Whoa. Very dodgy. It must have been a massive relief to finally arrive at the Europahutte. For anyone watching this video in preparation for their own hike along the Walkers Haute, we walked up the valley from St Niklaus to Herbriggen and then headed up the mountain from there. It was a nice hike. I also had a little chuckle about your comment about the last day's hike. We also assumed that it was pretty much all downhill so we weren't mentally prepared for the numerous uphill bits that we had to tackle. Probably not an issue for you 2 mountain goats though?
Thanks Graeme! Yes its a day I want to forget but will never forget. Its could have all gone very badly, thankfully we made it through. It just shows you how easy things can go wrong when your on the mountains. I have done a lot of trekking but have never had a day as scary as that one. Yes, day 14 is a bit more uphill than I thought as well. Little steep sections mainly, thankfully a total contrast to day 13 for us.
Wow lads that day could have easily gone T-up for you. I had to laugh when you were sure the route sign couldn't be correct, just sounded like me! Hats off for battling through, i bet the others in the hutt that night could not believe it.
Yes Ian we got through it, but it could have been big trouble for us if it went wrong. At one point, we were preparing to bivvy out for the night, but thankfully, we made it to the cabin. I think everyone was amazed we got through it safely. Don't want another day like that.
Well done guys
Thanks very much
Well done for getting through it. Very stressful !
Thanks Scott
Crikey Moses! Glad you made it safely to the hut!
Thanks Michael, one not to forget!
Nice trek. Definitely one I would enjoy to do. Possiblity to continue next year with the Tour of the Monte Rosa ? ;-)
Thanks, you won't be disappointed.
