    These guys are leaders with a great attitude. Imagine what could be achieved if the mainstream manufacturers had this.

    I like the fact Energica started with a motorcycle-first approach, rather than building a bike around a battery. The Energica EGO+ RS I rode recently really kept the sportbike feel alive while making it clear it was EV-powered. You can feel it in the power and weight of the motorcycle.

    Yes, petrol prices have rocketed recently. However, the price of electricity has dramatically increased too with another 40% increase scheduled for October. Given electric bikes are very expensive to purchase and still have issues with range and charging stations the price of charging, when compared to petrol, is no longer an advantage.

    It would be interesting to get Energica's reaction to Ducati's V21L MotoE prototype. They have some apparent big improvements over Energica in the battery pack design. Ducati has shaped it to be a contoured stressed member and has a lightweight carbon fiber case compared to Energica's square box shape and metal case.

      It would need to be a lot cheaper than the Ducati because it looks some lies of kit

    Interesting video and insight.
    Who is the market for electric motorbikes? Is existing motorcyclists the market? Or will non-motorcyclists be enticed into the electric motorbike market? Or with it be a case that electric motorbikes will be forced amongst us all motorcyclists? Will general motorcyclists hang on to their internal combustion engine for as long as possible? Afteral, for many of us, motorcycling is for pleasure and so is the motorcycle it self.

      I recall looking at the Zero bikes & they were very expensive, especially if you bought the one with extended range. I think £18k? Which is a lot, considering I paid under £7k for a new Suzuki GSX1400 in 2007. I never got close to being bored with that machine, now sold.

    Will be very interesting to see what other manufacturers do with ev products… main issues as far as I see are number 1 cost and number 2 range.

      Yes, we recorded this in April before it was announced, so they couldn't talk about it on camera. Here's my review of it though - video to follow soon: www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/reviews/bikes/energica/experia-2022-review

    Notwithstanding the huge efforts which have been made, the blend of performance & range is distinctly inferior to internal combustion engined bikes. I do think they’re impressive nevertheless & in a peaceful world, I could easily see myself owning one! I will continue to track developments. Thank you 😊

    You could adapt a normal bike to have that electric owners experience. 1. Make sure the tank is tiny, so you can only go 50 miles on a full tank. 2. Put some sort of valve in place so when you put fuel in it take 20 times as long to top up. Of course you can only top up your fuel at certain fuel stations, say, ESSO?

    • @GT380man
      @GT380man 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And to really augment the experience, wear ear buds so you can’t hear the glorious sound of whatever engine is in your bike & instead pipe a whining noise via your phone.

      All you need to know about battery operating vehicles is that armies DO NOT use this "groundbreaking" technology...

    Real high performance electric motorcycle is coming in early 2023 called as Damon hypersport with a Top speed of 200 mph. Can't wait to see the review of that bike by bennets bikesocial.

    • @bennettsbikesocial
      @bennettsbikesocial  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We have an interview with Damon coming soon... but yes, I'm looking forward to riding that one. Yet as Giacomo says here, they can develop a bike with any speed but the compromises in range and weight have to be considered. I think we're in a fascinating era for EV, this is only the beginning!
