2012 is missing because that's the year the world ended. Ok, for real though, got struck by copyright, it happens (also 2008 too).
So here are the facts in text form!
    - 2008 was Usain bolt's second year running the 100m, and he ran a world record of 9.69s (duh).
    - 2012 was the year of the fastest 100m race in history, and the greatest 100m race of all time, hands down. It was the 2012 London Olympic 100m final, I advise you all watch it, as it's just one of those races that gives you goose bumps every single time.

If we are talking about fastest times then yes Yohan Blake is definitely faster but Tyson Gay has more faster times than Yohan Blake and just because you have the faster time doesn’t make you a overall better sprinter for example Florence Joyner is not the GOAT of female 100m because she has less sub 11s than Shelly Ann Fraser pryce therefore I consider Tyson Gay a better sprinter than Yohan Blake though Yohan Blake still has the faster time(note that in 200m Yohan Blake is 100% better than Tyson Gay)

@@haroldpierre1726 yes, that’s the thing. First of all, most of these guys are using tons of banned substances while training, and yes, those effects last. So, while so many folks get banned a year or so, they’re still “cheating” when back, because of the new anatomy of their bodies. But, there are certain things most were using. The biggest BS was banning Marion Jones, because that stuff he was giving her have just a very tiny bit of illegal substance in it, to the point they had to combine it all and still hardly found any trace of anything illegal with all that stuff combined. It’s a damn shame she went through all of that for such little illegal substance, while folks are actually using WAAAAAY more! I heard Bolt was using the usual stuff, but combined with Peptide Bonds. I won’t claim to know of Bolt using anything for a fact, but, I mean…those results are nowhere close to normal, and I’m still not knocking him for it, because I strongly feel the PED performance field is pretty leveled, and only the actual times are affected.

What made him special was his ability to accelerate off the block as well or better than the smaller runners and then obviously with his longer legs, his top speed was unmatched. no one pushed him so he stopped training as hard... which sucks, given we never saw a full year of bolt with actual good luck, in 08 he had unfavorable wind conditions in the 1 and 2, in 09 he had unfavorable wind conditions in the 200 and had a car accident that kept him out of training, in 2011 he had awful wind conditions in the 100 and false started, and in 2012 he had an injury that kept him out of shape... and 2012 was the year we saw him actually push himself again when he lost the olympic trials, and he got his time all the way back down to 9.63 which is crazy for someone who was that out of shape earlier in the season

I could be be wrong, but I think the person that could break Bolt’s records would have to have a similar stride length as their base. With that base they'll also need a strong but not necessarily great start followed lastly by top end speed endurance. The last part along with the fastest top end speed ever (Bolt at 27.78 followed by Gay at 27.61) is where Bolt really shined when he was in his prime. I just don't think its possible for guys under 5’10 to beat his records as while they tend to have better starts than the taller runners, their top end speeds aren't as fast as Bolts and they also don't maintain those top speeds as well as Bolt did.

Imagine today there was just one person running 9.6ish times and the rest around 9.8, nobody would then say 100m is moving backwards just because thereis one single person achieving exceptional times. Without fact checking I'm actually guessing that the 100 has befome deeper when it comes to the number of people running sub 10, its only a matter of time until one of those guys manages to break out.

@@antmolitor You are right that there are more people running under 10s now than 10 years ago, however this is a very small movement of 0.02-0.04s where many runners were just over 10s and now are 9.97-9.99. 10s is still >4% off the world record though, and >3% off what multiple people other than Bolt had done over a decade ago. Using 10s is pretty arbitrary, it would be like measuring the depth of marathons by the number of people running sub 2:06, which is almost double the number of athletes as a 10s 100m.
I am talking about the real top end, those medalling at International level. As I said multiple people excluding Bolt ran sub 9.7 over a decade ago, and nobody has got close since. Even extending to 9.8, from 2008-2012 2-3 athletes ran sub 9.8 every year, with 3 being most common. Since then the average has been less than 1, even excluding 2020.
