It's amazing how the community keep the 2022 Deck relevant every year I think it's end of deck and I've played some great game through mods on deck smoothly
This is literally just optiscaler/uniscaler/DLSS enabler mod with less steps and a GUI. We've been able to do this on steamos/bazzite for months lmao. What steamos really needs is a driver level implementation of AFMF or lossless scaling that can apply frame gen to any game or emulator without needing motion vectors.
I know its just one guy, but if he somehow implement Lossless Scalling on Linux, i would give 3 days to someone get it in a plugin and we get framegen on any game, 45fps base on the 90hz OLED screen would look great
Like you said. It’s with less steps and a GUI. Nobody is claiming you couldn’t do this before. But what you couldn’t do before is implement it this easily and seamlessly. So more than worth it
Only nvidia dlss supported games works since the mod tinkers with dlss files. So if the game doesn't have dlss support it won't work (from what i understand)
It's kinda crazy. I've been able to use features, like frame gen, on hardware that technically is not capable of doing it. It DRAMATICALLY improves usefulness of aging hardware. I'm interested to see how this method works.
I love the idea of this, but from what I've heard using frame gen when your base fps is already 20-30 fps doesn't feel smooth or fluid because the ai doesn't have much to go off of. how does it look and feel to you? any visual differences, ghosting?
yeah i'd say below 30 real fps i probably wouldn't use it, above 30 is a much better experience, and id say personally i could feel slightly more input lag, and there was some ghosting on moving objects, but the ghosting isn't very noticeable to me becauase i was already using upscaling and there was already ghosting 😂
LCD and OLED is basically the same thing, only battery capacity and screen quality is different, so it's most likely works for both versions of steamdeck.
@@chelz.o There's no reason why it wouldn't get accepted unless there's something weird going on in the code, it's probably not there yet because it's so new. Me personally, I wouldn't go around installing decky plugins from github as soon as I see it.
I'd like to point out something that doesn't seem to be mentioned in this video and may be obvious to some but it appears this increases your power usage so will lead to significantly less battery life while using it. Though I haven't tested it myself so it may not be that significant.
on SteamDeck, I wanted to patch Bodycam and I received an error code 317: "auto upscaler backend failed to load: dlss-enabler-upscaler.dll is corrupted" 😤 ...and the game no longer launches
Yes, its pretty easy, just copy the command line from some game that you installed the mod to the game "exe" in the properties of the game you want to use
Be careful because nothing is free. The graphic rendering by activating the frame generator is not the best. And even if it is a little you can feel an input lag. Tested Hogwarts Legacy on steam deck OLED Personally
This is not AFMF or even lossless scaling, it is an FSR 3 mod. The game must support DLSS to use it and if so, you're better off using uniscaler or optiscaler mods, which pack in much more customizable settings and can be used in both windows and steamos/bazzite.
I don't think this works for Cyberpunk 2077. At least not a modded version. After activating the plugin for Cyberpunk, it overwrote the launch option code that's needed for mods to work. I couldn't get it to work after putting the launch option code for mods back in AFTER the Frame Gen code. I'm not sure if it would work with a different ordering of the codes, and I'm not patient enough to fiddle around with it. Still, seems pretty cool. I'll be trying it out with other games that don't require different launch options.
Hey, I've tried it with cp2077. The first time I loaded the game after applying it the game froze. I restarted the game and it works very well. The only time I see any issues is when driving. There's a very noticeable ghosting at the rear of the car. I hope it gets fixed in due time. But, hopefully this helps you!
What’s interesting is in cyberpunk on the deck you can already natively select FSR 3 and turn on framegen, and it does increase frames but the frame timing is pretty terrible. I assume it forces something to work software wise without having the proper drivers
been using dlss enabler since it came out.. really changes how i play on steamdeck. 6month haven't touch my pc for gaming hahaha.. then decky plugin for frame gen came. made it super easy to enable it may games
Re4, while a dx12 game, does not have dlss, nor frame generation already, there is a mod you can use to mod in dlss, then you can try using another mod called optiscaler to enable frame generation(or if the plugin comes with the correct version, dlss enabler has optiscaler but not as recent)
i just wish there is a frame gen app like lossless scaling on steam deck. i dont use it on my normal hardware because mouse and keyboard latency but with a controller it will be a game changer on handheld that isnt running on windows
I use it with PalWorld and I can lock the frame rate to 30FPS (multiplayer) or 40FPS (singleplayer) and it runs super consistently. Obviously you have to adjust your graphics settings to mostly medium, save shadows and effects. I keep those at low. Textures are set to epic. Draw distance is medium. Works well for me. 👑🤝👑
That's not frame generation but just in general what rendering more frames would do(though, frame generation uses less power more often than not), you can lower tdp /mess with GPU clock speed to fix that
It's only doing to work on DX12 games and ones that already support DLSS. If a game does not support DLSS (an old game like GTAV) it won't work because the mod uses the in game DLSS option to enable the FSR3.1
Least this mod is going to be a fantastic advantage of playing these triple A games, Frame Gen Mod, more people know about this the better, then again theres a catch, it can worn down the battery life before using this Frame Gen Mod so be warned, even if it improves the frame rate.
Well I tried it for myself, and I am not too happy about it. A stable 30fps is, imho, A LOT more satisfying and enjoyable then various 30ish to 80somewhat and (sometimes) unbearable Input Lag. Too bad :( Frame Gen just wont do the trick for me
I wonder how long it will take before valve adds this to the stock steamOS 🤔
The Asus ROG Ally does this universally using amd fluid motion frames, steam deck should at least have the same option
There's no way valve would add a feature that mods your game files

Ok. I need to do this today on my steam deck.
Is there is list of compatible games? I tried a whole bunch of games and non of my games had the option for DLSS. Which is very weird.

Would you know if theres a way to do this for non steam games?
This makes me excited to try Helldivers 2 on my steam deck!
Thanks for the review and the question at the end. Please, do a review how this plugin works with non steam games. Thanks!
The mod enables FSR 3.1 in place of DLSS not FSR1. FSR1 is already available system wide.
And if the mod need update, what is the process of that? need to install manually and uninstall the other one?
The Wexxo whitepaper is top-notch. This project has depth and vision.

Is it okay to use decky framegen with cryo utilities or 4gb vram?
Does it will drain the battery right?
can you do this on steamdeck with windows os?
Do you remove it by just removing the launch option

The Wexxo presale is a no-brainer.
I’ve been searching for the next big thing, and Wexxo’s AI gaming ecosystem checks every box.
I am tempted to put Steam OS on my ally X. With this plug-in, would you say it’s equal to the windows counterpart?

just download fsr 3.1 mod with ghosting fix from nexus, with that mods i get stable 60 fps at medium settings with xess balanced

Can this make games that average 15-25 fps on steam deck playable? If not, would dual booting to use lossless scaling 3.0 be better for that?
Absolutely not for either case.

I can select nvidia dlss on red dead redemption but the framegen option appears to be locked for some reason? Anybody know a fix?
Is it compatible for all games?
no, only games with DLSS. This plugin mods your games files, turning DLSS into FSR3 upscaling and FG

Looking at how much extra wattage the battery draws at 0:18, I'd rather just lock the game to 30 fps and play for longer

Does it work with gta5?
It's only doing to work on DX12 games and ones that already support DLSS. If a game does not support DLSS (an old game like GTAV) it won't work because the mod uses the in game DLSS option to enable the FSR3.1
why you need that? Gta 5 works great in steam deck
Wow this is cool. Definitely not right for some games but what a great option.
What games are supported?
Any dlss supported games
Any dx12 games, with dlss
I see the input lag from here omg
