The HORRIBLE Haute Route DISASTER 2018

On April 29, 2018, a group of 10 experienced skiers, led by Mario Castiglioni, a renowned mountaineer and founder of MLG Mountain Guide, set off on a journey to complete the Chamonix-Zermatt crossing or the Haute Route. They departed from the Dix hut, located in the Swiss Alps, and headed towards the Cabane des Vignettes, which was their destination for the day.
The Haute Route is a popular ski tour that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Alps, but it can be unforgiving for those who are not prepared. However, the group was well-prepared with Castiglioni's guidance and expertise. Despite the approaching storm, they began their ascent, crossed the Cheilon glacier, and climbed up to the Pigne d'Arolla. From there, they were planning a quick descent to Cabane des Vignettes, but things took a tragic turn when they encountered unexpected circumstances.
