One of my mates put a Chinesium carb on his Harley to see what it was like, it's still on there 5 years later and no issues. Saved himself several hundred kebab vouchers. The only advise I would give you is to ALWAYS turn the fuel tap off, just incase a little bit spec of dirt stops the valve closing (you have an overflow so you'll notice). My ZX10B had about three litres of fuel in the sump🤣
Had the same carb delivered for £13 I didnt bother putting it on but just robbed a few bits from it Ticks over fine now but the test will be on the road Im a bit disappointed Martin A man of your experience wearing a good coat in the workshop Im on the naughty step for getting grease on mine 😅
This is going to be an interesting watch. I bought my splitscreen VW with a chinese carb on it. I have a few niggly issues, when it's cold it always cut out, but that was by dialling it in to factory specs... it didn't like it. I'm still pondering why it's setup so different and the idle is being cheated by holding open it past the idle jet by winding the idle screw right in. There might be another issue, but I won't know unless I go back to a factory solex. All the usual issues have been sniffed out such as vacuum leaks on the brass jets and the bushings the butterfly pivot bar sits in including manifold gasket tests.
@@RiotRetroGaming Chinese stuff seems a bit of a lottery sometimes. Generally speaking I don’t go near them but not much choice when original equipment is unavailable!
Hi Martin, the test for that carb will be when you ride it, they are normally good on tick over, but tend to be way off once your over quarter throttle... fingers crossed its a good one, whats wrong with the original carb? PS I'm subbed 👍
@@Motoshed the original is badly corroded unfortunately, never been right since I’ve owned it! Hopefully I can get this one dialled in. Only lost £14 if not!
@MartinRivespeed , yes can't go wrong for £14, like you said worse case, swap over the jets, the bodies are absolutely fine...if anything it's the jets which are usually off, look forward to an update 👍

I swapped my original 1986 carb for an £8,50 Chinese ebay special rather than a carb kit and it was absolutely fine....no adjustments needed 😊
I would swap the jets
