Once again I am sharing some tips regarding headrests. It happens that some designs such as the one I show in the video whose covers are almost impossible to remove.
Why? It is because the foam that shapes the headrest was molded-injected with the cover together and it is well adhered on its reverse side.As you can see everything starts out from a stock cardboard mold.
BTW, this technique is taught in our basic courses.After the molds are placed over the fabric material they should be flattened to get flat pieces of fabric. We should not overlook the sewing reference notches which will be useful during the sewing process.
To ease the fitting process I had to remove the metal frame, otherwise it would be very difficult to perform this process. The metal frame is reinserted again and some glue is pasted inside to the foam pieces I tore off.At the end of the video we can see how the blind hand stitching is also useful to close the headrest lower lips.

why dont you remove old cover?
I wanted to do that, but as I mentioned in the video description, it is almost for not saying impossible. The old cover became stuck after the melted foam was injected inside the cover to give the headrest shape.

If you are thinking of a good new sewing machine, think of NC sewing machines USA: Single needle, Twin needle post bed, cylinder bed sewing machines, etc.

Regularly for car seats it is set up to 10 mm or 1/2" of an inch. It is a matter of personal taste. I have my machine set up to 10 mm between needles.
For dashboards, consoles, etc. the line of stitches are narrower, set up to 8 to 10 mm wide . It means you would need a second sewing machine if necessary.
