Good video thanks! Will need to paint handles outright …remove, scuff, prime, then base or 2 stage. Dip won’t last as they have a seam at the back that causes a peel point.
I did them on the car because you need to remove the big black plastic part then remove the chrome trim, much easier to do this on the car and 3 years and it still looks good and 100K of miles as well
Appreciate the video! Was just looking to do this throughout. I had a blacked out sport totaled after 6 months and had to opt for a limited with chrome accents. Still have the blk rims. I’ve used plastidip on rims in upstate NY, crap winters and lots of salt but held up 3 years. My concern is the car wash, my last car I didn’t care that much about but I do now. I’ve used the blacked out vinyl emblems on the sport and hold up very well. I think KMJ or something like that. I was about to swap out the grill but am now seeing you have to remove bumper, not going through that. Have you tried plastidip on grill
I don't use the car wash much and never with the brushes so the dip is in year 3 no issues ILL salts is like yours, as for the grill I did this amzn.to/4abhbWS use black wrap on the chrome before you snap these on it will be a 30 minute job.
I guess I'll never understand why people don't like Chrome??? I'm old school, I love Chrome. I think that Chrome looked really nice before you painted it black.....IMHO😊
Well in this case the Explorer lacks chrome bumpers and the sport has the chrome removed so I did it for a different look now get me 57Chevy and I love the Chrome!
@@HeadsUpSafety1 Go to the ford parts department they can show you the part and its fasteners on the screen and you will see how it is mounted, I have not removed one.
3 Years and it is still all on and looks great, don't skip the wipe down to remove oils and waxes and it will last. PS I don't use power car washes I wash at home by hand. Steve
Nice, I would have added 2 more coats for the black but still looks great
More makes it easier to peal for sure Thanksfor watching, Please subscribe to the channel Steve

I was thinking to wrap them with matte black. Easy to do and re do if needed
Is there a video how remove them
Does anyone know how to remove the pieces

@@govillonyt7979 Mine are call Hyper Grey
@@mytwogoodhands2799 okay thanks 😊
How does it holdup to car washes?
Coooool
Thanks! Steve
Anyone had success removing the insert??
You remove the whole black panel then you can remove the chrome part.
@@mytwogoodhands2799 so the main panel is a pop off with clips behind the insert? I couldn’t find ANYTHING on removing that lol. Thanks again!

@@mytwogoodhands2799 great idea…thanks
Why? Seems like a waste. Why not just get a Ford Explorer Police Utility if you don't like the chrome.
THe Sport also has black out chrome, Interceptors near me are all beat.
It's cheaper than finding the black ones or the grey ones.
Your plastic dip come off in the next couple months. 👎
