Gintama continues to remain an enigma for me. How it manages to have so many meta references and potty humor in a serious heart-wrenching story is genuinely amazing.
The Japanese is probably always going to reign supreme for this series specifically, but the Ocean dub was by far the best attempt. Honestly, if they just got that cast and crew together to do the rest of the series, and maybe redo the movies, I think it'd be the best dub we could hope for for Gintama.

It was Gintoki v Takasugi in Shogun Assassination and it turned out really good. Had me excited if hulu ever continued Gintama where they left off. The cast eleven arts with is still good. Michael was great during comedy episodes. This video is making me want to buy tickets for the dub and then watch the sub on the same day. I do think the localization approach the Miami dub made is good. But I also like how Crunchyroll handles the script too. I think I would like a dub that was on a middle ground to what these two dubs did
1:28 just a brief reminder that I for one am here for the dub commentary, cuz you're the only ones who do it! Please please do not stop~ Speaking as the odd anime fan who never saw Gintama aside one episode or so subbed, frankly, this is why. There's never been a clear entry point for a fan who generally wants to watch dubs and the obtuse humor being the point is... well a niche opinion. Unsurprisingly I'm on the side of taking even more liberties (maybe short of changing entire character names, which seems out of vogue nowadays) - but a fascinating and useful chronicle of what's been happening to this series over the years. Wish we could get some idea of why the localization attempts were so scattered...
There actually KINDA is a reason that Cartoon Cipher didn't mention, Sentai didn't just license the first movie they did in fact license the TV series and released the first 49 episodes across 4 sub-only DVD sets and there was a tweet from Funimation back when Gintama first got announced where they said they just couldn't get the license to the first 2 series which is why they started with series 3. This next part is speculation on my end but I would guess Sentai still had the license to those first 250 episodes which is why CR and Funi didn't start at the beginning and Sentai just knew they were gonna do nothing with the license so TV Tokyo themselves just decided to commission a dub themselves and release that on Hulu since Sentai still had the license and wanted to let it expire. It might've expired by now so maybe/hopefully now that CR and Funi are partners again they'll actually go and commission Ocean once again to dub the rest of the anime
The day there's a Gintama dub, in any language, that "works" is when I'll stop being a MADAO, get a job and move out of my tangerine cardboard box. But until then I have my dog and my radio, and nothing else worthy in the world.
NGL I like the UG dub because it reminds me some of dubs from ADV in the 90s and early 2000s (Eva, Blue Seed, Excell Saga, etc) when the anime fandom was still pretty small and nascent. It has this quirky, semi-amateurish yet appealing style about it that drives home how much these people are trying their best to make a watchable experience; and but I'm happy that the localisation work went to a small group in Miami rather than to the umbrella of Sony/Funimation. I honestly think it makes the show more fun to watch. Also, I'm from Kentucky, so the possibility that "Gintoki Fried Chicken" is an allowable pun fills me with glee.
@Janeiro I I'm not sure what was ignorant and I can assure you I have seen good quality dubs. And I agree with what you've said. I'm under no illusion that there were not quality dubs in that time period. But at the same time the industry was much less systematized than it is today which allowed for a range of smaller licensors and VA studios as well as the main ones (Pioneer particularly), and that this dub reminds me of that since they are a smaller studio, which means they are going to have a bit more difficulty than Funimation or any other big VA studio, which I think is really interesting.
Wow, I never thought the day would come when you guys would make a video about the Gintama dubs. Overall, I agree with a lot of your points. Maybe I'm biased as a Canadian, but for me the Ocean dub was by far the best one, and I'm gutted that they never got the chance to do the rest of the series. With that said, I'm pretty annoyed that Eleven Arts commissioned Sentai to do the movie for the Very Final. In the Gintama fandom, the Sentai dub is not seen in a good light *at all*, and the Ocean dub is the definite favourite. I wish the Ocean cast got to dub these characters one last time. They had 50ish episodes of experience compared to the Sentai actors who did one movie, and a rather poor job at it. I'm going to watch both the dub and sub in theatres (as Gintama is my favourite manga/anime of all time), so I really hope you're right about the Sentai actors improving. I'd rather just have a separate movie dubbed by the Ocean cast, but meh... Anyway, thanks a lot for covering the Gintama dubs!
Haha thank you glad you liked it! Yeah if you're super attached to the Ocean cast The Very Final might not live up to it even tho it's definitely better than the old Sentai dub haha. I think the various side characters were the Ocean dub's greatest strength and I miss them too...
Great video. I feel that the Ocean dub thus far was the best rendition of getting a decent Gintama dub. Not that the others didn't try their best but they did fall flat in a lot of cases. Looking forward to seeing the movie in dub, and how they do with it. Hopefully this'll open the doors for more Gintama dubbing opportunities in the future, like dubbing the entire series this time and not just parts of it🙂🤷🏾♂️
I'll admit the big takeaway I have from this video is definitely that the Miami dub is better than I thought along with the Ocean dub not being the perfect dub I thought it was. I formed my opinion on both based off of the initial episodes I saw of both (in my defense usually English dubs don't dip super bad partway through so I thought it was a safe assumption) I also don't shit on the Miami dub much anymore anyway just due to that Gintoki VA clearly being humble and saying he would do much better if he had the chance again (which I fully believe) Really the only problem I have at this point is just the very basic fact that we never really will get a properly handled dub. That bit where you mentioned Gintoki's Japanese VA having a somber tone due to it being the true last thing he'll ever record for that character is something that will likely never be felt in that movie by the English VAs especially now. There's also just the fact that at this point BEST CASE scenario we'll get a completed dub with the Ocean cast, and if I'm being honest that's the only thing I can really accept unless literally EVERYTHING is redubbed including the final which obviously isn't happening. I hate watching anime subtitled with a burning passion (not saying subs themselves or people who watch them are bad) and I know I would love Gintama unconditionally, so it's a massive shame I may never get to experience one of the greatest anime ever fully in my preferred anime consumption method. Here's hoping Ocean can do a full dub one day I guess. At least we have what already exists
The hulu dub was my first experience with Gintama and even though it's not the highest quality, I definitely enjoyed every second of it It hooked me onto Gintoki's sarcastic personality as much as the original would've, I even had a small phase where I'd try talking like him, I was so addicted to the vibe he gave off But nonetheless, I'm happy with Gintama subbed as well I personally want the hulu dub to continue, but if there ever will be another dub, and hopefully one that does the entire series chronologically, and does it's best to handle hard to translate jokes (even if they had to resort to 4th wall breaking and stuff, which I personally would not mind one bit) There's one thing I ask for You know the va that voiced Roy Mustang in FMA's dub? Put him on Hijikata I swear to god
I absolutely LOVE LOVE Gintama so much and I grew up watching anime sub only, so the world of English dub is very new to me. I don't know if I should muster the courage to watch The Final in its dub (I bought the blu ray!), because watching the Japanese cast perform was...extremely intense. I cried very hard. I'm kinda scared to see the dub at this point lol This was a very interesting and in-depth discussion about the Gintama dub! I always did wonder why only parts of it had an English dub and I just kinda assumed that Gintama itself wasn't popular enough in English-speaking countries to warrant a full dub. From what I've seen in this video, the Gintoki dub by Roly Gutierrez sounded really, really good. It makes me very curious to watch the movie, even though I know he's not in it for that one. Ugh, I miss Gintama already.
I'd love to see a discussion on the Lupin III dubs, there's so many of them and only recently has TMS put together a consistent cast for their productions.
I was gonna make a video about how I think a good Gintama Dub should embrace the 4th wall and make not only jokes more contemporary and for more for an occidental audience, but also being self aware that it's not only an anime, but the Gintama dub. A dub of a show of more than a decade ago that's difficult to do.... but this video already exits, and I love that someone else is doing it justice
Yeah honestly that may as well be the best approach but of course it's gonna be dependent on the timing as that's pretty important for comedy. There are some obscure references that are pretty blatant though so it would still be challenging to do. I just want it to be done well and with respect. I used to think the Miami dub was trash but I clearly see its strengths and what it accomplished even if it was amateur, which makes me hate the Sentai dub of the first film even more because of how bastardized the script and voice direction is. I'm seeing the final movie in theaters on Sunday as I type this but I'm not seeing it dubbed considering most of the cast is Sentai even if the core cast is from Canada. It just leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. Plus nothing will truly top the OG cast since they're very core to the experience.
The season 1 dubbing for Gintama is the only English dubbing that was actually good. I just didn’t like how they pronounced Gintoki’s name and changed Katura’s nick name. Other than that though the dubbing was good. All of the English voice actors in season 1 in my opinion were the best voices. I hope someday they re-dub Gintama with the season 1 voices. Mostly what the season 1 English voice actors would have to do is practice pronouncing the names better, especially Gintoki’s and change Katsura’s nick name back to Zura and they’re all set.
I’m all sub but I did put on the Soul Swap arc in dub just to see what it was like. Which made absolutely no difference to me because I wasn’t familiar with the English cast in the first place 😂. I lost it at Maya Sizitzy so they were definitely doing something right. This was an amazing video!
Honestly I believe any comedy relying heavily on references to an obscure cultural thing or similar is a pain to translate to a dub. If any company/organization/group with limited restrictions I would love to see how Teamfourstar interpreters the material, I wouldn't want them to abridge the show but let them add more cultural references that a dub audience would get in the end. I doubt a fully precis dub would work as well as one with a bit more "Western" influences would work, as any media interpreted for a different language and audience would do. Honestly I have kept my distance for this reason and doubt that any studio can do it justice but if anyone ever does do try a dub from the start of the show and go on to the end I wish them the best and hope it turns out great.
Actually, y’know what, I think the best translation of the Zura thing is just Zoo. It’s stupid enough that in-character Zura would hate it, it fits with the theme of that one scene later on of Zura going ape, and leaves an extra lip flap for the dubbers to work with. Miss out on all the wig jokes but hey, can’t have everything.
About the Hulu Gintama dub, before Anime News Network reveal the English dub announcement on November 24, 2019, 16 day ago, Hulu add the the English dub of Episode one part 1 of Gintama on November 8, 2019, before the full dub got release on December 1, 2019, part 2 was not added at that time, The first episode part 1 of the Gintama dub was on Hulu for few days before it was remove on November 15, 2019.
They did fk up Katsuras man a million times in the original so maybe that was intentional. He was called katsudon Katsuro and many other Katsus I can't remember. I'm surprised they almost have the right idea the way they break the 4th wall.
I see how difficult is to make sound the character similar to the jappanise version in english luckely It Is much easier to do so in italian and cause of it we recently got the full series dubbed
12:36 Yeahhh no he's been deconstruction those tropes and essentially wrote a story about an empty man regaining meaning into his life after losing everything
The ゜is known as the "handakuten" and it's used for the はひふへほ family where initially having the H consonant (except forふ/fu) changes to the P consonant. As for why it's called Gintama゜, just Gintama being Gintama.
As always, I enjoy watching your videos. They're just a lot of fun and informative. Thou, I don't plan to see this movie as I've only watched a few episodes and I just don't want to see a film to something that I only know little of. Maybe if a DVD/Bluray comes out and I have seen more, then perhaps I will.
I picked up Gintama after finishing Naruto and getting to around 850 in One Piece. Ik it had been around for a long while so when I got to episode 50 and it was no longer in dub I was shook. My friend keeps telling me to stop watching shows in dub cuz this happens a lot. Quite sad. Especially since it's been a year since this video has come out.
Gintama fans dub in my country is surprisingly good! I kinda proud bcs the cursed language is just fit well in our language Oh i'm Indonesian btw- there's example IND dub of gintama in youtube, but sadly it's just a fans dub and only dub the recommended eps.
I think they should have had bonus episodes or endings that explained Japanese pop culture, the manga was a decent way to understand some of it because they can just add text or small notes but for an anime that can get distracting
That is why I like translator notes I want to explore and learn about japanese dick puns. You would need very charismatic va's who really care about gintama and who have the time to do research on the cultural refences to nail them which is a big ask. You would also need giga brained translators and a lot of transparence with the community which are also big asks. For jokes that are untranslatable and can not be worked around they should definably have 4th wall break, or have a reoccurring gag about how the translators and localizers are suffering. Gintama has many moments where at the start of an episode the characters talk over a shot of the oddjobs building and they could include that in their. You can probably include a gag of the va's trying to sing the op in english.
Honestly, dubbing has always been a bit of a weak area for me, and Gintama I can see why. I think something that would be great if they did something similar to the "Urusei Yatsura" BBC dub, where pretty much the entire script and jokes were rewritten and it was absolutely AMAZING.
Have been watching and reading it for years and I enjoy the fact We have so many different ways to enjoy gintama is amazing to me it was amazing wen I found the Sub back in the day and getting a dub was crazy to me then as it is now
And if I ware to have the control over a dubbed at all I would make the perfect cast choices as a huge Chris Patton fan I would ask him to play gintoik and then after that I would focus on marketing the show to the right people
I’m very curious the first season has Gintama English dubs of the season don’t have no dubs at all what the hell is going on if you can tell me what is going on and tell me if they’re gonna eventually get it down the line which don’t look like it but to me is kind of irritating because it is a good anime and it makes no damn sense to me
Cole Howard deserved an award for being the best English Shinpachi voice hands down. I feel out of all the Gintama characters he's the hardest to get right.
for me the Miami dub introduced me to Gintoki , and I was hooked on his character and got me simping over Kagura and annoyed at Shinpachi , and wanting Prince Hata to die every time he was on screen
Gintama should be dubbed loyal to the manga/anime. Especially with the jokes that don't translate well. the japanese subs had it right detailing the necessary references each joke has
>Sentai mispronounces names. "wth sentai come on" >Miami pronounces Gintoki's name almost immaculately "c'mon guys it sounds like kentucky lmao" Pick one, because you can't have it both ways, unless you wanna be a hypocrite.
Yeah fair enough. The Miami dub's emphasis is more accurate to the Japanese by stressing the 1st syllable rather than the 2nd, the other dubs don't do that afaik. But I think a consequence of that is that since the "to" gets less emphasis than the "Gin" in the Miami dub, the vowel becomes more vague and sounds more like an "uh" than an "oh". I'll update the pinned comment to add that info.
@@TheCartoonCipher I think the takeway should perhaps be that accurately pronouncing japanese names isn't that important for a dub compared to having a good script and good performances. Gintoki being pronounced correctly doesn't really do much to make the Miami dub better. While on the other hand, a really good dub like Steins;Gate can pronounce Okabe as Oukabae while detracting nothing from the overall experience. Subject to some personal opinion of course, and I'm definitely a hypocrite in this regard myself to some extent (the UBW reading Tohsaka as "Toesaka" for instance was a big part of why I switched to subs), but still some food for thought.
@@storotso Hard disagree on the pronunciation part. To me with any name you have to be accurate and pronounce someone's name correctly out of respect, fictional or otherwise. I get not everyone speaks a foreign language but an effort should be placed there. If the anime character is say, Joseph Joestar then it may not be a deal breaker, but for a specifically Japanese name you need to be aware. I feel people are afraid of being corrected when they get a name wrong when really they should be encouraged to get it right.
@@RoboticEdward In the Naruto dub, there's two ways they pronounced Naruto. Narr-u-to, or Na-duto (more on the Japanese pronounication, Sasuke usually says it this way, as well as a few other characters). The wrong way to pronounce Naruto is the stressing of the RU like a lot of people unfortunately do in Na-RUU-to. ' And what's really interesting is that therre is a Vinland Saga anime where there's two dubs. The show is about vikings, and the two dubs go about completely appoarch in pronoincation of names (not just characters but places, etc). n One is how most English speakers wouldd say the names, and the others would be more historically correct. So much so, Vikings isn't pronounced like you're used to, it's Vee-kings (which is correct, though I admit it caught me off-guard)
The dub would have to have footnotes for it to work. Though needless to say, the experience wouldn't be as smooth as if you were a native Japanese watcher.
I don't think a dub is possible but if I have to say then I say the important thing is the soul of the show if they can preserve that some who it can be a decent dub
I was watching this anime a few day's ago and i know gintama make alot of anime references but i honestly was not expecting a lupin the 3rd reference 😵🤣
I don't know why you unlove my last comment about the Hulu Gintama dub, I did not tell you this, but I am telling the truth, I actually saw the English dub of Episode one part 1 of Gintama on Hulu back in November 8, 2019, and no one was talking about it, No one know the dub existed back in November 8 to 23, because only 43 million people subscribe to Hulu and hardly anyone saw the dub back in early November, I was one of the few people to see the Episode one part 1 of Gintama Hulu dub first, before the full dub got release. I was a Hulu subscriber, and I remember finding the show on Hulu after going through network and finding TV Tokyo, and I soon when on it and found the Gintama dub list it on Hulu on November 8, So I watch Part 1 of the first episode before it was remove by Hulu, and I try to look up the Hulu dub of Gintama after it was remove on November 15 to see if people are talking about it and guess what, no one was talking about it. People will soon start talking about the Gintama Hulu dub after Anime News Network announce the dub on November 23.
25:06 - OOOOOOOOHHHHHH…. _THAT’S_ why so many people praise Gintama and its humor… and it’s probably why I never felt that compelled to watch it. I don’t watch abridged series.

The cast eleven arts with is still good. Michael was great during comedy episodes. This video is making me want to buy tickets for the dub and then watch the sub on the same day.
I do think the localization approach the Miami dub made is good. But I also like how Crunchyroll handles the script too. I think I would like a dub that was on a middle ground to what these two dubs did
Really really thank you for covering this series! even if not that big, im glad you're exposing it more to other people!!
I hope there's a quick note on the Gintama the Final movie dub.
You're in luck
1:28 just a brief reminder that I for one am here for the dub commentary, cuz you're the only ones who do it! Please please do not stop~
Speaking as the odd anime fan who never saw Gintama aside one episode or so subbed, frankly, this is why.
11:50 Akira slide. _Of course_ this show has an Akira slide.
As an editor myself.. Youre editing is fucking phenomenal, on another level. Jesus christ. I gotta step my game up! so cinematic, so fantastic. Subed
Lol Gintama is impossible to dub. Even subbing Gintama is a difficult task.
Hopefully this'll open the doors for more Gintama dubbing opportunities in the future, like dubbing the entire series this time and not just parts of it🙂🤷🏾♂️
I really liked Hulu's Gintoki's voice actor, the Strawberry Milky speech speaks to me
I'll admit the big takeaway I have from this video is definitely that the Miami dub is better than I thought along with the Ocean dub not being the perfect dub I thought it was.
2:54 I do not envy the man responsible for directing the dub to Prisma Illya.
The hulu dub was my first experience with Gintama and even though it's not the highest quality, I definitely enjoyed every second of it
It hooked me onto Gintoki's sarcastic personality as much as the original would've, I even had a small phase where I'd try talking like him, I was so addicted to the vibe he gave off
But nonetheless, I'm happy with Gintama subbed as well
I personally want the hulu dub to continue, but if there ever will be another dub, and hopefully one that does the entire series chronologically, and does it's best to handle hard to translate jokes (even if they had to resort to 4th wall breaking and stuff, which I personally would not mind one bit)
There's one thing I ask for
You know the va that voiced Roy Mustang in FMA's dub?
Put him on Hijikata I swear to god
I love Chris Patton, I wish he was in more dubs. His work in NHK was some of my favourite voice acting period.
I'm kinda scared to see the dub at this point lol
This was a very interesting and in-depth discussion about the Gintama dub!
8:36 Sounds more like ouat than oat?
8:38 Sounds like sory, failing to pronounce the second r, rather than sorey too.
I'd love to see a discussion on the Lupin III dubs, there's so many of them and only recently has TMS put together a consistent cast for their productions.
I second that motion.
They should go full Ghost Stories dub
I remember being terrified of Bobobobobobo as a child due to how out there it as. I probably would enjoy it now.
0:24 that transition from Live and Learn to Pray tho
21:13 I’d take Cobra over Casserole any day. At least Cobra kindaaaaa works for that one scene towards the end.
13:32 Is the subtitles saying pneumonics here intentional?
oops lol
Gintama is a weird beast to begin with. the dubs basically had no chance of landing. Heck the subtitle some times have problem
They did fk up Katsuras man a million times in the original so maybe that was intentional. He was called katsudon Katsuro and many other Katsus I can't remember. I'm surprised they almost have the right idea the way they break the 4th wall.
Very good analysis.
18:39 ohhhhhh no wonder hulu only has the first 49 episodes. Still upset that they don't even have the whole series.
I see how difficult is to make sound the character similar to the jappanise version in english luckely It Is much easier to do so in italian and cause of it we recently got the full series dubbed
I finished Gintama last month, and yeah, dubbing it is so hard
Return of the King
Where do you find all the dubs? I can only find the first 50 episodes =(
I came here for answers man I’m gonna crie😭😭😭
Idk why the "dickhead bomb" line had me dying, lmao.
12:36 Yeahhh no he's been deconstruction those tropes and essentially wrote a story about an empty man regaining meaning into his life after losing everything
I can't find the sentai movie dub anywhere onlien, it's like it never existed/scrubbed from history
The ゜is known as the "handakuten" and it's used for the はひふへほ family where initially having the H consonant (except forふ/fu) changes to the P consonant. As for why it's called Gintama゜, just Gintama being Gintama.
21:14 Zura ja nai captain cobra da lol
Gintama dub sounds like an abridged series.
Benizakura arc was the first action oriented arc so I do understand why they decided to give a first shot with a movie and not series.
I’ve watched the final movie around 26 times now I’m sad that there will be no more strawberry milk lovers in my anime
Man, western anime fans gotta discover gintama NOW. Been waiting too long
As always, I enjoy watching your videos.
I kinda proud bcs the cursed language is just fit well in our language
Oh i'm Indonesian btw- there's example IND dub of gintama in youtube, but sadly it's just a fans dub and only dub the recommended eps.
The pauses are more awkward when the characters aren't even looking at the camera
I think they should have had bonus episodes or endings that explained Japanese pop culture, the manga was a decent way to understand some of it because they can just add text or small notes but for an anime that can get distracting
Thank you, Toei. Goodbye, Seven Arts. And to all the voice casts - congratulations.
Thanks for doing this video, but I'll definitely watch the sub when I get around to watching Gintama.
Is it possible for you guys to do a video on Black Lagoon's dub? Now that would be really ahem.....interesting lol
2015 Gintama voice actor are amazing
I love Hasegawa’s generic surfer dude bro’s voice for one of his dubs. It’s so bad it’s good. For me at least.
Honestly, dubbing has always been a bit of a weak area for me, and Gintama I can see why. I think something that would be great if they did something similar to the "Urusei Yatsura" BBC dub, where pretty much the entire script and jokes were rewritten and it was absolutely AMAZING.
Have been watching and reading it for years and I enjoy the fact
We have so many different ways to enjoy gintama is amazing to me it was amazing wen I found the Sub back in the day and getting a dub was crazy to me then as it is now
And if I ware to have the control over a dubbed at all I would make the perfect cast choices as a huge Chris Patton fan I would ask him to play gintoik and then after that I would focus on marketing the show to the right people
Me waiting for gintama season 12
And dont want it ended
Yes Zura
Me too
I smell a parody song.
"How do you solve a problem like Maria?"
How do you dub an anime like Gintama?
you really don't wanna hear either of us trying to sing haha
So what do you know if they are going to dub season 2 & 4 & the movies?
Can you talk About Kaitou Joker Dub?
7:10 has me cracking up 😂
I just want them to dub all of the episodes.
Why is there only 49 Episodes Dubbed of 201 of season 1.
Because the dub is awful
I’m very curious the first season has Gintama English dubs of the season don’t have no dubs at all what the hell is going on if you can tell me what is going on and tell me if they’re gonna eventually get it down the line which don’t look like it but to me is kind of irritating because it is a good anime and it makes no damn sense to me
20:53 Hahahahahahahaha(I literally laughing now)
Straight-up, that legitimately made me laugh so hard that my voice could be heard across the house when I first heard that line.
TThe Ocean dub is my favourite, one key reason is it is the only one in English where I don't dislike Shinpachis voice.
23:31 Sakamoto had that issue too
BRUH WHERE THE FUCK CAN I FIND THE REST OF SEASON ONE DUBED???? Or am I gonna have to watch it in sub
Unfortunately in the time since we made this video, the season 1 dub has been taken down from Hulu.
Gintama should be dubbed loyal to the manga/anime. Especially with the jokes that don't translate well. the japanese subs had it right detailing the necessary references each joke has
Very nice. As ESL I don't mind hal ass dub as long it's consistent and the joke still there
Benizakura dub Shinpachi sounds like an abridged parody version of Shinpachi but like, in a bad way.
Hahahahahahah “gintoki” to “Kentucky” I can’t
8:36 What are you trying to say aboot Canadian dubs, eh?
Oh wow gins crazy stalker chic is haruko from FLCL
>Sentai mispronounces names.
"wth sentai come on"
>Miami pronounces Gintoki's name almost immaculately
"c'mon guys it sounds like kentucky lmao"
Pick one, because you can't have it both ways, unless you wanna be a hypocrite.
And what's really interesting is that therre is a Vinland Saga anime where there's two dubs.
I wonder what they gona do with the "just aways"
I listen to you because
You make every nice videos about dubs
And l love me my dubs
12:20 what music is this
Robin Hood Prince of Thieves overture
The dub would have to have footnotes for it to work. Though needless to say, the experience wouldn't be as smooth as if you were a native Japanese watcher.
The irony is that Gintama is even dubbed in English
The tetsusko killed me
I don't think a dub is possible but if I have to say then I say the important thing is the soul of the show if they can preserve that some who it can be a decent dub
I was watching this anime a few day's ago and i know gintama make alot of anime references but i honestly was not expecting a lupin the 3rd reference 😵🤣
I just saw that episode last night lol
Sorry I have fat fingers :/ probably pressed it twice on mobile
@@TheCartoonCipher Oh, Ok.
“Certain lawsuit?”
I heard the Kingdom Hearts music in the video lol
25:06 - OOOOOOOOHHHHHH…. _THAT’S_ why so many people praise Gintama and its humor… and it’s probably why I never felt that compelled to watch it. I don’t watch abridged series.
I think it needs the gag dub treatment, but the licensors won't let it happen
