@@DaWaffleDog well I saw a video from father fish a little while back, and he pretty much says keeping a betta in anything too large and it will die! I’ve kept bettas in 30L setups and I’m currently keeping one in a very heavily planted 300L setup (it’s quite shallow like 6 1/2 inches) and when I saw that video I was honest like : uh wtf…. So I just wondered what others who’ve kept fish for a long time would think.
@@David.attenbruh I don’t see any problem at all. Maybe loneliness? Idk Otherwise yeah, think about where they live too in the wild, and yeah. Heavily planted would be even better ngl
As a loach keeper, i've long stopped questioning how Loaches get where they do. Loach mentality, no matter the type, is always going to be "If I can manage to squeeze in there, it's a loach zone."
Fishnapped the betta out of my son's preschool classroom on Friday. Told the teacher I'd bring him back after Christmas break in a proper tank. Poor little dude has fin rot living in a 1 gallon, glass pebble bottomed, unheated, un filtered, no plants, filthy bowl. He's already looking much better in his 10 gallon planted, heated, filtered betta palace. Kinda don't want to give him back. But I automated everything heat, light, added snails and I'll do maintenance each week. All she has to do is feed him, fingers crossed.
I love this idea. Lol. We are homeschooling and have a Betta in basically every room of the house but the dining room (too many windows and not insulated enough)
@THATfishguywithfish Great idea. she was going to leave him in the class and 'pop in' to feed him once a week. So that would help with underfeeding also. She's a sweet lady, just overwhelmed (20 preschoolers) and really doesn't need any thing else to worry about.
It's so funny, my whole water change schedule revolves around when Chris creates new videos. I'm sure my fish appreciate that I watch your show though!
A weird combo I have in my fresh water tank. And I think it works best for a few rare reasons, I rescued and electric blue crayfish fish that had its eyes and legs ripped off by a bunch of crazy cyclids in our local fish store. For a long time he couldnt stand up and would get so visibly frustrated. To help him move around, I’d use two long skewer sticks and essentially pick him up like they were chopsticks. And I’d make him right side up and let him work his way through the tank till he was please. He thoroughly learned to trust me and grew his legs and missing facial features back in like record time. In well under 1 year. His best buddy rn is a betta fish I’ve had for about a year. They’ve never had problems. The betta will literally sit right next to him or on him and the crayfish just lets it happen and doesn’t panic like he used to when he first went blind. I feel like they communicate as unlikely friends. When it’s food time, my crayfish goes to the center of the tank and waits for his algae cookie and my betta goes to the top center for her flakes. I never expected such peace between two way different species. I still wouldn’t recommend you mix them together because I have a unique case of a disabled (still blind) crayfish that leans on the betta for support in life. Another crayfish might be aggressive

QOTW Camping!!! Solo winter camping is the best. Here in central Wisconsin, I love going out before a snowstorm. Waking up in the aftermath is worth the hassle. Quiet......it's all about the quiet. Gorgeous betta tank, total genius substrate hack...okay, you sure you're not getting ready to drop the other (stinky, fish-abuse-y) shoe on us now? You betta not! QOTW: Ice skating, although I haven't been for waaaaay too long.

i have had a kuhli loach make it's way up into a filter. they have a very ratsnake attitude when it comes to jamming their noodle bodies whereever it will fit
Also i heard the bacteria you have might not be the same kind your neighbor has, the start up api has beneficial bacteria that might not exist in your tank. Hope that helps others understand. Sometimes starting a tank with an old tank may still lack certain things the new tank will need to be successful.
I have a gold fish that's been living for 6 years and is still alive today I also have 4 cats that live in the same house. It's tank has broke twice and I'm convinced my fish is god
My winter hobby is to go play hockey. ;) That loach in the filter seems about right for loaches. I need to go rescape my tanks in the summer... Some of these are just stunning and I'm kinda jealous!
I'm still struggling with the aquarium lighting issue. I have a nicrew (bought because Chris recommended it) and it's a good light, but I think it's too strong for my 5 gallon betta tank. I never had it on 24/7. I only had it on a couple of hours and it still grew algae like crazy. My betta recently passed away, so I'm breaking down the tank and starting over. This time I'm going to start keeping the light on for a short time to start and increase until I find that sweet spot. I have low light plants, so less light shouldn't be an issue.
My brisstleose pleco would swim up and into my hang on the back filter. She got out just fine, I guess that's where the food was. Now she's too big to fit inside my filter

that is indeed one of the best things to do
Thanks! I loved the video. Also merry Christmas 😁🎄
thanks so much for your support!
C'mon Chirs... Not one moistens my mom like you.
Love ya buddy.
These always make me feel so bad about my starting tank I just started working on 😅 someday we’ll look ~*aesthetic*~
i have had a kuhli loach make it's way up into a filter. they have a very ratsnake attitude when it comes to jamming their noodle bodies whereever it will fit
5:14 "there's only a few steps"
Step 1: become financially stable
the most important xD
Also i heard the bacteria you have might not be the same kind your neighbor has, the start up api has beneficial bacteria that might not exist in your tank. Hope that helps others understand. Sometimes starting a tank with an old tank may still lack certain things the new tank will need to be successful.
I have a gold fish that's been living for 6 years and is still alive today I also have 4 cats that live in the same house. It's tank has broke twice and I'm convinced my fish is god
lmao! they can survive anything now
Ah dude... Your words of wisdom on sleeping on it when developing MTS... Not what I wanted to hear, but what I needed to hear 😆
Lol. But what about when you sleep on it and still end up with 7 tanks inside 6 months? 🤣
@@HopeB555 🤣🤣🤣 oh no, please don't let me end up in the same situation... It's sooooo possible... 🤣🤣🤣
lmao xD it rly works (sometimes)
I was enjoying your video and got whiplash from the kerning city music
My winter hobby is to go play hockey. ;)
That loach in the filter seems about right for loaches.
I need to go rescape my tanks in the summer... Some of these are just stunning and I'm kinda jealous!
it's inspiration!
I LOVE CHRISTMAS PARTIES!! I have Covid and I missed the only two I go to because of it :(
I am so mad.
Such a cool and good sponsor choice 👍🏻
My brisstleose pleco would swim up and into my hang on the back filter. She got out just fine, I guess that's where the food was. Now she's too big to fit inside my filter
QOTW: My favourite winter activity? The same as my summer ones. My 2 volunteer jobs
