Lived, worked, played in Monterey for 3 years and this video touched on all the hangouts. My favorite was sitting out early morning by the Wax Museum, watch the fishing boats go by and listen to the sounds of the sea lions. Great video!
Had the best calamari of my life, at a dinner on the wharf pier restaurant there. Had a coupon for a free appetizer, from my hotel, and it was highly recommended. I was doubtful, since I'd never liked it. Like my first time having escargot at a French restaurant in San Francisco. A disappointment. I used to wonder why people liked the rubber band delicacy. It's been the quality and prep, all along.
Great video.. the mike worked great I could hear the water washing over the sand. I love that sound..I didn't hear any wind. That Jax is something else. The biggest sand box in the world and he was going after the ladies.. HA! Ha! Have a great day....
California is a beautiful state! I haven't been there in many years but I remember how gorgeous The Sun sets were on the Pacific Ocean. you and Jax live a real great life, to be able to travel to so many different places.

Thanks for posting this video. It brought back a lot of good memories, I was stationed at Fort Ord from 1981 to 1986. When I first got there they were filming the movie John Steinbeck's Cannery Row and before I left Ft. Ord they had filmed the movie Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, the Star Trek movie aquarium scenes were filmed at Cannery Row.
I can't wait to go to Monterey. I love sardines and this would be a great place for me. Have fun Eric and if I don't comment on any other before Christmas you have a very joyous and blessed Christmas.

It's actually kinda funny, today I actually took a walk around Cannery Row and pretty much visited some of the spots you visited in this video. anyways, great video!
Hubby and i have done that wax museum very fun. And as i said on your last video the walking tour is fun too and free. Hope you had a good time. Monterey is a nice place to visit. On down the road is a light house and of course the tide pools and the butterfly trees.
Yes the aquarium is a must see. Just north of it is another shopping area and has many sea lions in the wharf. The artichoke fields north of Monterey are spectacular. There is a redwood park north and east on the road toward San Jose also. The whole are is just great. Like the video.
+Richard Heinz I remember an old statistic "all the commercially grown artichokes in the US are grown on approx. 10.000 acres near Castroville". My suspicion is that now it's a hell of a lot less than 10.000 acres.
That's a beautiful little town, except it looks like it may be getting too 'touristy'. That hike & bike path is an encouraging sign, though. The free street parking is nice, too. Loved the rocky, sandy beach. It would be great to have a Folbot folding sea kayak, or a small, car-top sail boat for times like these. Happy Trails

+Bill and Rosa Off Grid Homestead I was about to suggest the same. The loop should reduce and equalize the load on the gimbal enough for the gimbal to do... gimbal things again :D (it's not necessarily only the weight of the cable, but also the kinetic energy from the movement of the free hanging calbe upsetting the stabilization)
TheCloudhopper I use the adapter to a 3 foot extension. I loop about 6 inches and the gimble doesn't even know its there. when i tied it free hanging then the gimble would act up a little. Lessons learned.
The Wolfe Fam the iphone does not have good noise (wind) blocking. I even tried using a small digital recorder and syncing it up. that was a lot of work. Being just a novice at video I am learning a lot off other big channels on youtube.

+John Acord I would have loved Georgia. Lousianna has too many snakes, spiders, bugs, etc. Plus it's super hot with a lot of humidity. I didn't like camping out in swamps, or doing the night navigation course at all.
Bet ya, it's a very high rent district. Must be a challenge to even find a good boon-docking spot within the city limits. Might be a good idea to get your bike back, so in situations like this you could park in that 3 hour zone, and bike around the area to scope out your next move.
In that shop window right above you where you played the Elvis fortune teller were some wicked skull trinkets. They looked pretty cool in different sizes and shades of color etc. I'm surprised you didn't check that shop out it looked like it had some really neat stuff in it maybe even some fun souvenirs.

should have checked your tourist guide, that restaurant "The Sardine Factory" just may be arguably be the finest restaurant on the Monterey Peninsula. That Seaside beach you were on I used to use to ride the piss out of ATV's in the 70's. All that is of coursed banned now.
Just an FYI, I don't know if it applies to the west, some states on the east coast do not allow motorhomes over 24 feet to park anywhere near the beach. It's a very large fine. Even if it's not posted anywhere. They will tow the vehicle. They state it's the RV owners responsibility to know the rules. I received a very large fine in Ocean City, New Jersey. There is no parking allowed on any of the streets there.
Actually Eric they do have to put a tent over a house like that to get rid of bed bug infestations. They have to get the temp up to over 100 degrees for a prolonged amount of time to kill them and all the eggs. Is the only way to do it.
We have a great place for you to park at our home in Morro Bay....Been watching for over a year now, so would be cool to meet you & Jax....Just let me know and I'll give you directions....safe travels!

take the mic cable from the camera back to a loop on the stick to control the weight. It doesn't have to be tight but that will make a "stable load" for the gimble to work with.

If you make it to pismo california and you like clam chowder eat at the splash cafe by the pier. I blew my motor in my truck on the way from Fresno to pismoon my california trip and didn't make it it is the best chowder i have ever had and i crave it every time i eat chowder. Down the street on cypress is pismo beach fish and chips. hands down best ma and pa seafood joint in pismo.
It's walking distance from pier so you can get some and go sit ocean side and relax there is a Walmart about a mile away if you don't mind the walk to park. I have never taken anything bigger then a suv down to the pier but there was a dirt lot to park at last time I was there.

i put a loop off the handle taped cord and then turned on the gimble and it took in the weight change on my setup. works great

I did my Army basic training at nearby Fort Ord. That is one of the nicer parts of California.
I did my AIT at Gordon in 68. I did not much care for Georgia.

the city the beach was in the approately named Sand City. 1/2 mile from my house. great area :)

+John S Kay It's not the rear main seal that is leaking. Flexplate behind Transmission was clear of oil. Leaning toward valve cover gaskets now.
