a Betta in anything less than a 20l (5.2 gal). And if I'm adding shrimp or other fish, up that to a 30l (8gal).
That tank would be sweet for some shrimp and snails though
Chris could you do a video bout your recommended plants and fish for a 5 gallon one day?
I see tiny tanks & I immediately think: shrimp!
I've got a 3.8 gallon low tank for my betta & he loves it as he's very frilly & likes to lay on his green carpet in front of the filter, but sleeps in the one corner with no agitation.
I bought a couple of water-bubble & sand toys for him to watch & he loves my diffuser (I don't use the diffuser part as I don't want any oils to affect the water of my 3 tanks) lights so I put that on from time to time for him. I also scape & rescape his tank from time to time to keep things fresh.
Beta need at least 5 gallons😐
Yep, hate to be that guy, but if you have a 3.8 gallon tank with a filter/heater/plants, then that's already less because that takes up space in your tank. Remember, bettas grow up in rice paddies which are vast and wide - betta needs more of space to swim. You need minimum 5, ideally more but just fyi.
I have 3 massive screens on my desktop...so I can't can't. But I have desks next to my work desk with tanks on them.
I would say thats a perfect size for a betta, fight me all u want but bettas do not need a 5 gallon.
Honestly this is an amazing tank to have to grow a couple scuds and shrimp and snails you can raise live food I'm actually thinking about picking one up just to put shrimp and scuds in I think they're really cool match and of course snails and plants. But then I can feed my Betta fish but you have in a 7 gallon tank
Hey Chris, congrats on the marriage, I was wondering if you had seen this video by a guy named Teo, he just started out the aquarium hobby, I thought like to watch the vlog.
I literally just got cherry shrimp today
awesome
will the filter sponge suck up shrimplets and fry?
A NOT MONDAY VODEO LETS GOOOO
beta? no, lil shrimp and minnows? yes!
6th been ur subscriber since a long time now. i have a planted tank for myself. and much love chris
Reef guy here. Why not add an auto top off? In a nano reef, something like that is almost a necessity for a tank that small because the salinity rises pretty dramatically as the water evaporates and drops rapidly when refilled. I assume the same thing would happen with freshwater dissolved minerals too right? I've only attempted freshwater once, and it went well (it was 8 gallons with some native live plants. The betta lived for 2 years and 1 month, then I tore the system down when he died), but I did have an auto top off system installed because I assumed that was recommended.
It's not really an issue in freshwater, at least not to that degree. If you never do water changes and only ever top off, over time, minerals build up and your TDS can rise, but it takes a while depending on your tap water. I never even considered auto top off for my tanks because the hassle of setting it up seems almost more work than grabbing a watering can and just adding a little if and when it feels necessary. I do have mostly black water/low ph tanks though, so it might be different for sth like a cichlid tank etc with harder water and a higher kh/gh.
This can be used as a shrimp nano tank though!
Nice review. Thanks
thx!
I will buy this tank & putting a Betta fish in it, thank you.
I recently upgraded my desktop fishtank, Aka the offish. Out of all the people at my work who has desktop fish, I still think mine is the best
I think for breeding neocaridinia shrimps or dwarf rasporas in there, keep shrimps, plants and snails its perfect. I am so pleased that you did not put a betta fish in there 🥰😘❤❤❤...
I have just setup a 300 litre tank for one of my bettas with harlequin's and neo fish, ottos and kuhlis, sherry shrimp and snails and plenty of plants as community..They all love it 🥰🥰
Just curious, is the endler going to be fine there alone?. Arent they shoaling fish?
💫premium💫
Ok bro no excuses i missed some more episodes… but we gon continue day 1 of asking for a crab only tank! Also W marriage!
✨HECK YEAH!✨🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉✨
one of my biggest bugbears with these all in one systems is the annoying use of power sockets. JUST USE 1 PLUG!!!! come on aquarium devs just make a laptop style brick that we can plug into and one plug socket used please! the fact you have to plug in three sockets/usb is trash.
Cory from aquarium co-op has spoken about this extensively. Your wish of one cord is just not how electricity or timing works. If it was all one plug how would the light go off but filter/heater stay on? The heater also draws too much power for just a USB cord.
WARNING!‼️where is spewing at the the top. It can also happen on the other side and get a bunch of water outside. Luckily it was notice soon enough and only lost about 1/4 gallon instead of all of it. I got this tank for my betta and realized in it was too small. Got him a 9 long with tons of plants and a few months later had his new mansion with some shrimp. 7 months later it’s a thriving eco system with only top ups and only 2 vacuums.
Noice! Also, you should not keep any fish below 5 gallons. Only shrimps, and snails. Possibly a nerite! (Preferably, tiger nerite)
do you suck out the algae once you've scraped it off?
how often do you need to do water changes?
is it necessary to remove the fish poop that deposits at the bottom?
my last tank (planted only+ river limpets) did not fare so well
❤
MY GUPPIES GAVE BIRTH!!!
GRATS
As someone who loves invertebrates, which kinds of invertebrates could I potentially keep in this tank aside from the neocardinia shrimp, Malaysian trumpet snails, and ramshorn snails mentioned in the video? What about crabs (and which species)?
I believe all of these are able to be kept here
I like this idea I was sounded that a company such as Fluval whatever promote such a small tank for a beta fish.
We are in agreement there .
your solution is wonderful
Grou for the algorithm 😊
skibiddy fuhlatogan chris
Man, you had me worried for a second there....Of course you're not going to put a Betta in there.
I have one of my bettas in a very small not even full bowl but I think you would actually approve in this case. She has swim bladder disorder and can't maintain her bouiancy . Water must be low so she doesn't struggle too much to the surface. Smooth marbles on the bottom so she doesn't get scraped up and she's learned to "sit" in the salvinia like a harness. Uses the curve of the bowl for support to swim around it. It would be the worst betta tank ever if it wasn't for her specific needs.
💚💚💚💚
Should use some penny wart for carpet.
tissue culture plants usually melt in low tech set-up that is why its better to get potted plants if your doing low tech condition tanks
Yoo a new aquascape yessss!
yooo
@@FishForThought yoooo train
Now I need a Desk Tank! 🤣 guess my wallet is meant to be empty 🤣
Lets gooo... another aquascape W
Loved the vid and so glad you're pushing away from that betta marketing. Nano fish don't get the love they deserve I love the galaxy rasbora and have some in my 15g with my shrimp and khuli loaches
Is it really okay to keep a singular endler? I thought 4 was the minimum.
Yesss, another vid
You got married? Congratulations! Not so good about the phone, but lovely wee tank!
Love from India ❤
