We hardly expected this to hit the public consciousness of the RGC sphere this hard but we do appreciate the well-intentioned discussion surrounding it. This bracket was an idea from our president and it was meant to serve as a way for more people to find new, lesser known, games to play, as well as discuss reasons why we all enjoy the games that we enjoyed. Understandably, as is often the case with social media--particularly Twitter, this is not what is happening lol. As a University affiliated and officially recognized organization, we take steps to ensure that everyone can have their voices heard and proper respect is given when it comes to that ideal; rest-assured that we do not condone any act of trash talk or toxicity when it comes to the niche games that we choose to associate with. Both are pros, both have seizure when playing other game. Both of those games are rythm games. Turns out there is "variety" inside genres.
I like both. I am stream/jump player, 18k when i stopped playing, because i basically reached my physical limit of speed and precision, but no, when i found games arcaea, they made me interested in them, althrough, it is really hard for my, as a diehard pc player with a pretty bad phone
I have a FauceTwo, I've never played arcade SDVX but I have USC on my computer and I genuinely prefer Arcaea. It just feels so three dimensional to me even though it isn't lol.
Coming from a person who played both: Arcaea and osu std both are very unique gameplay wise, however arcaea has significantly less songs than osu for obvious reasons. However, you can play arcaea on your phone where ever you go to pass time. In arcaea, I love the sky notes and arcs. It can go from ground notes to ground + sky notes to sky notes instantly. Osu std has so many skill sets that you could choose to learn out of a game that is simply just clicking circles and sliders. There's fast sliders, streams, cut streams, jumps, high density jumps, etc. Both games are great, but the poll is really just a test to see how popular both games are OR: mobile vs pc poll. Also, people should just treat arcaea as a pay to play game.

as someone who used to be a young rhythm gamer and commonly fell for this divisive crap, it's painful to read comments that people will inevitably regret writing. It feels like osu! and Arcaea have an emerging rivalry because culturally, they're quite similar. Music, rankings, and charting all have similar energy, so they attract the same types of people: competitive, enjoy repetition, additcive personalities, fast-paced. I kinda wanna rant for a sec so here goes: I started my rhythm game journey with Deemo, followed closely by Cytus 1 (which I quit shortly after). After a year of solid Deemo improvement and community activity, my friend and I commonly competed in Cytus 2. Eventually I pulled ahead and he quit. Next I took up 4key games like OverRapid and Malody, while experimenting with every possible game I could get my hands on. My main was still Deemo though. During covid I fell in with a community of Arcaea players, revolving around one person by the name of ArcApp. That was the most competitive and connected I'd ever felt in rhythm games. He died a few months later though, so grief had me quit the game for good. Meanwhile, I'd picked up osu! std and played it casually for a while. After arc died, I spent all my time improving at osu!, got hooked. It became my "main" game, replacing Deemo. I rediscovered the sense of community and fierce competition here. Here I am now, a product of just about every rhythm experience I could find. Every game is fun for different reasons. Some just happen to click more with others.
I believe Voez was in the top right, but man, I'm especially surprised to not see at least Cytus II. I was hoping for Cytus I or Deemo but those are too obscure for osu players I suppose lol.

i think the arcea paywall isnt about the fact of giving money, its about the fact, how much it costs. idk about japanese audience and their prices, but in russia it costs too much for a mobile rhythm game. yeah effort, but their profit is quite huge, so they could make you to not pay for every single thing and make game more ftp friendly.
dude i come from a third world country (vietnam) and one song only costed my breakfast. Also, i think the money they're charging is just too damn low. Buying FV pack that has intro animations, special effects and have 3 more unexpected songs (SA) make me want to even pay more
4:08 on a side note, gd doesnt actually use _stolen_ songs, officially you can only use songs from newgrounds that have been allowed for use in gd by the artist and the artist themselves is both scouted on ng and whitelisted in gd either by an elder moderator or by robtop himself unless you play levels that require nongs ("not on newgrounds" songs) which there are not many cuz you need to replace song files and it's generally harder to get those levels rated, especially if you dont have a good replacement song
I remember that one time, I was downloading CSQN for a layout that someone made, and I kept the video running since I was using a youtube to MP3 website, and it just happened to be synchronized with the song. It makes me want to do a non-newgrounds song speedrun.

Me as someone who likes osu std and Arcaea I would still say myself that I like osu! std more I just enjoy the gameplay more than the gameplay arcaea has to offer but that is my personal oppinion I wouldn't shit on people that vote Arcaea tho
Same, I started off as an Arcaea player(played for about 4 months), but then realized I have a tablet and should give osu! a try and got hooked completely after a week or two(about to hit 3rd year of playing in nov). Being able to search up literally any song I like and play it was super cool to me. Clicking circles to the beat was just super fun and addicting for some reason. I did start playing the other game modes too which I finally started taking seriously. I touch Arcaea once in a while but it only lasts like a day before I delete the game or don't touch it all for months. Ipad is broken and I don't really find it as fun to play on the phone. And the offset calibration is a bit scuffed(maybe it's just me), but I would like to give it a chance again. Especially since a lot of cool tech songs come from there.

it's basically a quality vs content fight if ur comparing the games alone leave the twitter clowns out of this Arcaea, like most mobile/arcade rhythm game, is mechanically harder to execute than Osu!Standard, while also having alot of songs and content being locked behind having to pay, but even then, the prices are so low compared to other rhythm games that use the same method, and the charts(or maps for osu players) are made by the official dev team, and not some random on the internet but Osu!standard is harder to score on compared to arcaea and the maps are community based, which give the game more diversity and content also, all songs that are in arcaea are licensed, since most of them are originals, and lots being collab songs or popular songs like PUPA, conflict, and Halcyon while osu lacks in original songs compared to arcaea, but simply has alot more songs as some random can just upload a map for a song to osu both games are good go ahead and say they are copies of other games i can say arcaea is just 3d piano tiles/sdvx/chunithm but mobile, and i can say osu is just an aim trainer, despite these claims being false, but it's not like people on the internet would understand LOL just playboth games, arcaea is the highest quality mobile rhythm game while also being the 2nd hardest(dynamix too hard 💀) and osu is easily accessible also 1 thing arcaea has over osu pog af story with many cute girls,and no, it's not a cutesy funny happy story 2 things to hate about arcaea can we delete world mode and potential?
I mean if PTT bothers someone that much they can just hide it, which if they're determined about it basically means it's deleted for them. World mode is grindy but it's pretty bog standard for games to have a mechanic to invite you to login frequently and as such it's pretty inoffensive. I guess they could make a couple more maps legacy so you can spend 1-6 stam to clear it faster.

Arcaea is paywall locked, but once you get your own money its not very expensive . I'm myself from a poor background, starting a job next week so I decided to save some money every month for arcaea and honestly, almost 1 dollar for 100 memories is still a great deal, you will end up buying a song pack in just 2-3 months evene if you save money on a monthly basis
ngl the biggest turnoff for from trying arcaea is the comunity. Sure osu has it's bad parts but all things considered it's pretty chill (which would make sense for a comunity-driven game). I get that people are passionnate about their favorite rhythm game, I am too. But I don't see why people felt the need to say frankly pretty horrendous shit to each other. Like I expected some people to disagree with me when I replied to the poll saying I voted for osu. What I didn't expect were actual death threats in my dms.

Me as someone who likes osu std and Arcaea I would still say myself that I like osu! std more I just enjoy the gameplay more than the gameplay arcaea has to offer but that is my personal oppinion I wouldn't shit on people that vote Arcaea tho
Same, I started off as an Arcaea player(played for about 4 months), but then realized I have a tablet and should give osu! a try and got hooked completely after a week or two(about to hit 3rd year of playing in nov). Being able to search up literally any song I like and play it was super cool to me. Clicking circles to the beat was just super fun and addicting for some reason. I did start playing the other game modes too which I finally started taking seriously.
I touch Arcaea once in a while but it only lasts like a day before I delete the game or don't touch it all for months. Ipad is broken and I don't really find it as fun to play on the phone. And the offset calibration is a bit scuffed(maybe it's just me), but I would like to give it a chance again. Especially since a lot of cool tech songs come from there.
I randomly found this video and just wanted to say I love rhythm games and played a lot of Spiral Knights in the past.
Truly a shame how it all turned out

Arcaea, like most mobile/arcade rhythm game, is mechanically harder to execute than Osu!Standard, while also having alot of songs and content being locked behind having to pay, but even then, the prices are so low compared to other rhythm games that use the same method, and the charts(or maps for osu players) are made by the official dev team, and not some random on the internet
but
Osu!standard is harder to score on compared to arcaea and the maps are community based, which give the game more diversity and content
also, all songs that are in arcaea are licensed, since most of them are originals, and lots being collab songs or popular songs like PUPA, conflict, and Halcyon
while osu lacks in original songs compared to arcaea, but simply has alot more songs as some random can just upload a map for a song to osu
both games are good
go ahead and say they are copies of other games
i can say arcaea is just 3d piano tiles/sdvx/chunithm but mobile, and i can say osu is just an aim trainer, despite these claims being false, but it's not like people on the internet would understand LOL
just playboth games, arcaea is the highest quality mobile rhythm game while also being the 2nd hardest(dynamix too hard 💀) and osu is easily accessible

can we delete world mode and potential?
I mean if PTT bothers someone that much they can just hide it, which if they're determined about it basically means it's deleted for them. World mode is grindy but it's pretty bog standard for games to have a mechanic to invite you to login frequently and as such it's pretty inoffensive. I guess they could make a couple more maps legacy so you can spend 1-6 stam to clear it faster.
The reason i like osu is because i can play multiplayer in rhyme game with my friends,
and also 4 modes at once.

in all seriousness though I'm glad it did as well as it did (even though that was probably partially due to bracket luck), and the whole thing opened my eyes to a lot of rhythm games that I hadn't heard of before so I'm glad it happened aside from the toxicity
Arcaea is paywall locked, but once you get your own money its not very expensive . I'm myself from a poor background, starting a job next week so I decided to save some money every month for arcaea and honestly, almost 1 dollar for 100 memories is still a great deal, you will end up buying a song pack in just 2-3 months evene if you save money on a monthly basis

ngl the biggest turnoff for from trying arcaea is the comunity. Sure osu has it's bad parts but all things considered it's pretty chill (which would make sense for a comunity-driven game).
