- Jackrussells were bred to kill small animals! You can see that it is in my little doggy’s heart! Their small body and strong paws are built to go through small holes and hunt for these little creatures.
This is Sonic, my JackRussell! He currently passed around the year 2021. He has been with my family and I for almost 7 years. This recording was just at random as it happened so sudden. He was 3 years of age in this current event. He was the smartest and fearless dog!

Jack Russells are just badass to the bone, they will take care of poisonous snakes like no other dog can and, very rarely get bitten. They are very popular in Australia where dangerous snakes can be found all over your backyard. Before you let the kids go play outside, just give the Jack Russell a few minutes to clean up the yard, they are amazing dogs with the biggest heart.

If it's the girl you're calling dumb because she was giggling, you've got to understand that people react differently to different situations. My bet is that it was the first time she saw her dog acting like that, probably stressed to the point of not knowing what animal the save at that point. Personally, I would have called back my dog if it was poisonous but, like I said JRT's are killers and it's just better to stay way back and let it do what it was bred to do, giggling is optional and looks a bit cruel at best.

The dog did do what he was supposed to, though I do feel sorry for the snake, who merely ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time. As long as they're not venomous, I'm okay with them.

My Chow/Wolf mixed Bo Boy was great at that too. He ran off a burglar once that I'm aware of as well! Lol But he's gone over the Rainbow Bridge too as they say. 😕

Mu buddy's Jack Russell once dug in the deep snow, then came out with a black rat snake in her mouth. Somehow she knew that thing was in the ground, below us! I've never talked about a dog so much.

This is EXACTLY what terriers are bred to do. I would be thrilled if I had a Jack who did this without training. That's a sign of excellent breeding right there: a sound dog with all its instincts intact.

That Jack Russell terrier knows exactly what it's doing and it's doing what it was bred to do, to hunt and kill. My dachshund did the same thing with house mice.

When I saw that it was a black snake I was sorry for it. I always welcomed black snakes - they are very beneficial, especially on the acreage I used to have. They're harmless to stock & pets, but they keep rats, mice & other pest numbers down.

I think it's a black racer, a harmless snake, actually beneficial on farms cause they kill rats, but so do JRTs. That's one hell of a tough little dog! Kudos!!
I think you might be right on it being a black racer. A harmless,beautiful, and very stupid species of snake, due to the amount of times I've almost stepped on one because it didn't move until the last minute. My dog did stomp on one particularly stupid one once, she wasn't even aware it was there she was just a excited German Shepherd going after a squirrel,the snake just spazed not even trying to strike.

Rest in peace bella. My old jack Russel saved me and my cousin on the trampoline from a carpet snake. She never got hurt fearless dog.

We had russells all our lives, lost our last one at 17 nearly a year ago. He lived with a lab and a ridgeback, but was definitely top dog. We used to get him to move recalcitrant poultry out from under the sheds at bedtime. As long as you gave instructions in a calm voice, he would either push or pull them out fairly gently. If your tone was more aggressive, the result would be less fortunate. The russell shown here is typical of the breed. Here in England, if you've never been on a rat hunt with a gang of terriers, you haven't lived. Absolute pandemonium, I defy anyone to be calm in the middle of that. If that's not for you, fair enough. But nobody likes rats, including russells. Ours has left a hole in our lives far in excess of his size.

My jack Russell mistakes a simple garden hose as a snake if it’s turned on even though he’s never seen a snake. Good to have if you live somewhere where snakes are a hazard to kids. Obviously you don’t want to throw them into every encounter, but let’s say you have a kid playing in your yard and the dog happens to be there, you bet your ass they’ll take it out

Although I am an import (Canadian Australian with 20 years' standing in Australia), I am far from unique in fearing snakes. Many of us are genuine sufferers, and can't pretend otherwise ("fearful of snakes")
