I'm 61 years old, and this is a brand new career for me. I've done so many chapters in my life and this is something I've always wanted to do - coming at it from being a fitness instructor & personal trainer for a few years. always been a car / truck guy. The death of one of my sons turned my head around and now I am out to do the things that interest me and there is no way I will miss out. Thanks for your video and the positivity you have. I'll do great.
Every job has negativities , even if u have a phd even an MD , you start at 60k a year and that's a phd !!! So if u are first year trucker and you run hard and make 50 k your first year and that's not hard to do that's great , second year u can double it if u are smart and find the right carrier that u can work with or even be a trainer and double your salary for sure ... what's really important is staying safe out there and take care of that cdl ... thanks for your support man keep doing what you doing
IM GOING THRU IT FOR SURE, ITS BEEN 30 DAYS SINCE MY MC HAS BEEN ACTIVE AND IVE LOST 4 DIFFERENT LOADS BECAUSE IM A NEW MC AND THE LOAD THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO GET BOOKED WAS GIVEN TO SOMEONE ELSE BECAUSE THE BROKER MY DISPATCH COMPANY WAS GOING THRU WASNT ANSWERING THE REQUESTS TO GET ME APPORIVED AND ITS JUST BEEN SSSOOOOOOOO STRESSFULL, NOT TO MENTION THE INMSURANCE MONEY I GOTTA PAY, I HAVE MADE $0 FROM TRUCKING AND IM FUCKEN STRESSED THE FUCK OUT, SORRY I JUST HAD TO PUT MY EXPERIENCE SO FAR OUT THERE
I'm in trucking school with driver's solution AKA Pam.. I love it my recruiter set the tone.. straight up she like u not going if u don't get your CDL permit... It was hard but we got it .. they push u to be the best.... I'mma in trucking school now did my straight back yesterday and it was awesome... I'm doing my whole year with Pam and if on the road is even better.. I'll become a company driver .. Pam and driver's solution.. helped me
I am working for pam transport as well. I have to admit, this company has been absolutely amazing! Granted, I'm only starting my 3rd month, but, I can honestly say it's going great. They are very positive, understanding to new drivers and very good at helping you learn along the way!
I just spent three weeks at my companies terminal training and met a lot of truckers... lots of negativity. However, there are positive drivers that love what they do. Got to stay positive. Make chicken salad out of chicken shit! Everything in life is what you make it.
Thank you I will probably look at this video when I'm feeling depressed and I'm ready to quit but I need to eat and I know it's going to be a struggle the first year because I'm in a be I'm a working I don't know nothing until I get on the road and start learning stuff
I'm not in the industry but I know it's like anything else yet approached understanding there are things that are going to be the high in the low you're going to have to work at it . you might say it is that it's your business , it's your life, it's your career, it's your environment you're going to have to make it what it is by working at it. Absolutely nothing else out there is anything different not one single kind of work or trade. if you're going to run it like a business and make it your career you're going to have to establish the boundaries, understand it and learn to accept it is exactly what it is. no matter what task or trade you are doing..
What are the odds of not quitting but getting fired for a new driver. Im sure all the trip planning, hours of service, dot inspections, proper weight distrubution , being on time for delivery , lack of sleep etc....all this has to be very stressful and somewhat overwhelming for a rookie. How easy is it to lose your job if a few mistakes are made , such as a few late deliveries? This has to be a common concern for some. Thanks
A hard part of a rookie driver might be finding a place to rest. Better start planning an hour before your 11 hour clock runs down. Walmart parking lots are usually a great option
No company will ever fire you if you run just a bit late.. there's traffic, accident, road condition to keep in mind.. learn how to read a map or find a place to rest, or to get used to be on road 24/7 , those will be some of the issues
Your first yr and half don't worry about miles and money worry about fine tuning your skills by 2 full years life starts to to get easier if you can make 2 years 24 short months you will be hooked for life
My husband and I are in our 50’s and we have been running a flooring contracting company and are considering moving into trucking just for a change of pace. We make a great living but last year we lost 30,000 in revenue and are getting nervous. Thanks for the input
I would stick with what you know changing to trucking is tough especially after 50. Trucking is a lifestyle change which is my experience, if you sure to leave that business totally behind then possibly.
I'm a USMC Veteran and start Schneider National on Monday! Im excited and nervous at the same time. I'm just looking for a good company with a decent pay check. Thank you for your vids!
First, thanks for your service! Man, you are speaking my language. I start Trucking School next week. I'm really excited but nervous as well. Never been behind the wheel and those things look big! Not sure where I'll end up but I'm going with the attitude that the first year will be tough, but nothing comes easy. So some growing pains and learning from my mistakes will make the 2nd year better! Good luck to you!
Misery loves company. There is a lot of negativity on the internet and TH-cam about certain companies and trucking as a career. Easy to get caught up in that crap and it rubs off onto a person fast. You don't start at the top in any job, remember that. There is NO substitute for experience.
Lol gave up velcro and learned to tie my shoe. Hahaha i dided laughing. Thank you for the honesty. My father inlaw worked for pam and he only made like 50 bucks on his check but i think it was mostly his fault and i want to give pam a chance.
There are plenty of jobs out there where you can make close to or just under trucking pay where u can be home by 4pm every day and off on weekends! So maybe young ppl should also consider That as well
At 3-6 months how does anyone REALLY know of a company is good or bad?? It really takes at least a year to learn the ins & outs of any company in any industry.
I went to truck driving school always see ads for local truck routes, but all of them call and say need 1,2 sometimes 3 years experience. Wish I knew this before school. Had interviews with local routes but you have to peddle product and the days off and hours are not stable. Going OTR would be a big challenge for me right now. Any advice? Good videos
What did you do for them dedicated, regional or otr? What was the weekly income avg? I'm thinking about doing dedicated or regional, to have more home time. But I would like to get some insight, really hard to find straight answers.
Xmuslim Atheist Rebel; thank you for the feedback. The training is top notch and even 5 years later a truly appreciate everyone from Driver Solutions to C1 Springfield and their instructors.
Great videos brother.. Wanted to say nice cover too ! I was on the Chucky V / Carl Vinson from early 92- to late 93. . Worked in Air Dept! V5. We're you on board also and what was your Rating ?
I spent everything i had on mu cdl class A i worked with an owner operator 2 months getting negative paychecks because he’s in too much debt and the brokers were taking all the money , this is not worth it guys i will burn that license and never use it again .
HI ! i got a question , i live on Québec Canada and i wanted to become a Truck Driver but i didn't finish high school and i wanted to know if i would still have good chances to find a job in this industry if i don't have a lot of education . Sorry for my english . Thank you !
All your videos are very usefull for me. It's giving me a biggg heads up. If anyone knows a good truck school in the tampa, cleatwater, st.pete area let me know. Im still doing my own research of course but any help on that matter would help. Thanks buddy

Truckers are going to lose their jobs with the self driving trucks coming into the market
Self driving trucks are decades away; not going to be a problem soon.
Never.. Not in OUR lifetime
Four years later. 🤷♀️
